What a lovely soul you have Luise I am sure your grandmother is always with you when you craft xx
I had a similar lovely 🥰 experience with my grandmother. Carried on with my children and grandchildren. She didn’t let me play with little buttons, they were all very big ornate coat, jacket buttons. I thought she was a queen to have all those jewels 💎.
So generous of you. My granddaughter plays with my button collection which I got from my mom, which she got from her mom. It is a very special memory.
we were blessed by having our grandma's in our lives and so much a part of our childhood, mine was my loving mother figure, and I have her Singer machine it was a treadle! No electricity where we lived back in those days. I learned to sew on it in the 50's. I also have her button tin, and so many antiques in that sewing machine cabinet, wooden spools of thread, etc. I loved these button cards..they did bring back memories of my sewing for my children in the 60's and 70's too, and making all my own clothes then as well. Thanks for the memories!
I love these and thank you for the freebies,
Hugs. Maggie. ❤️🤗🇨🇦❤️
Oh what fun these are! It brought memories back of my grandma’s button tin when I was a little girl.
I have All my grandma Mocki’s buttons. When I was young we used to sit on her bed and look threw her button jars. I do that now with my grandson. I occasionally incorporate her buttons and her zippers and rick
ack, ribbons in my journals. I love your story Luise. ❤️❤️
The button cards you showed reminded me of the ones I got from my grandma after she passed. I got her large tin of buttons and it had some buttons in it from her and she had even had some from my great grandma. The little things that are dear to my heart 🙂
I understand about time with grandparents and keeping those things for yourself. Blessings lovely from Colleen nz
I think this touches the heart of many of your subscribers... I remember sleeping under the most beautiful and colorful quilts made by my great grandmother. With her hand hooked floor mats by the beds and throughout the house. Handmade socks and mittens for everyone. I followed in her footsteps when it came to all those things, and still have some of her buttons and spools of thread. She passed away in 1967, at age 82. So nice to find so many others whose creativity was inspired by their ancestors! These button cards are beautiful!
The English word for your granny’s sewing supply is snaps. I am loving this series, thanks for all the extra work to bring it to UA-cam.
Thank you so much 💕
My sister and I always played with grandma's button can, it is such a wonderful memory. Beautiful treasured card.
How lovely you have this memory with your grandmother!
As a child i played with a sigarbox full with buttons.
All the buttons were removed from clothes that where not to be used anymore.
Buttons were expensive.
Also my mother had this job, an old fashioned house wife job .... sewing buttons on cards?
How cool is that, you brought that back to my memory, as children we sometimes helped with that and i loved doing it.
Oh, you have the most imagination possible! It is amazing the ideas you come up with. Thank you for your patience.
Sweet story about your grandmother, love how meaningful and precious those buttons are to you and how cute the cards turned out. I wouldn't give them away either, too precious ❤️ Thank you for sharing you memories with us.
Luise, I got emotional listening to you talking about your grandma… I know exactly what you mean… thanks for sharing that and thank you so much for the amazing video! ♥️
At time stamp 19:30 you got me a little emotional myself, I know exactly what you mean. Its a special thing. Your cards came out wonderful, I love them! You and Barbara have inspired me so much! Thank you.
Love these button cards and your Grandma's button collection and how you were able to make such a special memory of your time as a child with her.
I'm enjoying watching you and Barbara. So much fun. I too have my Mom's and my father in laws button collections. Lots of very old ones. Loved how you did yours. Thanks so much for sharing your version. Huge to you 🤗😍🤗😍🤗😍 Stay safe.
I loved your story about the connection you felt with your grandmother when you were working on this. And hey, I think you're incredible for doing all your videos twice in two languages! Your English is clearer than a lot of native English speakers', so no worries! (You are being too hard on yourself!)
What a wonderful way to honour your Grandmothers memory. These Button cards are beautiful.
Ahhh. I have so many of 3 of my Great grandmothers buttons and many of my Grandma Mo’s too. I understand they are a special gift. A little part of our legacy and memories. What a great way to honor your Grandma! Beautiful!!
I could listen to you talk forever! German, English, a mix. It's all wonderful! 😊
I have my mom’s old button tin, too. I love going through it knowing she saved each button in the hopes she would use it someday. Special memories which also bring tears to my eyes. Tfs. Your cards are just lovely.
These are gorgeous! I have learned that button collections like this are often cut off garments that are too worn to wear. The cloth was made into quilts or rags. . . And the buttons were saved for mending.
