Great video man you explained the seperation of lines better than anyone ive seen, there were so many helpful tips this video definitely will change the way i pack thanks!
Wow, I had 100 jumps in the 1980s with a 7-cell. I was not nearly so diligent, and I never had a malfunction. This guy can pack my parachute any time. Fantastic job.😊
Thank you for this! I start training for certification on Friday and this is the best tutorial I've watched yet. Will most likely make this my common practice when packing my chute
Learning how to pack a rig seems impossible until one time there is a 'eureka' moment and you 'get it'. Helping new jumpers learn to pack and jump their own pack is always so cool. Most packers at busy drop zones make so many shortcuts like not double wrapping rubber bands and making a loose closing loop. That being said.. this guy is epic, no doubt in my mind, could pack a canopy blindfolded in the dark.
Only thing that worries me about going for my AFF. How can one ensure that the riggers at the drop zone you're learning at haven't become complacent from packing thousands of canopies over the years. Once I'm at the point where I can rig my own canopy, at least my life is in my own hands, but before that it's difficult to trust someone I don't know.
By far the easiest way to pack and best explanation of a pack job. I've tried them all, taking parts from some vids and combining with others. But this video has it all, from the all important flaking to the S Folds and getting it in the bag. Makes packing a brand new main a breeze. Thanks!
It’s about what works best for the individual! I love when people come up with their own techniques for their own pack jobs to get the results that they prefer.
I will probably never jump off an airplane with one of those but I did watch the whole video very much enthusiastic about it. Congrats for the hard work mate.
So cool - it's one of those little mysteries that you never really get to see unless - well - someone makes a video or you watch it in person. Very, very interesting.
I had a chance to go jumping today and your instruction on stowing the brakes was particularly helpful. I was more confident with placing the lines and excess after stowing the toggles. I never really knew which way they should go before. Usually, ‘whichever .’ Thanks again. [ note: I still rent and am not allowed to pack the rental rig. I do stow the toggles and lay the lines out for the rigger, however. This is so someday, when I grow up and can pack my own rig, I will at least have that part figured out.]

I have never Paracuted before, but after this video, I am confident I can Pack my own chute for my first jump thx man !!! Wish me luck !!!! by the way, my first jump is going to be a base jump because I don't have a plane.
My biggest issue I have with packing (only 30 jumps currently so very new) is following the line groups. I always get them mixed up. So your advice here was very helpful. Thanks buddy!
Your a natural talent at explaining things but I think still I would have to pack a second chute with you side by side to get the feel of it. Have to be on a really slow day I know.
Trust me it took me awhile to get it down the way I do now. I learned from some of the best packers in the game at Skydive Deland and I owe everything I know to them. Solid team for sure. If you’re ever in Deland and need a packing class don’t hesitate to ask.
A small tip they taught me: when stowing the excess brake line, always stow it bottom to top (instead of top to bottom like you did). The reason being that you will pull the toggles DOWN to release them, and if you stow the excess lines from the top to the bottom, they have a slightly higher chance of tangling or getting stuck. Also, when the brakes haven't been stowed, you might want to run them down from the canopy to remove any twists in the lines, to prevent tension knots or uneven toggle pressure.
@@chrisfs150 I've since had some discussions about this with fellow jumpers, one of whom made a very valid point for stowing them top to bottom: when you release the toggle, chances are you canopy is faster than you are, thus pulling the loop UP, not down. Either way, I found out the hard way last weekend how important it is to decently stow the excess, when the slightly loose excess loop got caught in my toggle and caused a tension knot. Luckily I was able to free it with a sharp tug and had an uneventful flight otherwise.
Hey man! Cant wait for what you are saying will be an updated version of the tutorial. I am the son of a skydive business owner and I want to learn how to become a rigger myself. So thanks for all the help.

I'm used to fokding the canopy co pmetely before going in the D bag, I'm gonna try doing the S fold with only half in now. Also inwas taught to bring the slider up over my shoulders before clearing the lines, want to try this method instead as well. Thanks
Extra: on the brake lines, follow them THROUGH the grommet in the slider, all the way to the canopy, and grow accustomed to (memorize) how they are when the canopy/lines/risers are all good, correct--thanks Jessica! That saved me one day after I got my rig back after a reserve repack--when I had pulled the cutaway cable for fun. The rigger put my main risers back on, but twisted one of the risers... the result was that when I followed the brake lines THROUGH the grommet in the slider, all the way to the canopy, something was WRONG! I had never experienced that before, but I knew that something was wrong because one side was fine, the other side had crossed/twisted lines. I had a rigger check and he figured it out. To this day, after 537 jumps, I have yet to chop; I have never ridden a reserve. I know my luck will probably run out one day, but I make for fucking sure that I know everything is as it should be when I pack, every fucking time. Leave nothing to chance.

