Long story short almost all of Todd Rogers "records" have been proven to be false by community members and only after insane public backlash did twin galaxies remove ALL of his records.

It's like 8 years and I don't have a single friend why ? All these games playing it solo without group I tried to play with groups put didn't work every time they kick me if I did mistake or I am not talking why ? I have friends in my life put they don't like games. I tried to make friends in PS4 put didn't work. Sorry for the long sad story put I want isolation to this issue. 😢 I had enough playing alone

I had a similar experience regarding a tumor and my oculus rift, everything was fine for the first few weeks but then I started to suffer from severe shocks of pain while using the headset that generated near the side of my face. After regular pain meds and stopping the use of the rift didn’t work they found a tumor that the vibe strap rested on which caused Trigemnial Neuralgia. The tumor was removed however being that I thought it was the rift which had caused the pain to begin with I had sold that too.
My local college in Canada does an E-sports and entrepreneurship program too. The students play in tournaments and are responsible for organizing their team in the competitions and managing payouts and all that stuff. Sort of interesting.
Playing games for a living can probably be fun at first - but as somebody who has played World of Warcraft, World of Tanks, and some other long-term games, I can tell you that eventually you just get burned out and it does become a bit of a chore. I had a lot of fun, but I seriously don't think I'll ever get back into them. Not because of the games themselves, but because I just don't want to do that kind of stuff anymore.

I just wanted to voice my opinion on the pro-gaming school. Obviously I haven't attended one but I'd think, or at least, hope it works similar to a practical music school (which I have been a part of), because I think there's some similarities between the two. Primarily they both teach something that is incredibly hard to make successful living at, there's so many bands out there and so few opportunities for those bands that expecting that the courses will definitely lead you to a career as a preforming musician is unrealistic, which is exactly why even though preforming is the focus you'll be taught a number of skills for areas of music that have more of a calling, you mentioned team management but if they also teach things like overall event management, studies surrounding the hardware involved in gaming etc then it would give the students far more opportunities. Also both are subjects that I can imagine students taking thinking it'll just be fun, playing in a band or playing games, and those students are likely not to enjoy the courses, however those that are truly passionate about an actual career in that field will likely enjoy the courses even if it does somewhat turn the game/performance into a chore, and in fact I think that's something they should be aware will happen anyway. Both in music and in gaming, professionals will practice the same game/song over and over because there's always room for improvement.

I played the original Counter-Strike at a professional level back before E-Sports was really much of a thing and it absolutely became my job. I have Counter-Strike dreams and would hear sounds from the game while not playing the game. I was only in leagues for about a year and a half but to this day I can't stand to play it for more than an hour every few weeks. All my CS playing friends still play all the time and are always inviting me to games. I feel so guilty turning them down. LoL :)

Considering that e-sports might be an olympic sport in 2030, I'm not surprised at all that someone would open up a school for gaming. Gaming the way it's progressing now, will probably be a huge job market in it's own way. We already have UA-cam and Twitch for this, as the biggest parties at the moment. But it will only get bigger and a school for gaming, might be a good thing to give people a head start.
I liked the story about the modder making money and he learned how to code on his own. Good to see younger people these days still doing that. You can look up information how to do anything these days to learn how to program, mod, etc. I taught myself 4 different computer languages starting in 1979. I was obsessed with learning everything I could about computers and there was no internet. I learned quickly that I was able to figure out almost anything when it came to computers even if it was something I had never encountered before. However I was never able to figure out how to program in assembly language, it was just beyond me, after attempting to learn how on 4 different occasions. At that time I was learning so much more outside of high school on my own obsessing over computers than what high school was teaching me. It's the only thing good that came from my obsession with games. I originally became obsessed with computers just because I wanted to play games. Too many people these have a "I don't know how to do that because nobody taught me how" mentality and learn absolutely nothing on their own.
I hate that the credit for investigating the Todd Rogers case is going to Twin Galaxies when it was all done by speedrunners and TG users. All TG did was try to hide and ignore the truth, and they only removed Todd's high scores because the pressure was too big.