I’m a great-grandma now, but when I was a girl, my grandmother taught me to sew. I so enjoyed your reminiscing about your grandmother. I can’t imagine doing these in two languages! I think you do a great job!
What a wonderful project. It brings back memories of my grandmother's button box, too, and how she would let me play with the buttons. Thank you, Luise, both for the memories and for the freebie.
Beautiful buttons cards. Beautiful memories of your grandmother.
Luise, I love the button cards you made, so to receive a freebie of these is extra special. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for sharing the story of your grandmother's buttons, and for sharing the images of your beautiful button cards! So special.
Thanks for sharing the story of your Grandma. I'm the one that crafts with my granddaughter. I hope she continues to craft into her adulthood and looks back fondly on our time together.
Love your cards. 😍
Wow, what lovely cards you created for your grandmother's buttons. I am so glad you have those memories. Your grandmother must have been a very special lady. I am also glad that you are keeping those the buttons she has left you in a very special way.
I also have my grandma's buttons .. i totally understand the meaning and memories that you talked about, things came flooding back to me ... thank you for sharing your story of the buttons 😊
I remember playing with my grandmother's buttons. She kept hers in a round tin. I would be entertained for hours sorting through her beautiful collection of buttons. I still have one of her old button cards with buttons on it. 🥰 Thank you so much for sharing your memories and bringing some of mine back to me.
I have same memories of doing that with my grandma. I have all her buttons, yes in round tins. My grandson and I occasionally look threw them now. Good memories, yes?
Your story about your Grandmother touched my heart and gave me the idea to fill a jar with my button collection to let my 4-year great granddaughter play with. She is obsessed with small things. Thank you for all you do. You are my inspiration.
Oh, she will have lots of fun!
What a way to preserve your grandmother’s buttons. Love your button cards.
Thank you so much for sharing your stories of times with your grandma. Memories are so precious. Xx
Great buttons cards! I enjoyed your process and your story about your grandmother. I can relate very much. I have a lot of my mother’s sewing stash and I’m just beginning to use them. Using her buttons and fabric is so very special to me. Thanks for sharing. 😃❤️
Luise, what a sweet memory of your Grandmother! The sewing cards are very special!
Luise!!!! I love how you used your grandma’s buttons in your art and thank you for the surprise. Now, your subscribers will have your grandma’s buttons in their art. 🤗
I love these. How special to be able to use your grandmothers buttons. 🤗🤗
I like the Coffee Button Cards, Luise. Also enjoyed hearing about your Grandmother... family is so important and they seem to leave us so quickly. I was very glad to hear you say you weren't ever going to sell those buttons, the container, or the cards... those memories are PRICELESS, and so dear to your heart. Thank you for sharing your creativity and story.
Beautiful tribute to your grandmother using her special buttons. This cards a perfect❤
Luise, these are great. I love that you have great memories of crafting with your grandmother. Much luv xx
I love the history behind these beautiful buttons. It made me cry, when my Nonna passed away, when I was in the 10th grade. I wasn't gifted anything of hers. I really wish I had something of my Nonna's. This video touched me, so thank you. These two buttons cards are so special. TFS 💜🦋
I am sure you have many lovely memories in your heart!
My Grandmother had 11 kids and SSOOOOO many Grandchildren. She had a huge button jar. When we’d go visit her, she’d let us play with those buttons. She’d been cutting them off of old shirts, dresses, coats. Anything that she was getting rid of or recycling. So they were all shapes, sizes and colors. I never knew who got those buttons. She passed when I was 12. I’m sure whoever got them keeps them locked up in a safe. They were worth more to all her Grandchildren than any silver or gold. Lol
I had paused your video to write my post, before I saw more of your story. Now I know you understand completely what I was saying about my Grandmother. Like I said, I didn’t get any of my Grandmothers buttons. But I have the memories of me as a child playing with these. I’m 64 now. These memories are as sharp now as they were when I was a child. Thank you for sharing your memories through this post. ♥️♥️♥️
You know what you might do, start a collection in memory of your Nona💜…I wasn’t left anything of my Nona either but I have memories locked in my mind…different little hobbies I remember I have continued as my way of being closer to her…pieces of cloth, buttons, orchids, quirky little jewelry pieces- nothing that would mean anything to anyone probably…however in the silence of the moonlight when I am creating and talking with “her”; all these secrets between Nona and I are quite special.
@@evarene07 I thought, I wish we had a heart button here for this!! WAIT….. ♥️♥️♥️!!! We do! I loved how you said, in the silence of the moonlight…. Beautiful.
