Hey! I’m thinking of MacMaster for next year and I have a couple questions if you don’t mind:) 1. How did you choose which residence building you are in? 2. Did you have a meal plan? How does it work and what are your thoughts? Thanks so much! Love your videos and stay safe and healthy💓
allegra kortes-miller Hi! You don’t choose what res building you’re in, you choose what room types you prefer. Some room types are specific to certain buildings. There’s info on that on the website. I had the normal meal plan this year. Food was okay, but I was getting bored towards the end. I think it’s important to switch your meals up a bit. I only spent 1/2 my meal plan, but I’ll just use the other half next year. Thanks for the support!
Charlotte Thomas girl, who’s gonna keep me sane?!!!! Just kidding ... but like fr 🙃 I really hope we get to go back in Sept. It’s been three weeks and I am DONE with it.
I was so excited to get chosen to go to Mc for exchange but I’m not sure if I can go due to the coronavirus...😭😭😭 I really hope everything goes better soon enough so that I can go to Mc from September!!💕💕 ps your videos are really helping me getting ready and motivated! Thank you🥰
Yuria Hattori Hi Yuria! Thanks for all the support. I remember you from my previous video. I hope that things clear up so that you can still come in Sept! I’d love to meet up :)
I applied to health and life sci at mac I know there’s a lottt but from the people you’ve talked to, what do they think of it? Faculty/staff? opportunities to get involved? if they enjoy it?
itswynette You should get it! i deactivated my old account almost 2 years ago and just have a private one now for close friends but i’m hoping to start one back up soon and catfish some people 😂 I also don’t have facebook lol
Awesome video I've got an offer from mac and its definetly my first preference But the offer is conditional and maybe I was confident, but ever since everything went to shit I'm so nervous and confused as to what's gonna happen I hope everything works out Please pray that I end up coming to mac in september
Hey there, I just received an offer from Mac about postgrad master program, will it be difficult for international students to find a place to live, I guess undergrad would be different from postgrad? Hmmm >///
are you still following the 10pm sleep schedule? i'm still pretty consistent with going to sleep by 12 and waking up at 8 but some days i be going to sleep at like 3am 😅 and i recommend maybe being an fyo mentor in your 2nd year. i applied to be a mentor in 2nd year and became really good friends with my mentee.
I accepted my offer for social sciences at Mac, but I really wanna switch to Humanities to major in Multimedia studies 😢. Idk when I could switch and when I should contact them. Any ideas?
Haii I am planning to pursue my master of computer science in mcmaster... I am from India and I just want to know the language requirements for mcmaster... If U know the details kindly update me
Just got my humanities offer from Mac! Idk what program should I choose yet lol, probably linguistic? However, I’m really excited about this September. Btw nice video, and thanks for the tips! Do you think that making friends could be harder for international students? Especially when English is not their first language, like me.
Hi! Congratulations on your offer! I do not think it will be more difficult for you to make friends. There are a lot of clubs and initiatives just for international students. Also, I knew a couple of international students and they had no problem befriending people on their floor and classes.
I just recently got my acceptance for McMaster DeGroote. At first, it wasn't really one of my top choices but as the year progressed, I've been leaning towards it way more. I was wondering if I could personally reach out to you, to learn more about the program and to see if it's my best choice!
Vikashini Ravitharan hey! Feel free to leave your questions below. I don’t have any socials and for safety reasons, I do like to keep conversations in the comments :)
@@itswynette That's totally understandable!! I was wondering how you found the DeGroote Commerce program? How were the courses for first-year. I didn't take any business courses in grade 12 (accounting/finance etc.), so do you think I would be able to manage? How are the clubs/extra-curricular at Mac? Also, (if this isn't too personal) do you think it's possible to maintain a good/high(ish) GPA at Degroote, from how you or your friends are doing? Thank you so much for helping, I truly appreciated it!
@@vikashiniravitharan8203 Sorry it took me such a long time to get back to you! I really liked the first-year courses. I took grade 12 accounting and it definitely gave me an edge. That being said, you can still get a high mark despite not taking grade 12 accounting. You may just have to prioritize this class before your other ones. There are so many clubs. I've dropped into a few. I really like the fitness classes at the gym. It is very possible to achieve a high GPA. I actually found grade 12 a lot more difficult than first-year.
