- In this series, Joy Lin tackles six superpowers and reveals just how scientifically realistic they can be to us mere mortals.
Lesson by Joy Lin, animation by Cognitive Media.
shapeshifting probably. heart failure? shapeshift a part of ur body to make a better heart. not attractive enough? become a hotter person. want to live longer? shapeshift into a younger person.
I would choose shapeshifting. It is the most powerful power, you could turn into someone that had another power.
MineCATX0 // MinecrAftX0
It's a nice though, but if this was the case you would loose the shapeshift powers.
一天haru to to in
You can use shapeshifting to transform not just into a human but in every creature you can possibly imagine
@@maxmyzer9172 but it isnt the completely strongest superpower
The ability to manipulate time so I could slowdown the world around me so I look like I have super speed but with out having the real life drawbacks of having super speed like dying from g-force or burning to death or turning into a human missle.
Captain Malcolm Reynolds except you wouldn't be able to breathe because the air around you would be frozen or moving really slowly, even if the air inside you moves at the same rate you do, you could only slow or speed time for as long as you can hold your breath... and that's just one example of how that's also a flawed power
Numbskull2602 You could buy an Oxigen Tank
Numbskull2602 ah, but seeing as you can manipulate time and assuming you have fairly good control over it, you could simply create a bubble around you in which all the particles are sped up much like yourself. Time manipulation is basically a rather obscure power as we don't have a concise idea of what time is with some saying that time is an illusion and so on.
If you slow down time and make it appear you have super speed, guess what, you DO have super speed. You are moving quickly through space, thus creating the disastrous winds and things to that nature.
Actually time is a human concept you would stop nothing
Teleportation, cloning, immortality, invulnerability, weapon summoning, I could be a literal one man army!!
I choose complete arsenal so I would I every power
Are You Sure?
It's like u been waiting for question like this all your life 🤣
Thats the most american wish i have ever heard
All I want is a suit like Iron Man's. Now THAT would be cool.
Adelle M f h j j k k k k k k k k k k糖果盒hyuhjiuu太好聚合👴u
You would have to have iron mans body and powers too
Except no one tells us how much energy, or money the suit takes up also if our iPhones give us issue then imaging how bad it would be if the suit starts buffering at misflight lol
Rocket propeller in yo feet yeah? That would be hot, seriously.
Any superpower? Omnipotence.
The Bloody Puppet *gasp*
It is paradoxical though. Like if you're omnipotent you can do anything. So if I ask you to make a paper so strong nobody can tear it, can you tear it?
Blah Blah Blah Of course I can! Just because a mortal mind can't comprehend such a thing doesn't make it impossible!
Since if I am Omnipotence, I could make it less strong and then tear it and thus not causing a paradox.
Er wtf is that
Why I don't see a comment saying " probability manipulation "?
imagine changing the odds in your favour to pass an exam, or just the odds of getting more superpowers
If I were to pick from the list you explore in this series, I would combo body mass and super strength. From the larger pantheon, I'd go for techno- and electrokinesis.
I’d want to be able to think about multiple things at once, like I’d be able to memorise my French verbs and think about my plans with friends at the same time. Can you imagine how much you’d be able to do and learn within a limited amount of time? You’d be able to talk to a person and simultaneously think about what you want to say and how to say it, so you never mess up a conversation again. I just think that’d be awesome
I think I would be an universal shapeshifter with psychic powers.
Basically, God?
+He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named God can create universes xD
+Silverdrago1 hes also made up much like the superheros in question
I've always thought of this as a kid.... after heaving thinking, I think being invisible would be the best. You could do anything, ride anything, and literally go anywhere you wanted. You could even take anything (evil part). But other than that, imagine the things you could see, get into, discover, reveal, etc just by being invisible. You could know almost everything about everybody, and could access any secret location or protected area on earth. You could get onto planes, boats, anything.
Watching the series of videos depressed me, since all the cool superpowers would result in me not being able to control them at all.
I'd like either the ability to convert matter or the ability to manipulate time and/or probability
You should also cover: shape-shifting, time manipulation, elasticity, telekinesis, and teleportation.
I feel so invited-ly enlightened. Thanks guys 😊
1.The ability to breathe under water.