I also have buttons from my great grandmother and my husband’s grandmother. I understand keeping them. They are precious!
This card is beautiful! Love that it has it’s own story , making it so special ! Thank you for sharing!🦋
I am so glad that you have the buttons from your Grandmother and the great memories to share. Thanks also for the button freebies. I am really enjoying this series.
When I was growing up my mom had a metal tin with her collection of buttons. I remember sitting on the floor and playing with them...they made a delightful sound as they clinked together. Good memories. Your button cards are so very special. 👍❤️🥰
I love these button cards & the sweet stories of your grandmother & the emotions you felt working with them & feeling that strong connection with her & your childhood! It’s so wonderful 🥰
First of all, I am amazed that you do the videos in German and English all the while you are being creative! I bow to you as you are a marvel to be able to process all of that stuff and make great videos and great products! Second, I too played with a jar of buttons that were my Mother's and will now use them in a lapbook I'll make in her honor. Thanks for the idea!
I am so glad to hear you are keeping your grandmother's buttons. Often people say things are from their mother's or grandmother's stash and they sell it in a journal. It makes me cringe, because when those treasures are gone, they are gone. Hold on to those precious treasures that have family history!!!!!! I adore these button cards!!!!! They are so sweet!!!!!!!
This reminds me of my mom's button box! I used to love playing with them when I was a little girl. I wonder what happened to them and really wish I had them now!! 😊💜
Thank Louise for this video. Loved how the button cards look. Those of us who have inherited our mother's or grandmother's collection of buttons can understand your feelings. Beautiful memories.
I completely understand the connection with your grandma's things. I have a few things from my grandma and they are very special.
What lovely memories. Thank you for sharing them with us. Lovely Button Cards.
I too have my mother’s buttons which I am sure include some of my grandmother’s as well. My mother used them for spare buttons and if she had enough for new clothing projects. Your buttons cards will be a great addition to your vintage style journals. I love them. Thanks for the freebie!
Please, you do not need to apologize for your word translation. Your speak better English then most Americans do. You do a fantastic job
I love all your stories, you tell them with such love. When I craft I feel my Grandma, Mocki, with me ❤️❤️❤️ I’m in love with these buttons cards. Wow
Love that you used your grandmother’s buttons
Luise, I can relate so much when you talk about your grandma❤️ I would watch mine sew for hours while I was drawing, sitting next to her. these are precious memories. and for English, I can relate too. Yesterday I arrived back to Italy after more than one year stuck in China because of the pandemic, and where I live I have no other Italians to speak to, so I must use English or Chinese all the time. even if sometimes we don't know the exact word we look for, I am so glad I can understand you. I cannot describe how much your videos keep me company. thank you for putting out your creativity and bits of your personality and life too. have been binge-watching this series (and Barbara's too!), I love every video soooo much! greetings from Italy (finally!) 😁 🤗 ❤️
Thank you so much for your wonderful words!
I too remember sitting with my Grandmother as she sewed or did other creative things. She taught me to sew, knit etc. I loved listening to your stories about your Grandmother’s buttons, and the cards you made are beautiful
Pieces of art tied to your heart strings. How perfect. Thanks for sharing from your soft heart. Love you!!
I love playing with this splash technique with various wet media. It is a great idea and adds such great dimension to ephemera and backgrounds.
My grandmother had jars of buttons. I wish I had them. Such a nice memory.
This video really touched me. I too have so many memories of my grandmother with her sewing and crafts. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get my hands on any of her supplies. There were so many grandchildren and adult children, I have very few memorabilia of her hobbies. As I get older, this makes me even more sad as the days go by. Treasure every little bit by friend, I know you do. Thank you so much for the freebies, they are just gorgeous!!! xo
My Grammy always had buttons and fun things to explore in her home. She gave me my great great grammas leather handmade pin cushion that I was never allowed to touch because of the pins. I felt so special when I got it and now I’m saving it for my daughter. Your button cards made me miss her soooo much but I have also have wonderful memories of her. The freebie is gorgeous, thank you so much.💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Luise: I love the story about you and your Grandmother. And I love your button cards.
Absolutely wonderful on both counts. Carol from California
Such nice memories of your grandmother. I like the idea of making button cards for junk journaling. You give great ideas.
I too have memories of playing with buttons from my childhood. My mother had a collection, probably some from my grandmother as well. I received the collection when my mother passed. Thank you for the memories and for your digital.💜
These are very cute. I have memories of playing with my grandmother’s button box.
