As a historian I just want to elaborate on the odd shapes and textures of antique poison bottles. You’re correct that it definitely would benefit the blind, and prevent them from accidentally using or consuming poisons, but the greater reason for the unique shapes and embossing on the bottles was actually because the public at mass was illiterate. This is also where the tradition of putting skulls on poison bottles comes from; if the average person couldn’t read, then they surely would need more obvious indicators that the contents of a bottle were deadly.
All correct. However, Dior avoided the illiterate references when they released their poison perfume in the 80’s, limiting themselves to the blind references. For a brand, being associated with illiteracy was not a good look… 😉🖤
Poison was my very first perfume, purchased for me in 1986 when I was in high school by an admirer who knew I wished I could have it. Such a fond memory. I have always enjoyed a bewitching scent profile my whole life and I am 54 now. I was so delighted that you included Aromatics Elixir. This was my signature scent in the 90’s. The original formula of course. Another bewitching beauty that garnered me many compliments by (strangely enough) much older men. I wanted to tear up when you lifted up the bottle of Boudoir 🥹 I owned this beauty as well. I wish I still had my bottle. There is nothing like it. Not even close. So happy to see that our visions for bewitching beauties are aligned 🖤 I might suggest Amouage’s Memoir Woman as an interesting addition? Both the bottle and the scent are very witchy! 🐈⬛🖤Wonderfully entertaining video 💀 thank you!!
Mine is the dark cold foggy Chene by Serge Lutens containing oak, birch, immortelle.thyme and bees wax...a very forboding chilly long lived aura...a good chill for a witch's spell
Thank you for including Aromatics Elixir. The new Hermès Barénia + Armaf Club de Nuit woman intense (they seem to have been at the same party at this house with the 100 years old wooden floors and red wine corks from bottles that had been opened 2 nights ago) are my suggestions as well as Lattafa Amethyst to be included.
I am so enjoying your videos for the spooky season. They are so clever, creative and atmospheric, and you are adorable. Well done! I like all your frag choices, too, though I haven’t tried the Lorenzo Villaresi one. What a gorgeous deep blue bottle! I always thought the original Lolita Lempicka in the lavender apple bottle would be a perfect Halloween perfume. It reminded me of an enchanted forest where Hansel & Gretel encountered the witch in her gingerbread cottage, a truly evil witch, and it truly is a scary story. I don’t know if Lolita Lempicka still smells the same today but I may hunt a small bottle down. I’m not sure what perfume I’ll wear for Halloween. My husband and I don’t go out (old fogies), we usually stay home and answer the doorbell for trick or treaters. I have a witch hat and dress in black 🧙🏻 and my husband is a pirate. 🏴☠️ We don’t get many trick or treaters anymore, though, so we may end up eating the candy ourselves. I’ve been reading EA Poe and watching A Discovery of Witches this month, and watching you, too, of course. I was just this morning reading a NYTimes article online about the writer Susanna Clarke (Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell), and it said she likes to watch perfume reviews on UA-cam. I hope your channel is one she watches. I’m sure she’d enjoy it. ❤
Wonderful video, as always. I’d add Aroma Sanctum which is a shop that originated in Salem, Mass, run by an actual witch who’s a brilliant perfumer. I discovered the shop about 15 years ago and it led me to a life-long obsession with fragrance.
Hi Dacob ! Me ha encantado ésta selección de perfumes embrujados que has hecho hoy! Cómo siempre es un verdadero viaje de placer olfativo. Un gran abrazo!!.-
I need to smell the ear de toilette Poison. I’ll never forget smelling it at Lord & Taylor and I got a bad bottle of the other one I guess and it totally assaulted my senses. But even tho I actually got sick, I remember it was definitely interesting despite what was clearly a messed up bottle.
Loved this list my pretty!! 🧙!! 💕 poison is still my potion I wore the other day as soon as we got a chill. And aromatics elixir? A funny one…I wore in college made my way through two bottles but the reality was? I didn’t love it I didn’t even like it 🤭I wore it because it was popular and I wanted to like it? I loved the idea of it!! I think the oak moss or the coriander? Did me in! 😢 I have hopes to find an affordable Boudioir! I know I would love it! Darn it 😢
Gucci Guilty Absolute is also a repelling screechy ..leather, cypress, vetiver, wood and patchouli...very dry like sandalo but smells like bandages being applied..a strange scent
I have Sandalo as per your review of it yrs ago..I find it dusty/dry sandalwood w/a dry chill of incense...I wear it very infrequently..maybe once or possibly twice a year...not a fragrance that i seek out in my collection..it takes a certain mood to wear it..and the bottle no longer comes in the blue bottle..its clear now and has been for several years..i wish it was a bit more wearable frankly.
Thank you for the video, Dacob! 🖤🧡 I can add one more witches brew to that coven. It is Passion by Elizabeth Taylor. It is bitter and magnetizing at the same time. Like you have to go through the rite of initiation with that bitter potion to know what will be next...🍂🍁🖤🧡💜🎃🧙♀️