I had a similar experience regarding a tumor and my oculus rift, everything was fine for the first few weeks but then I started to suffer from severe shocks of pain while using the headset that generated near the side of my face. After regular pain meds and stopping the use of the rift didn’t work they found a tumor that the vibe strap rested on which caused Trigemnial Neuralgia. The tumor was removed however being that I thought it was the rift which had caused the pain to begin with I had sold that too.
These always give me a chuckle.
My local college in Canada does an E-sports and entrepreneurship program too. The students play in tournaments and are responsible for organizing their team in the competitions and managing payouts and all that stuff. Sort of interesting.
Playing games for a living can probably be fun at first - but as somebody who has played World of Warcraft, World of Tanks, and some other long-term games, I can tell you that eventually you just get burned out and it does become a bit of a chore. I had a lot of fun, but I seriously don't think I'll ever get back into them. Not because of the games themselves, but because I just don't want to do that kind of stuff anymore.

I just wanted to voice my opinion on the pro-gaming school.
Obviously I haven't attended one but I'd think, or at least, hope it works similar to a practical music school (which I have been a part of), because I think there's some similarities between the two.
Primarily they both teach something that is incredibly hard to make successful living at, there's so many bands out there and so few opportunities for those bands that expecting that the courses will definitely lead you to a career as a preforming musician is unrealistic, which is exactly why even though preforming is the focus you'll be taught a number of skills for areas of music that have more of a calling, you mentioned team management but if they also teach things like overall event management, studies surrounding the hardware involved in gaming etc then it would give the students far more opportunities.
Also both are subjects that I can imagine students taking thinking it'll just be fun, playing in a band or playing games, and those students are likely not to enjoy the courses, however those that are truly passionate about an actual career in that field will likely enjoy the courses even if it does somewhat turn the game/performance into a chore, and in fact I think that's something they should be aware will happen anyway. Both in music and in gaming, professionals will practice the same game/song over and over because there's always room for improvement.

The investigation by twin galaxies is long overdue. They have refused again and again to investigate, even though according to the devs of the game his record is literally impossible, even using glitches.

I played the original Counter-Strike at a professional level back before E-Sports was really much of a thing and it absolutely became my job. I have Counter-Strike dreams and would hear sounds from the game while not playing the game. I was only in leagues for about a year and a half but to this day I can't stand to play it for more than an hour every few weeks. All my CS playing friends still play all the time and are always inviting me to games. I feel so guilty turning them down. LoL :)
My favorite weird gaming story is that my students, I am a substitute teacher, are more interested in getting me to play fortnight than anything else going on in the class room. I lost 5 minutes a period to this conversation for 6 periods in one day.

Considering that e-sports might be an olympic sport in 2030, I'm not surprised at all that someone would open up a school for gaming. Gaming the way it's progressing now, will probably be a huge job market in it's own way. We already have UA-cam and Twitch for this, as the biggest parties at the moment. But it will only get bigger and a school for gaming, might be a good thing to give people a head start.

I liked the story about the modder making money and he learned how to code on his own. Good to see younger people these days still doing that. You can look up information how to do anything these days to learn how to program, mod, etc. I taught myself 4 different computer languages starting in 1979. I was obsessed with learning everything I could about computers and there was no internet. I learned quickly that I was able to figure out almost anything when it came to computers even if it was something I had never encountered before. However I was never able to figure out how to program in assembly language, it was just beyond me, after attempting to learn how on 4 different occasions. At that time I was learning so much more outside of high school on my own obsessing over computers than what high school was teaching me. It's the only thing good that came from my obsession with games. I originally became obsessed with computers just because I wanted to play games. Too many people these have a "I don't know how to do that because nobody taught me how" mentality and learn absolutely nothing on their own.
Making something illegal just exacerbates the problem. China banning gaming just makes gamers want to game even harder.

I hate that the credit for investigating the Todd Rogers case is going to Twin Galaxies when it was all done by speedrunners and TG users. All TG did was try to hide and ignore the truth, and they only removed Todd's high scores because the pressure was too big.