Oh very special buttons of your Grandmothers' lovely cards 😊❤️
So lovely to hear about playing with your Grandmother's buttons as a child as that's a warm fuzzy memory for me too. I've struggled using them as I just love to look at them in glass jars, bowls, etc. Like you, I wondered why they were so random. Your teaching is so helpful & I learn so much every time. Thank you for being such a beautiful & bright light! God bless you Luise!
Your grandmother would be proud. TY, Luise. I'll be making one of these for my journal.
Thank you for the freebie. I also am lucky enough to have my Grandma's button box. What a wonderful way to show off a few of my favorite buttons.
Love the brown buttons, they look so good on the card. So glad you are keeping this for yourself.
Please don't ever apologize for your English! You do an amazing job! Thanks 😊
Grandma’s buttons look like what we call ‘snaps.’ 🤗💕🦋
It's always more precious what you make has sentimental value behind it. The button cards are so beautiful. TFS.
❤TFS! My Grandma taught me to crochet! Love the memories!
Absolutely wonderful not only the cards you made but the story of your grandma. I am very sentimental I have loads of things (more then I should) that belonng to various family members going back to my great grandparents
Thank you for sharing your Grandmother with us today ❤
How special to have these buttons from your Grandmother. I Really like your process for these cards. I love how you made the splotches. Very clever idea.
Thank you for the freebie, and your wonderful ideas, Luise! Playing in my mother’s button box was a pleasure for me as well. Sadly, when she died the buttons were given away before I could ask for them. I’m so very glad you have your grandmother’s buttons!
I wish you were kinder to yourself about your English. You speak beautifully! It is always a joy to watch your channel!🥰
Your button cards are GORGEOUS!! Such a beautiful memory of your grandmother & what a treasure that you now have her buttons...thank you for sharing your heart!! ❤🤗 I LOVE buttons & have collected alot over the years...many are vintage/antique & some are full cards(rare find) Day #5 was extra-special!! 😁
Luise, my grandmother also had a large collection of buttons! They were in a great big glass bowl and I always played with them when I was a little girl. When she passed away I wanted her buttons but we couldn't find them anywhere. Ever since I have been collecting old buttons from flea markets and antique fairs. I'm wondering if your grandmother collected her buttons the way mine did. She made would cut the buttons off of old clothes and save them and then make quilts with the fabric. If she purchased buttons to sew a dress she always put any leftovers in the bowl with the others. She came from a generation that never wasted anything!
I just love these button cards! I have all my Mom's buttons. It is a special way to use the buttons for a remembrance. Thanks for the inspiration.
I have my grandmothers buttons and other sewing items. She was a seamstress and I had many hours sewing with her.
My Mom and my Mother-in-law both had buttons. I remember going through the old buttons as a child. I don't know what happened to them, but I have my own tin now for using in my journals. I love how your button cards turned out.
Thank you for doing your videos also in English. I learn so much from you as an artist and I enjoy your stories. Your videos make me smile and warm my heart.
Beautiful! I have old buttons from 1920 and earlier. This is an excellent project!
Wow, this is so special to have this wonderful memories of your gran. Love your button cards. 😍
Thank you so much Louise for this special video. Thank you for the gift so I can print out and have some of these very special little pieces of art.
I have several jars of buttons I've collected over the years. I love buttons! And don't apologize for your English! I'm always amazed by people who speak a second language. I only know a tiny bit of German, not enough to speak it and make any sense. Your English is excellent!
Grandma’s buttons are the best 🥰
My grandchildren call me the button lady. My mother had so many buttons and we did play with them as well. You gave me a bit more of who you are with your story. Just a bit more to love about you.
I have at least a million buttons, some with me and some in storage in the states. And my childhood friends mom gave me a tin of her buttons, some were even her grandmother's so they were from the 1800's. Her request was that I make her daughter a necklace with some of the very cool red ones. I did and Benn ah ( my childhood friend) cried when I gave it to her...partly because her mother had passed shortly after giving me the tin of buttons. Thank you for this lovely memory prompt.
Such a heartwarming story Luise. It makes it all more meaningful, and I can imagine that you will never give these away. I wouldn't either. 😘😘😘 thank you for all the inspiration - and for the freebie
I love your videos, but especially this one. I wanted to share our grandma’s buttons with my siblings without ruining them and was trying to think of how. This is perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your talents.
I love your colours and what a beautiful way to display your grandmothers pretty buttons x
Grandma buttons are the best.
Beautiful work as always, Luise! Your english is wonderful, don't worry about it