Dont talk anything about water pressure.
2.The ability to generate/control certain elements
Fire- Your cells overheats and you can generate fire (But the cells wont die bcuz of the heat), and that goes for ice.
Electricity- Your cells can conduct electricity. Conduct electricity from one side of your body and release it from the other side.
Earth/rock: idk.
I'd choose the ability to be able to create portals and link them at will. Imagine the posibilities.
Bas van de Kleut
neat.
Earth/Rock: The cells would reabsorb it's dead particles and dust particles and fuse them into earth.
Thats a cool and some modest power. Still very usefull. I hate being tired.
Ooh, I would have to pick perfect aim, teleportation, manipulation of the mind and body, super speed, or controlling the elements.
Just went through all these videos. Now my dreams of getting a super power are shattered.
Teleportation or Flight.
Depends on the method of teleportation, spacial warping could be used to teleport, but wouldn't involve destroying bits of one's anatomy.
Besides, most of the cells in your body are replaced naturally every seven years, so the identity/consciousness question is already here.
The real problems with teleportation are more interesting though. What happens if you teleport from sea level to the top of a tall mountain? Altitude sickness and the bends, that's what.
I would go with telekinesis, I'd be able to move anything I want no matter how heavy, I'd be able to stop bullets, I'd be able to create a stationary bubble of air around myself and move it and myself wherever I want at fast speeds.
Time Manipulation. Like, being able to stop, start, rewind and fastforward time would literally make me super OP. I could fix any mistake I could make and have a sneak peek in the future now and then.
you could even erase time whatever that means
Give me a link to the playlist, these are awesome and I want to watch all of them!
I would manipulate light, in any way I want.
I also would want to be able to rewind time, with keeping my memory. Imagine you are in a play, and mess up one of your lines. You could easily go to the moment you started, and have a second chance. The only drawback to the rewind power, is that going too far back could remove things that you can’t get back to.
This isn't on the list but telekinesis! It's the force!
Actually, the force is a "living, breathing entity that surrounds us, penetrates us, and binds the universe together." This includes more abilities than just telekinesis.
I would want to be able to shapeshift into any animal while still keeping my mind/human psyche. So many superpowers would be encompassed in this, flying (without the drawbacks from their previous video), breathing underwater, seeing in the dark, becoming nearly invisible, speed, strength, changing size...etc
I would choose to have faster perception, and therefore increase my reaction time.
The series was amazing.
To never be exhausted and have my muscles never undergo any strain whatsoever, so essentially I would just not get tired or have any of the side effects of exhaustion or tiredness (i.e. never being out of breath) though I would still not be able too lift anything to heavy, I would just not get tired by doing so.
I don't know, I'd kind of like having time to myself to meander around the city. Being able to teleport would get way too stressful when you could be anywhere in an instant, especially if people know it!
I'm a major procrastinator, so stopping time would work out quite a bit better for me. :)
You still have to get that force from something to lift stuff, but if you just got the power from ?xx? and it dont effect you, then its awesome.
I like this series. While I don't like the naysayer to super heroes that seem to stem off these when hero comics are about suspension of disbelief, this has given me some good ideas on powers going wrong, which is a common theme in my comics to come.
I would just want the infinite capacity and ability to remember or understand anything at will. Knowledge for me is power. Once I have knowledge, I can derive all the other superpowers if I choose to have it. At the same time, a person who can control time, will have an infinite time to learn as well which is almost the same thing. Though with einstein's theory of relativity, it's only possible to travel to the future not to the past, so I'll stick with knowledge.
CuriousCat Basically omniscience
Lovely animation!
Transmutation, it turns shape shifting and matter manipulation into one power and grants you the ability to turn anything into anything else
Obviously. Not only does it have no downside, but it is useful, powerful, and fits my personality.
Eyes opened, thanks for info.
I guess than only super intelligence can solve these issues.
Let us know how super intelligence can be kept in science of superpowers. i.e. addition to this playlist.
Please make a video about healing powers. The ability to heal yourself and others! That's the superpower I've always wanted.
Your cancer cells would have the power too making them able to duplicate super fast killing your body via infection.
