Dude, I'm a NYC explorer having lived here for 50 years and did not know about 8 out of your 10 places!! Bravo, I'll be visiting a few of them. Thanks for the exploration and research.
As an Englishman I’d feel the need to visit the Irish Famine museum. It’s such a sad and terrible part of British history that many here in the UK don’t really know of, sometimes we need to reflect on how one person treats another, and ultimately the results of these events. 💚
Wow I was born and raised in nyc and like most New Yorkers we got shit to do and are on the move this is more for Tourist however I will try to make time to see this
There is also an Egyptian Obelisk behind the Metropolitan Museum, it's called Cleopatra's needle. And I just heard of "The Cloisters" a little far north in Manhattan but looks quite interesting.
Those parks, especially the elevated one is so so nice! I’ve lived in New York City my whole life but because there’s so much in midtown Manhattan and I never explore there a lot. I would definitely bring my friends there to play volleyball and chill or something! Edit: Just saw the very end of the video. Nvm the elevated park. WHERES THAT VOLLEYBALL COURT. Edit edit: my comment’s been highlighted? *ITS BEEN HIGHLIGHTED?!?!!?!!!??* IVE BEEN NOTICED OMG THANK YOU
I'll be there in January too for my first visit. Staying three nights and already have so many "must try" foods on my list thanks to Jon and the Food and Footprints channels that I don't know if I'll have much time to do anything aside from eating, riding the subway to the next food stop, or sleeping off a food coma at my LIC hotel. I may not make it to Central Park, the High Line or any of the other "must do" tourist spots at this rate...
Paley Park used to be my personal hidden gem when I worked nearby…I would go there for my 11:00am lunch (when there was almost no one there). I would eat my lunch and read, while the sound of the waterfall washed my brain from all of the stress … pure BLISS.
Love these suggestions - thank you! Just recently came across your videos and am enjoying all the New York tourism ideas! You have a great sense of humor and I love watching all of them. Thanks so much!
My son loves books, especially foreign language books. I loved that you showed that French bookstore. I will certainly put that on my list the next time I go. Thanks.
This was a super detailed video. Didn't know all those gems existed. I've only been to NYC in the Winter and I'm not a cold type of person. lol. When it gets warm I'm coming up to see some of these places.
Love the Elevated Acre! I go there almost every day for lunch when I’m working down in FiDi. Heads up, it’s much more crowded in there Monday - Friday between the hours of 12pm and 3pm!
We have made two-week visits each of the past three years to visit our daughter. I am putting the Irish Hunger Memorial on my list for our next visit. A highlight last year was seeing the Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer (Woman in Gold) at the Neue Galerie. I love starting very day with a walk in Central Park.
I live in Ottawa, Canada. I am under 8 hours drive from New York City and I've been to places like Lake George and Syracuse but never to NYC. I'm finally planning to go this summer. Watching all your videos.
The Irish Hunger Memorial. Great discovery! Love your channel and your presentation style. For great burgers and an endless variety of beer, how about the Queens Beerhouse in Elmhurst Queens? Come and discover one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country. Let me know if you ever come down here please. Cheers!
Native New Yorker here, also a Big Apple Greeter and a licensed NYC Sightseeing Guide. Thanks for mentioning the Greeters in another video, and your contribution to promoting NYC. I'm also gradually going through all of your NYC videos. Just a note, the Albertine Bookstore is not located in the 'French Embassy' per se, which, of course, is located in the capital, Washington, DC, but this building is formally the "Cultural Services of the French Embassy", so, an outpost of the Embassy itself, located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. (Btw, I live nearby, so I get a chance to pass by the Albertine a few times a week). A minor distinction, but important nevertheless. 🙂
There are so many nice places in NYC that I didn't know about exists in hidden areas of the big Apple. Thanks for the information and Happy Thanksgiving.
Thank you. I was born and raised in Astoria Queens in New York City from 1972 the year I was born in until January 10, 1981 when I moved to Hialeah, Florida near Miami. I love your tips and advices about traveling in New York City and New Jersey. I stayed in New Jersey in a hotel in Union City in February of 2008. Union City was once the center of the Cuban exile community in the 1969s and 1970s until the 2000s.
Great recommendations, from NYC and I haven't even known about any of these places. Just applied for a job in the Financial District and I'll be looking forward to coming there; wish me luck! Thanks man
The Elevated Acre is the only hidden gem I've been to. It's my favorite spot by far. I've visited it several times already, and I find it so peaceful. I'll definitely have to check out the other ones. Thank you for such a great video!
I am hoping to visit at the end of April. This has been on my bucket list forever. Thank you for sharing these hidden gems. I look forward to exploring as much as I can.
Some great and fun things to do in Central Park. Thanks for another interesting video! 40 yrs ago, I visited from central Connecticut to see the free concert by Simon and Garfunkle . It was wonderful ,and we couldn't see the stage but the sound was excellent .Many yrs ago a good friend moved from Manhatten to the Park Slope section of Brooklyn .I got to visit a few times and it was nice .I saw a Shakespeare production of Julius Cesar either in the Botanical gardens or the other large park. I watch one other NYC vloger and he is interesting yet doesn't have the variety you have.
I really enjoyed this video, I'm from Ontario, Canada and have been to nyc 3 times. I've seen 4 out of 10 places on this video. Next time I'm back in NYC, I will be sure to visit those other places that were on this video. Every time I watch your videos I will make notes of where to visit. Thank you!
Great video. I love going to areas that aren’t normally visited. The next opportunity I get to visit NYC, I will stop by the park. Thanks for the tips!
Hey @Here Be Barr! Just moved to NYC from Portugal (started watching your videos 6 months before). Thanks for you suggestions, it help a lot getting to know the city! Let me know if you want to have dinner at my home as a gift! :D
Elevated acre at 55 water...my friends and I smoke by there all the time...security is tough. Be careful if u tryna smoke but it's a beautiful place to take a date in warmer weather.
Would love for you to make a video like this in San Antonio. I feel like all people know about San Antonio is The Alamo and Riverwalk, which both are memorable in their own right, but are a pretty big tourist traps at the same time. Either way, keep doing what you do, as your videos made my most recent trip to NYC an awesome experience!

