Pairs ice skating team Katie McBeath and Nathan Bartholomay, practice their brand new Short Program from the 2020/21 season at Great Park Ice, Irvine, California.
Filming finished ice skating programs and show performances is always a thrill, but for me, some of my favorite work is simply capturing the day-to-day training run-throughs of dedicated athletes. Can you believe Katie only just switched to pairs in August of 2019, and they were already putting out this much energy and dynamism out onto the ice when I travelled to film them. I’m so glad I was there to capture it (using an abundance of safety precautions of course!).

I love watching these programs. Often the men are the unsung heroes. They have to be strong and maybe even more coordinated than the women to be able to lift them and spin and jump like they do. I admire their work. Very gifted people. 👏🏻💚