The ability to create whatever you imagine. That would give you access to every super power, you could make a potion that gives you super speed, super strength, or whatever your heart desires.
Accelerator's power (control over all vectors) from the A Certain Magical Index franchise. It's not too OP but it's very cool.
I love how they call it the heroes assemble even before Captain America 😂
I would chose flight because, just like choosing to swim, rather than walk on the bottom, you could chose if you wanted to use it or not.
Fantastic topic to review. Thank you for ruining my childhood dreams...
J/K these videos were great, cheers!
cmon we want more of this !!
if I wanted any superpower it would to create any super power I wanted and the ability to give them at will and use them at will , but my limitation is that once I make a power I could only use it a certain amount of times or give it to someone so they can use it any time they want.
He's amazing
The correct answer is the power of Creation. Specifically with the ff conditions:
1. Creation using your imagination and then make it appear in real life whenever or wherever.
2. Doing so will not break any rules of physics for they are exception to the rules (you can make a real pie appear irl, eat it, gain appropriate mass, like a normal pie wouls. But it wouldn't use any matter to create the pie. )
3. Can create anything, everything, abstract, concrete. Real or not. It doesn't matter. You can create it. (Basically you can create another power, example, speed. Then thru further edits if your power you can circumvent the weaknesses of your power, like when saving peopl, you kill them)
4. No limit to how large, small, dense, fast, long, slow or whatevs.
I would either have the ability to eat any food without negative consequences, being able to pull the exact change out of my pocket for any purchase that I make, or super intelligence.
Here are my most favorite superpowers
-Reading minds
-Shapeshifting
-Possession
-Hypnosis
damn, i'd be a good-ass spy.
I'd like to see the ability to stop time/motion or in control of one of the elements i.e. wind.
the best super power would be to know everything. it would encompass all the powers.
One thing I have found unsatisfying about teleportation is the identity question. Say the starship Enterprise beams you down to a planet, scattering your atoms then reassembling them somewhere else. Who is to say that you did not just die, and a new "you" was created and is now living your life?
I wish I could have extremely strong telekinesis that allows me to control thing at a molecular level. I can create, destroy anything out from my surrounding materials. A perfect opponent for me would be someone who could create anything with their mind, regardless of surrounding material. (Like Green Lantern, but stronger.)
No, I mean tear, like torn. And yes, a tear in space. You're right, I am talking about a wormhole, a tiny one, which a person with the power of teleportatation (which also may or may not exist) would be able to generate inside of them, hence TELEPORTING them to another location. This person would be able to survive because they have a SUPER POWER! But I don't need to tell you that.
Angel powers for me: move with the speed of thought at will, invisibility at will, the healing touch (a combination of biopathy and biokinesis), ability to speak and understand ANY language---including animal---telepathy, telekinesis, shapeshifting, the ability to generate my own light at will (glowing in the dark), and flight because of the beautiful and powerful angel wings.
Do more of this
a cute intro! Thanks!
My superpower would be super speed below Mach 1, that way I could run at a speed where I could still have time to react and dodge obstacles, and I wouldn’t have my eardrums damaged by a sonic boom when I passed the speed of sound. Super speed, if it obeys the laws of physics, doesn’t have many heroic applications, because anybody I tried to rescue would just be killed by G-forces. Without superhuman reaction speed as well, I wouldn’t be able to do things like stop bullets. I think it would just be fun to run really fast, not necessarily for heroic purposes.
What about super intelligence or telekinetic/ telepathic powers? Maybe the ability to see the future? I'd would very much like to know what science has to say about that. Actually, there's many things that I'd like to know, but I'd need a lot more room to list them all.
I feel like 9 out of 10 people in the comments section, if given the power they requested, will live to regret having it.
Sure, having "flawless" powers like omnipotence would be fun for a while, but once you get to that power level, you stop feeling reality as real. Imagine if real life felt like a video game. You'll end up succumbing to nihilism much faster and feel like you're forced to live in a meaningless world, and you'd end your own existence, or worse, if you're absolutely immortal, there is no end to your meaningless existence. Similar things have literally happened to people who win the lottery, a majority of people who win the jackpot regretted winning it a few years later as the money makes them not need to do anything to survive, and causing them to lose their grasp on reality, succumbing to nihilism as a result.
