This is a pretty easy job with plastic tools for interior body work (which you can buy for $10). My dealer charged $154 for the switch, so I highly recommend buying it online for $30 or less.
ThankX 4 video, never fails, April 24th 2014 my warranty expired, my parking brake switch is cracked and won’t last long grrrrr. What special tools will I need to DIY? 2015 BMW 528i. Thank u buddy
I have same issue with this switch, mine parking has fault code, did you have same problems? I checked hand brake actuator (module) everything seems to be OK.
I just dropped off my car at the dealership for this replacement and some service, if they send me $500 quote tomorrow, I’m totally replacing it myself
Sorry the video was not helpful. My plastic was not difficult to remove. Maybe others can see this and find the actual point of connection where you need to pry the tool. Sorry again.
@@ridetools69 Thanks for the reply, and sorry I was grumpy. The rest of the video was great, but it really was the only hard bit - especially to not damage the clips!
You may find these tips helpful: - to loosen the plastic I used a wide plastic wedge - take a vacuum cleaner and cloth aside to remove the dirt - if the connection cable is not that long. Stuff a cloth under the blue plug and let it hang out on the side. Now press the component onto the blue connector. When the handbrake is connected, you can pull the cloth out.
Extremely helpful, thank you. Bought the part on eBay for $25 and you saved me $180 from having to bring it in👍👍👍
Mines just broken, and your guide shows this is a very easy self repair. Thanks for the video!
Thank you, I really saved 200€❤
Thanks. Took about 10 minutes. That tiny torx screw driver I think is T8, or that's what worked for me.
Swapped mine out in about 10 minutes flat. Thanks.
I'm stuck at work right now and can't get pb to release. UGH!!!
Thanks for the video, it was very helpful for my installation

Can I just replace the Botton without changing the whole part? My car is bmw x6 2017

I like this music, what is the name of this music
Shazam says its "Ravet - Steve-Fresh"
Do you have to disconnect the battery to replace the parking brake switch?
I did. Just to be on the safe side. The battery is in the trunk, just remove the Negative, that will do.
I did not
@@ridetools69 does it throw any code on the system if battery not removed? thanks

매우 좋습니다. 감사합니다
There is only ONE thing that’s hard about this process and that’s getting the fascia off at the start. Why did you skip over it? So unhelpful.