John Ray Hey! I know Laurier’s co-op is very attractive to many students. McMaster has a 12 month internship between 2nd and 3rd year. Both are good programs. I think it just depends on where you see yourself. I LOVED the campus at Mac and could see myself here. If you have any more specific questions about Mac, I will happily answer them.
Hii i just recently got accepted into mac for this upcoming fall, but I would have to commute to school everyday. i guess im kinda worried that since I wont be living on res, I might be missing out on like the "typical uni life". Any tips?? loved the video btw!
Thea Chu Hi! Congrats and thanks for the support. I really did love res life and I met the majority of my friends from res. I know some people who lived on res first year and just commute the rest. This way they get to have the typical experience. I don’t know if that’d be something you’d be interested in?
itswynette thanks for the relply:)) i rlly wish i could live in res, but the probelm rn is that my parents cant financially afford for me to move out there so im just getting anxious of the whole social aspect and worried i wont be able to make new friends ykk
Thea Chu oh I see. I still believe you’ll be able to make friends even as a commuter. Instead of making res floor friends, you will make friends at frosh, classes, and clubs. You will be fine :)
Samuel Yeung I’m pretty sure I accepted and then chose my res. But I don’t think you need to do it in that order. Just wait for an email from them about choosing a res. From what I remember, it’s much later.
I got into DeGroote for next year but I’m still deciding which university to pick. I wanted to ask is there any specific laptops or devices you recommend for business students?
Britney H Hi, congrats! I think any fast laptop will do the trick. I really like my Lenovo X1 thinkpad because it’s light and fast. I do recommend getting a monitor though. It comes in handy when doing readings. What schools are you considering?
itswynette I applied to Waterloo AFM, mac DeGroote, UofT rotman, York schulich, Queens commerce, Brock, and Guelph. Got accepted to Mac and Brock so far but I don’t want to go to Brock nor Guelph (they were backups). Currently still waiting for all the others. I’m leaning towards Waterloo at the moment but luckily Mac was my second choice (because it’s close and I live in the same city so I won’t have to pay for residence and save some money) but in the end I’ll be happy with whatever I end up at :)
Quinn Horan yep! You can either request a mentor or get paired up with one in September. The organization who runs it sent us an email to sign up shortly after school started.
"theres always gonna be anther party but theres never gonna be another midterm" i loveed that lmao
words of wisdom 😂😂👏
I hope this virus thing doesn’t ruin freshman year of uni ughh, loved your video and positivity like always :)))
Jasmeen Singh oh I hope so too! Thank-you for the support and stay safe :)
Me too😭😭
I'm lucky I'm well passed my party phase(I'm 30)...planning to go to McMaster next year. Informative video! Thank you!
This video is very informative and calmed me down a bit from my panic of starting my first uni year next year lol. Thank you sm!
jenny nhinguyen happy to hear that!!
Just finishing up my second year in heath sci at Mac, and your channel popped up. Best of luck with school and your channel. :)
Hey! I'm going to McMaster this fall. I'm a little nervous but I am still very excited. I'll definitely keep your advice in mind
Taskin A. Eera exactly how I felt! Happy to help :)
this vid was acc really helpful! i’m lowkey scared for uni this year omg i just wanna graduate grade 12 LOLL
I was scared also! It’s too bad that you have to graduate among these circumstances. Just keep pushing and stay safe! :)
Ohh you guys are graduating
I really hope that everyone stays safe and everyone gets to start uni off properly!! I’m super excited to be going to Mac in September:))

you got accepted into health science?
I'm really hoping i get accepted into health science at mcmaster but i heard it's highly competitive
The Lysol wipes in the back XD
youknowittt
Hey I just had a quick question how do you "get a mentor"? Do you mean like find someone to help yourself or is there some application for that?
How good of a balance is there between parties and academics cause I know that a school like queens does both
Ojima Ekere I think it’s pretty good! The environment is very academic, but there are a lot of ways to use your free time.
immediately subscribed. great advice!