Imagine always being high on drugs because that high is reality. You'd like it for a few days, and then you'd realize how horrible your choice is as it's an endless drug trip.
It is human nature to seek the ultimate power, but a lot of people here, if given such powers, would not be able to handle it.
The people who ask for minor powers that help with their quality of life are the ones who made the right choice.
I want to talk to plants, and they can talk back, that’s all I want
@Pursuit of Sleep Worlds loneliest person right here. (I think this would be cool too, tbh)
You really don't have imagination
BlindGod It’s not that I lack an imagination, It’s just that no other superpowers really appeal, flying or speed or strength. I just don’t want those. Invisibility, shape shifting or elemental manipulation either. It’s not that I find them bland it’s the opposite. I want to lead a normal life, and having a superpower that connects me more with a hobby I have. Sounds great, imagine every time you need to vent there’s a rose ready to listen. Or say there’s a cactus in your kitchen window still that’s memorized cooking recipes. Sorry this is long I’ve just given it a lot of thought.
I would pick Super Strength and Invisibility/Camouflage through having chameleon skin. Both through genetic mutation. You never disproved those were so impossible as to cause harm to myself or cause drastically negative side effects. Realistically - Super Strength through myostatin-related muscle hypertrophy and I guess a special form of Vitiligo mutated to allow me to change my skin color at will.
You're making the assumption that you are moving through time and space when actually you are teleporting from one location to another via a tear in space...so yeah...teleportation by far.
I would just go to Hogwarts :D
+Dasha Bran same man, same
Same
There should be an episode about Teleportation
Being able to create a time bubble around me, so I could sleep as long as I wanted to...thought I would get older faster than others... perhaps being not able to die of age aswell. 🤷♀️
Don't forget the speed difference of the earth's rotation depending on your altitude on one hand, and the current latitude on the other. Along with the lovely phenomena called inertia, this can result in anything from a comic stumble upon arrival to way nastier results ... :p
Complete control of gravity. You could bend time and space and, in effect, fly.
Cloning myself and deleting clones, what could possibly go wrong?
The ability of learning anything instantaneously.
being able to grow or shrink myself and people around me.
But hat is what more or less happens during an individual's lifetime: basically our atoms change from time to time. Even though our identity remains the same in the same, at the molecular and atomic level we are constantly changing.
I would choose shapeshifting. It is the most powerful power, you could turn into someone that had another power.
The ability to make nearby people feels certain emotions or "feelings", such as fear to avoid a superior opponent, curiosity, rage, sadness, to cause distractions or etc., trustworthiness, so enemies will willingly believe whatever you say.
This power obeys all the laws of physics that I can this of, because everything required to make a human feel these things is already in their body, you'd just be manipulating it.
I would like to have a debate about my power, please try to undermine me
man thats over powered i would like that to make some people love me and make people feel scared when i get mad but then id get corrupted and wanna control everyone thats why i dont like super powers
You wanna go. The power of fucking probability. 100% chance in the next microsecond you lose all your powers to a freak accident but I am safe because I licked my shoulder.
first off due to a genetic mutation my bones are completely unbreakable... that's pretty superhero like right?... also a friend of mine is immune to most poisons... she once accidentally consumed enough arsenic to kill a horse and lived with very little harm... also I would rather have the power to create infinity objects... basically if I put something together personally... if that item would normally use a finite resource... it no longer does... for example if I had a pistol that I put together... the gun would fire an infinite number of bullets... or if I build a cell phone... the cell phones battery would never die...
Braidborn just because you bones are invincible doesn't mean you can't die
Tenebris Evernight of course not that's silly where did you get that idea from?... however I do have a bit of "super strength" due to the fact that Most people if they tried to lift up a car their bones would snap before they succeeded... Mind you I've never actually lifted a car but because my bones would never snap... I would have a greater chance of success than normal... Though if the friend I mentioned and I get married I would not be surprised if our kids couldn't... Lol
I wonder if you could make yourself fly if you had an ability to control you density or buoyancy?
