I really feel that every doctor and nurse should have to study your videos. My mother is 89 and still on HRT. Her doctor said to her recently when she told him that she has been having hot sweats recently that she should never have been on HRT for so long and should come off it immediately. I said 'Why?' He had no answer! I told him what I knew about the benefits of HRT and said that except for her arthritis, she's very healthy and should stay on it. My mother said to her doctor that she has enough to put up with her pain, why should she have to suffer more by coming of her HRT? It seems so unfair that women have such a battle within the medical profession.

You are absolutely correct, and I am proud of both you and your mother for advocating for yourselves. I always say, "Don't dissect a rose." That means, if it isn't broken, don't fix it. Or, if you are doing well, don't change things.

@@salviaprezzemolo2165 Hi there, my mother had a hysterectomy before menopause in her late forties I believe, after she had her last child at 44. It was a few years later after that, I don't recall how long, I have asked her but she does not remember, she was put on oestrogen after having a terrible time with hot flushes and sprouting bristles on her chin....I wonder why?! She was put on low dose patches 0.3mg from the start. If I had had the the knowledge I now have thanks to Menopause Taylor I would have insisted she was put on a higher dose from the start. She was diagnosed with having spinal arthritis and had a spinal operation which has caused her such severe pain. I wonder whether she actually had osteoporosis all along, as she has lost a lot of height and is bent over and can barely walk. She is severely disabled now, although healthy, and of sound mind, I have to care for her now. Arthritis is not in my family. Sorry, so long-winded but I am very upset for my mother's predicament. We are in the UK. I have been on high dose HRT for the last 9 years and I am so healthy and active and take no other medication at 63. I am told they will try to get me off it soon. No way Jose! I hope this has been helpful. 😊

I wish I’d known about the link between menopause, heart, brain and bone health! I now know profoundly more about the repercussions of my ageing rmenopausal body from your tutorials. At 57 I’m back on track again in trying to better manage my menopause only now with a different added focus - my heart, brain and bone health. Ive been frustrated because like most women depending on where we live in the world I have to hunt high and low for a doctor who “gets it”. If a GP (General Practitioner) is said to specialize in ‘women’s health’ it more often means either fertility and aged care. When she does find a ‘menopause specialist’ it’s as if she were seeing a specific disease specialist and the costs are ridiculously higher than the GP who specializes in women’s health. Thank God for you Dr Taylor. However God help the rest of us drowning in the rough ocean of medical ignorance and neglect regarding menopause!

I’ve been neglected for years... been to a ton of doctors who treated symptoms that I was having... uveitis, itchy skin, heart palpitations, insomnia, weight gain, flashes, constipation etc...they even thought I had an autoimmune disease... wanting to dope me up with meds ... not ever clueing in on the fact that I was menopausal. It wasn’t till I learned from you and went to an endocrinologist ( after visiting 4 Gyn docs) that I was able to have a deep conversation about what was going on in my body and what remedy to use to calm things down. My mom, sisters and friends had nothing to offer in advice other than to pray about it... since I felt like I was losing my mind, prayer was their remedy. I felt so helpless! Till I discovered your channel. Thank you!!! I have started this phase of my life differently... dropping a lot of things and people along the way... this has been a life shift for me. Now that I've been educated on the topic by you, I can't get them fast enough...and I'm afraid I'm having a difficult time getting them! What irony! After our consult earlier this month, I asked my doctor to prescribe me a bisphosphonate for my severe osteopenia Tscore -2.4. I told him I scheduled an appontment with a gynecologist and planned on going on HRT and therefore would like the bisphosphonate to address my bone loss, since those are the meds to be taken together with HRT. He told me he'd like me to see an endocrinologist and see what he says. He wouldn't prescribe me the drug!! Unreal! My appointment with the gynecologist is today, Im hoping that if I play my cards right, like you counselled me, I may get what I want. This is sheer madness.

I can't in any way place any blame on our mothers. The major (maybe even sole) responsibility for the neglect regarding this subject falls on the medical community. They should be ashamed of themselves. It should be part of the conversation all women have with their doctors during their annual exams when they reach a certain age, well before menopause occurs. My only guess as to why the change of life is neglected is the historically, average lifespans were shorter, so the majority didn’t live long enough to have a natural menopause.
But for decades, people have been living decades longer, and so it should no longer be swept under the rug.
I lived in a 55+ community, but was well under that age myself. I’d made many friendly acquaintances who I was able to talk about everything under the sun, our female anatomy, sex, but being confused about what to expect while I was going through what I later learned was peri menopause, I tried asking those elderly women about menopause, but kept getting the same terse reply of, “well, I had a hysterectomy “, and that was the end of discussion.
My mother, who was very frank about educating me about periods, had a hysterectomy at about 35, a surgical menopause.
I was mystified because from age 40 until nearly 46, the menses were very irregular, until they finally went away by 46.
Having had suffered decades of excruciating endometriosis and not wanting to bear children, I was eagerly looking forward to my menopause finally being over.
About the man in my life, yes, because I was so curious about the changes in the skipped periods, I gave him an unsolicited play by play of all my changes.
A few years after it was over for good, I saw the aging on my face and breasts and decided it was time for, not a mommy makeover, but a menopause makeover, so off to a plastic surgeon I went. During one of my many follow up visits, the doctor’s wife, his business manager, a few years or so older than me, commiserated that there just isn’t enough information about menopause. A doctor’s wife!
I tell you what, despite a dexa scan revealing poor bone density, I have been embracing this stage of my life! No more pelvic pain driving me to alcoholism, no more disgusting messes and embarrassing odors from it, no more pads, tampons or liners! I feel free and liberated!
Maybe these uptight prudes just don’t want to be reminded of the aging process and that we all get older if we live long enough.
But I have been viewing this new season of my life as a new chapter to embark upon, and it’s given me time to take stock of my life and to improve my nutrition and to make other positive changes like stress management, etc.

I m in the way of fell better .I'm not going to suffer .hope things are going to better but I tell you dr barbie fear of HRT is still here and hard to erase.

I'm not a bit surprised, Jennifer. I chose the most unpopular topic on earth and then turned my channel into a classroom.
Menopause is THE most neglected topic on earth ... even by women themselves. I always warn my viewers that their friend will shun them & their mention of menopause.
But the trick is this: DO NOT tell them that THEY need this education. Instead talk only about YOURSELF and how little you knew before getting it. Say that you had everything all wrong and were about to make every mistake. They'll listen to that.

One piece of information I have found is that Testosterone is a schedule 3 drug because it is often abused. Men apparently try to get "high" on testosterone. Estrogen on the other hand is not on the DEA's schedule of controlled & dangerous substances. My husband will turn 60 in January & I will turn 60 in May. That's how I ran across this tidbit of info.

Can anyone explain to me the why of stopping all hrt for 5 days then to start up. I know it’s to imitate a ‘cycle’ but I’m 51 with no uterus. Very wise video. I think that women don't speak about menopause essentially because they don't have enough education about the subject and because it's really a taboo, it's the end of the reproductive period of our lives and women are still objectify with motherhood role in society! it's also identifying with ageing,... I agree with you, if were men who had to pass thorugh it there were testosterone machines in every corner ;). We still live in a men world. Thanks for your Work. Let's try, each one of us, to make step by step changes to live in a more authentic world. Bless.
