    Cant imagine we come out of the draft with only one new piece for the secondary

    Burton is a great weapon, but Indy doesn't draft guys with major character issues.

    • @jdmbapastor5172
      @jdmbapastor5172 6 місяців тому +1

      Generally, that is correct. But, Ballard does make exceptions. Bobby Okereke was accused of "character issues" (pre-draft) and still got selected on Day 2.

      @@jdmbapastor5172 Wow, is this a reach.
      Bobby O had a complaint filed against him to the university, in which even they were unable to escalate the accusation. Not a police investigation, not a grand jury, a liberal university, in the middle of Palo Alto, was unable to escalate the charge to investigate further. No formal charges were made. No punishments by issued by the university
      Burton on the other hand smacked/punched/slapped/hit/assaulted or whatever other word you want to use, a female fan in the head after losing a football game. This is not in dispute, it's on video. He acknowledged he did it. He apologized later by saying “I can’t hold that against myself forever. But a mistake is a mistake..."
      It is a vastly different set of circumstances between Case #1; someone being accused, without evidence, and even a lack of evidence sufficient enough for a university to deny further investigation. Case #2 video recording of a woman being 'hit', acknowledgment by both parties that it did happen, and an 'apology' in which Burton forgave himself.

      @@basilfawlty241 Thank you for clarifying.
      I did not mean to counter-act your primary point. If there is sufficient evidence and the charges are substantial enough, the Colts do tend to avoid those guys. I did not know the current accusations against Burton.
      My point was just that "character issues" or claims thereof do not by themselves take guys off the Colts board. In fact, it was Okereke taking ownership of the issue (and directly addressing it with teams) that caused the Colts to keep him on their board.
      Thank you again for noting the issues surrounding Burton!

      @@jdmbapastor5172 Yes, they certainly do. I am fairly happy with the due diligence the team has taken given this issue with accusations and allegations. I tend to believe that Bobby being honest and upfront with merely the claim says quite a bit about his character.
      Whereas Burton's apology to himself says quite a bit about his character just the same.
      Pretty happy with Bobby O as a Colt player, I wish finances allowed us to keep him. Burton on the other hand seems like a complete 1st class dbag. I would initially be disappointed if we drafted him. Though, as I said, I tend to give the Colt's current brass some credit in this department and would try to hold judgment until a later time.

    Some of yall don’t realize the secondary literally had 2 rookies last year who more than held their own.

  • @philpetty1179
    @philpetty1179 6 місяців тому +1

    Look at Alec Pierce's stats for his first 2 years and compare them to Reggie Wayne's first 2 years.
    If AR stays healthy this year, Pierce should have a breakout year opposite Pittman. That should leave Downs open in the slot a lot more often too.
    I say go Brock Bowers if he's still there at #15 or take the best CB at that pick to add much needed depth in the secondary.

    I'm sorry but I believe Jalani Woods showed he could be a really good tightend his rookie season. It sucked that he was injured all of last season. People want to give high praise to Ballard for his drafting but I just don't see it. If a GM has to draft the sane position over and over again before he gets the right guy then he's not very good at drafting. Ballard is trash at drafting DB's, Defensive Ends and if they're looking to draft Brock Bowers then Ballard then add tightend to the list only because he has drafted a tightend several years in a row. The team doesn't need Granson,Olgletree, Mallory, Cox, Woods, and now Bowers. Then last year he also wasted a pick on Darius Rush. As a GM, it's your job to make these picks count. Other than Pittman and Downs Ballard has also been terrible at drafting WR's. All he's good at is offensive lineman and occasionally linebackers.

    Best draft, pick 15 Quinyon Mitchell, trade back in 2nd and get an extra 3rd pick Jaden Hicks, 3rd round pick Malichi Corley, extra 3rd pick Cam Hart. 4th round pick Audric Estime. I'll end it there. I have another one I think could be even better and involves trading back from pick 15 to get an extra 2nd rounder.

    • @basilfawlty241
      @basilfawlty241 6 місяців тому

      Malichi Corley does not fit the Colts to properly improve them. He would only split reps from Downs and neither would be able to excel. Cam Hart is vastly overrated by the Colt fanbase for some reason. I can't argue with your method, but I don't like your 3rd round choices.

    • @lesrhoads8730
      @lesrhoads8730 6 місяців тому

      @@basilfawlty241 Cam Hart is under rated. He was just over shadowed by Benjamin Moorison at ND. And Corley is a yards after catch beast. They have already stated that Downs can play outside as well so Corley would make a good addition. They have to get someone that can return kicks because Downs will get injured to much doing that.

      @@lesrhoads8730 You have to ignore the 'they say' part. Ballard always tells us he loves his last roster spot people. It's just the nature of public relations. Sure, they can do it but it's not the best fit, so why do it when you have better options. Deion could play WR too, but that did not last very long for a reason.
      Guess we will just have to disagree on Hart though. I certainly don't think he's underrated. He has the size, he has smarts, but I don't know.. just seems like he should be better. If he gets it together he could be pretty good ill grant that. Im not sure we need more midround potential talent though. We need a top guy

    Chris Ballard will probably do what he does best and that’s TRADE BACK 🙄 its just what he does, always trying find that diamond in the rough, always trying to “think outside the box” which hasn’t worked much (results wise), so whoever you have as a bonfide pick is DEFINITELY not gonna be the one. Your better off looking at some players on some lame ass team like Butler, Rice or some college team down in Iowa or some crap.. Chris Ballard is SUPER overrated man. Cant wait till he’s GONE

      If Bowers is there that means 14 other teams passed on him! No brainer! We always talk about weapons on offense but why not a weapon on defense. Q. Mitchell is more versatile and less injury prone than Bowers but no one talks about that. Pierce was doing great until Minshew came in the game! When our starting corners went down the back ups were a huge drop off so why not build solid depth with a very talented defensive back!
