I came across your channel through your collaboration with Nattie Up North. My daughter is about to turn 13 and has found a love for fishing. I am doing what I can to help but my experience consists of a worm under a bobber 30 years ago. I had never caught anything other than a bluegill and never on anything other than live bait. Her excitement for it has spread to me and we love to fish together. Unfortunately we are in the midwest and don't get near the variety that you find offshore. We have had fun catching largemouth bass and crappie. This weekend I am going to target catfish and carp for the first time. My daughter is researching what it will take to start a bass fishing club at the high school. It is great to have some online role models to reinforce the idea that fishing isn't just for boys. That is why I trust my kayak more than a boat lol. Also, kayak is the BEST vehicle for inshore fishing! It is cheap, no maintenance, can go anywhere, launch from anywhere, stealthy and eco - friendly.
Recommend you have a look at the SIRIUS Satellite XM weather service. It's has been my go-to for really accurate real-time weather, especially valuable for our summer thunderstorms in South FL. You can see them coming on your MFD and take appropriate evasive action well before they get close. In case you do get caught (worse case scenario!) and it becomes unsafe to even try to get back home, carry a PARA-TEC Sea Anchor (different sizes but 12 feet is a good place to start). With a sufficiently long rode (at least 100 feet) you can cleat it off and stay "bow-in" to a head sea and the wind. Take shelter under your bimini and wait for it to pass.
Thanks for always brightening up my day with you vivacious personality's and great fishing and boating tips... :) keep it up and you will have 1mil subs within the years end..

In sailing the question that invariably comes up is: When do you reef the sails? The best answer I’ve ever heard is: When the question first pops into your head. A thunderstorm? Rough water? Cold air blowing? That is classic thunderstorm dissipating. What you experienced was the downdrafts caused by the storm dissipating. Hey I like your channel I happened to stumble across. I used to dive with my friend off an old 27 ft Coast Guard power boat with a 350 inboard. We were about 2 mi offshore diving one time on a nice clear day. By the time we surfaced the sky was black, there was thunder, lightning, wind, rain and big waves. My friend was panicking and yelling at me to hurry up and get on the boat. I am usually calm in crazy situations so I told him we are already in it so rushing won't make any difference. Well, in the blinding rain he cut across an area that was a mine field of rocks just under the surface. I said stick to the GPS course we took to get out there. We hit a rock and he immediately shut the engine off and opened up the floor to see if we were taking on water. Luckily we were not. He did damage the shaft, bent the rudder and prop. We ended up crawling in to safe waters. Another time I chased his boat in my scuba gear across 2 miles of open water...the anchor didn't hold! Many more stories I lived to tell!
I love you guys BUT going 35 miles offshore with known/non functional radar AND motors that are “constantly breaking down” seems like a really bad combination.
We live in Beautiful Port Lions on Kodiak Island, Alaska. We can make you big halibut dreams come true. Let me know when your ready. God bless you both. Without Him we can do nothing.
Can you guys do a video on how to tie your preferred knot connecting braid to the mono leader, and also the preferred way to tie on a jig? We mostly fish for stripers up here so the lures are less important. The tuna we chase are blue fin which we do with a spread.
Sound like our story, but we were 85N miles out and it went flat calm to 12 feet blowing over 60 knots and this went on for 4 hours before we ran out of fuel. Now days with Sat weather, if you are fishing out of cell phone range, you need to pay the price to put it onboard it will save your life. There have been stories of boats caught out in the gulf in 90 to 100 foot waves from down burst of 100 mph waves. The ocean is no joke! Remember the 2 poor kids off Jupiter. Boat found months later off Bermuda.

I think u ladies have been drinking. no just kidding. You ladies know there is a devil who seeks who he may devour. Had an experience in a lake when a sudden cold front about 30 mph wind. I thought we were doomed. Soaked and frozen when we made it back to the boat ramp. My older brother came or we would have been in trouble.
Not to inspire your fears any further but I have seen a fiberglass boat break in half slamming on the waves, something to consider next time your out in rough seas and slamming them 8 footers.
So like just out curiosity, were all the go pro batteries dead or was filming just the last thing y'all wanted to do because that rough trip would have made one hell of a video?

YourTV goal is righteous. Social media, instant media consumption and gratification, and frantic attention spans are ubiquitous right now. Franticness is an unfortunate hallmark of our society today. The traits are so pervasive these days, that something as deeply authentic, kind, and natural as you two would be quite the anomaly on TV, and I think would do quite well. Some of my favorites were Jose Wejebe's "The Spanish Fly", Babe Winkelman's "Walkers Cay Chronicles", and The Fishers.... the husband and wife team; they fished with another guide who was a chef and cooked up their catch. Jose Wejebe had the best vibe in fishing TV hands down. It felt like you were fishing WITH him, he was very authentic, and you could tell he naturally loved doing it....of course for any lover of the Caribbean and its many fascinating historical, cultural storylines, being from Havana and fleeing Castro made him instantly interesting. Growing up in S. Fla and your UM background makes for an intriguing background/genesis for ya'll as well. You have some of that same vibe/magic. Good luck. Hope to see you on the water some day.....
I don't think this is really a light plaining hull tactic but more of a displacement hull one.... could you deploy a drogue or sea anchor to ride out the squall?
My scarest time on a boat was getting caught in a storm in the Gulf of Mexico,it started out to be a gorgeous day so we were about 35 miles out and catching grouper, snapper,so we seen a storm coming towards us from land so as we started back in the seas were 6 to 8 feet back to back then we hit a 10ft wave that put the front of boat pointing in the air and the motor under water lucky it didn't stall it was a 23ft pro line center console but anyways it scared my dad so bad he sold the boat after that so that is my storie.
Do you have or get a single sideband radio? Going that far out without it is scary. No cell phone or VHF. If you have a epirb you might want to consider a single side band. Stay safe.
Thanks for having the courage to share you specific, measurable, and achievable goals. I'm recommending this video to my teenage nieces.
Thank you 😊 Happy New Year!
Forgot to mention Salmond fishing on Lake Michigan
Good luck. Keep up the great work
Great Q&A. Keep on doing what you’re doing 😎
What do you ladies like better a V- hull vs Catamaran?
I don't think this is really a light plaining hull tactic but more of a displacement hull one.... could you deploy a drogue or sea anchor to ride out the squall?
Maybe you two ladies should get your radar replaced?
Ask me about surfing or trawler into a Jersey inlet
What about getting married and having children?
Take 11 annnnnnd go! Love it we need the horror stories to! 👏👏
If you make it to Alaska we got you on the Halibut!
Do you have or get a single sideband radio? Going that far out without it is scary. No cell phone or VHF. If you have a epirb you might want to consider a single side band. Stay safe.
Aww dang it! Sucks you guys aren't going to charter anymore, would have loved to go out. Still super happy for you guys and glad business is thriving!
A smooth sea never made a skilled mariner you fine ladies .......
Thanks for having the courage to share you specific, measurable, and achievable goals. I'm recommending this video to my teenage nieces. Your goals are challenging but certainly achievable given your work ethic. As my high school coach said "Success leaves clues." You ladies study, plan, prepare, and execute. Thanks for humbly setting an amazing example for young ladies.