What a great pack job and step by step tutorial. Exactly what I was looking for on my way back into jumping to refresh my memory. I occasionally had some hard openings and line twists but never a cutaway on my own pack jobs. So I appreciate this to hopefully perfect my packing. Thanks man!
Here to help! Blues skies Mr B
So cool thank ! I'm a french student and I start to pack my parachute but not easy at first 🤙
Hey Luc! Yes, in the beginning it is difficult to pack but with practice it will get easier like everything in life! Hope the video helped you!
Great video Sal,first time watching how to pack a parachute. Great explanation for a layman like me to understand. 👏👏👍
I tried to make it as simple as possible to help as many people as possible
@@SalvadorChangg continue the great work, someone like me who doesn't know anything about parachute learnt something from you. 👏👍🏻Power lah.
Nice video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thanks, it’s what I’m here for
I learned a lot! I don't even practice this sport but its luring me in
Haha then it’s working 😂
Thanks for sharing. I had really good openings when you packed for me. Good job!
Appreciate the support and feedback! Glad to hear it, till next time brother 🤙🏼
Great video…always pick up useful pointers from different packing styles. Thanks Sal. Love to see one about common tangles and how to recognise what type they are and best way to disentangle them
Yes, if I could recommend anything it would be to watch a bunch of different packers and see what works best for you. Hope the video helped Kevin. What DZ are you from?!
Wao very easy and simple way, also an interesting way you told. Thanks for this tutorial.
Just trying to share what I’ve learned in the simplest manner I can
The video helps a lot. Thank you sooo much. My home DZ is in Thailand hope i can jump at Deland one day😊
Hi Salvador, absolutly the best! Thank you so very much. Cheers Michael
Really good demo and well explained. Thank you.
Appreciate the feedback! Always trying to help if I can
I wonder how fast it would deploy without a Dbag? And for my next trick...
Thank You Brother, very thorough, clear and concise, I’ve watched a few packing videos now and I learnt and understood the most from yours, great job 👊
Appreciate the feedback. Just trying to help in anyway I can!!
Quality content mate. Excellent job. 👍👍
Appreciate the kind words! How many jumps do you have and where’s your home DZ?
@@SalvadorChangg I'm in Indiana. I have one tandem jump. And trying to get the balls to do my first solo jump. Probably going IAD but AFF looks more fun. I'm new to my DZ and have social anxiety. I'm finding it difficult to get to know people at my dz. Loved my first tandem.
Nicely demonstrated, I was a little confused how you were securing the elastic bands around the para cord. I'd be very cautious about accidently knotting something whilst packing the parachute. It takes me ages to learn things like that, I still struggle to understand how to tie a bowline. The video kept me interested from the 'beginning to the start' 😊, and I'd definitely trust you packing my chute. Regards GARY. CHEERS 👍
Haha thanks Gary, glad you enjoyed the video from beginning to start. Hope you were able to take something away from it!! Cheers and blue skies!!
@@SalvadorChangg Hi Salvador, I actually think "From Beginning To Start" is a good quote as far as packing a parachute is concerned. You need a well packed parachute from the Start.
All the best GARY
Sounds like a great t shirt idea
Great video, Salvador!! WAY different from the flat circulars, PCs, PTCH 6s, GQ Dominators, Delta II Parawings..... I used to pack. It makes me want to take up jumping again but apparently I'm too old! :-(
Wow! You were made the whole process of folding a parachute canopy so simple. I always wondered of how it's got hold. Thanks a million great job.
Glad you were able to learn something from it!!
Good stuff. I've done 1 tandem so now of course I want to go for my class A. Granted I'll be taught how to pack in class but this was good to watch to help understand the basics. I'm sure I'll still be nervous jumping my first pack job tho.
Sal is preferred packer @skydive DeLand. Never had a problem . Much love ❤️
Always appreciate you Manny! You’re a real one
@@SalvadorChangg your a great example in and out of the sport. 🤟🏼
I'm coming to Florida to zhills. But I have some friends at DeLand. Sal, I'm gonna come by and say hello. This tutorial is great!
Back in 1999 all the Packers would be rolling and rolling , and it looked crazy. I always paid for packing.
You have really explained the process. Thanks! Jan 3, 2022

Appreciate the kind words and looking forward to meeting you brother. Just trying to help other with the packing process.
Thank you very much. Well explained.
Hope it helped
I’m going to try flaking my main canopy and fold my pilot chute like you do on my next jump.