I would stop / slow-down time, assuming you don't age while stopped or age slower when slowed-down. :D I feel like it would negate most other powers, like teleportation, because you would have *all* the time you need to get over to wherever you wanted to go. If you were in a race with someone who teleports you could beat them and still have taken 20,000 hours... I guess you would have to have a lot of patience, then. And you could take however long you wanted to complete homework, essays, work stuff, or whatever task you're given... Maybe you'd go insane with how much time you have, though, kinda like immortality. O_O
Either that or telekinesis because, honestly, who doesn't want telekinesis?
I would choose meta ability creation so that I would be able to give myself any superpower and eventually stock up a infinite number of superpowers to use for myself and others.
Cryokenisis: the power to manipulate and bend ice and snow to my will, and to freeze anything with moisture.
Thermokenisis: The ability to change temperatures.
I could be a god with this power. I could move entire glaciers, I could freeze the entire earth, I could just freeze the blood of anyone to stop the flow of blood and it would immediately kill them, maybe I could build an ice castle just like Elsa, or I could freeze someone and just fling them across a city block because I would have the ability to move ice too. I could also unfreeze things and warm things up so I wouldn't need a microwave to heat up frozen dinners.
After all theses years I still agree that the flying guy and the speedster's names should be swapped
stopping time is the more powerful superpower
teleportation wasn't covered so clearly there is nothing wrong with that-i'll take it
how about manipulating the speed and direction of molecules/atoms in the atmosphere?
Pausing time: the absolute best superpower in any situation. Can top anything in a fight (even telekinesis or teleportation) when you can freeze the person in their tracks and stab them in the back.
It would definitely be my first choice, but only under one condition: I am also granted eternal youth. Because I don't want to overdo my superpower and end up dead before I reach 30.
Also, if you're a really good telekinetic, you can just freeze every molecule in the world for the same result! :D
how are you going to breathe if you pause time, since the air molecules would also be frozen in time?
I'm torn between telekinesis, teleportation and healing factor. Always have been. Of course, the last one can be sort of achieved with pigs-bladder powder.
Then again, some sort of healing power would be cool.
impact/collision manipulation that would be cool
I would summon food whenever I want. Nothing wrong with that right?
The ability to shape-shift. I hope it’s not painful though.
Super speed, technically if you could go fast enough you would be invisible, going at hyper speed also increases your mass, giving you support strength as well, seconds would will like forever, life would feel endless. Super speed practically covers most other super powers.
Once again, that also requires traveling much faster than the speed of light. The friction alone would kill you, not to mention other junk that might get in your way.
I would chose physchic abilities there is nothing wrong with that ability right?
I think I would want to be able to change any element into another element.
In all your superhero videos you have forgot the Required Secondary Powers!
Any of the superpowers would be awesome as long as you have the
Required Secondary Powers.
The ability to freeze time means that one would have to halt the rotation of the earth. If that were to happen, whichever side of the earth that is facing away from the sun might eventually freeze to death. Although earth's atmosphere my stall that for a while. No one can reverse time, and speeding it up or slowing it down require traveling faster than light. And after all of this, who's to say that all clocks will adhere to what you were trying to do? Abstract time will continue as normal.
Spider-Man, Ben 10, Mario,Link, or just a simple ninja with super abilities.
I'd like to have the powers of The Flash, which would include of course, access to the extra-dimensional "speed force" that allows him to move and think as super speed without personal injury. It's fun to fantasize, but really, what we've achieved with science is even more amazing! Comic book fantasy is entertaining, and fun, but reality and science is way more exciting and just plain cool!
an oracle cell (in god eater game)and a power to defy laws of universe
Easy, full control on probability. That's the most infamous superpower you could choose
This is a cool series, but I was struck by a small wave of depression at 1:10, because of that big dip in the life expectancy graph around 1914-1920ish...
Yeah, that would certainly have its downsides. But I would be so scared of aging too quickly that I would never use my power!
Perhaps having a normal life span would work and "time outside of time" wouldn't count, but then my deathbed would be the end of all time since I would probably try to guarantee myself immortality. :P
Infinite stamina would be pretty cool. Very useful, but not unusual enough to be significantly noticeable.
Memory manipulation and glitching (doing anything a glitch can)(in reality and digitally).