Wow the Irish Hunger Memorial looks beautiful, especially how they imported so much from Ireland!
I am by there so often, and I never went.. was kicking myself when I got inside as you could see.
Paley Park looks beautiful at night with the lights. And so empty without the daytime office workers there!
Actual hidden gems:
Beauty & Essex
The Basement
Blue Quarter
Erv’s in Flatbush
Mister Dips
Sushi by Bou
El Sabroso
I don’t know if you’re trying to be ironic or not but Beauty & Essex is far from being a hidden gem.
I did a video on El Sabroso before, great call :) Beauty & Essex though I'm not a huge fan of.
Beauty and essex is trash
Beauty and essex is trash
Beauty & Essex? "Hidden?" That's an oxymoron
I save every location on my Google map 😊 I going to New York next march 😊 Thank you! Greetings from Hungary, Andrea 😊

I am coming Friday! A fellow traveller 👋🏼
I love how the city has parks built into
Paley Park used to be my personal hidden gem when I worked nearby…I would go there for my 11:00am lunch (when there was almost no one there). I would eat my lunch and read, while the sound of the waterfall washed my brain from all of the stress … pure BLISS.
I think a hidden gem could be the Transit museum. Very informative and nostalgic. Best part, it's only $10

@L CM it's a martial arts practice and there are some people that do nunchucks
Type in "Ken Hill nunchucks" for more about nunchucks

Arhum Miah true one of my favorites.
Hidden parks are always my favorite...
The Taste of Persia looks like a great find. Nothing beats a storefront which offers affordable, authentic dishes.
Burger Joint is a cool spot! Definitely less of a secret these days, but love the vibe of it tucked into a fancy hotel
Hidden yes.. Secret.. sadly nope.
