    How about loading the rear tire and rolling the front. No messing with chains, shaft drives, gears, etc.. The front is supposed to roll free. Strap from each handlebar back to keep the wheel straight and you are good.

    It's $1,000?!?! You guys really need to work on the price point. I can buy a high end hydraulic motorcycle lift for $899. There are many competitors with the same style of tow mechanism and the most expensive one is $169. It looks well made and I'm sure a very good design. But as a fellow entrepreneur I have to say that you are shooting yourself in the foot with such a high price tag.

    • @alphaonemotorcycletowhitch7034
      @alphaonemotorcycletowhitch7034  7 років тому +2

      Hello Nathan- Thank you for your feedback. Our competitors charge that price because of the quality. Ours have a lifetime warranty along with a five minute loading time, which only takes one person. All or most of the competitors models take more than one person and most still need to tie down the handle bars. Our product is also D.O.T. approved. Will a hydraulic lift fit in the trunk of your car like the Alpha One would? Our product is about convenience. What if your bike breaks down? Instead of paying for a tow, etc...

      @alphaonemotorcycletowhitch7034  7 років тому +1

      Hello Christopher- How would you waste your tires? The front tire experience the wear when you during acceleration and braking. It all depends on how far you want to tow your bike. Unless you plan on going cross country this will not waste your tires.

      If there seriously selling theae for 1000 dollars y would any one buy them u can by a small flat bed trailer for 5 or 6 that u can use more than just hauling motorcycles. Hell u can get a decent flatbed trailer for 12 or just go to harbor freight and buy a cheap one for 5. Like insaid seams like a waste for something that only has one use for

      @@johnstrickland3933 Eh not necessarily.. my point is moot anyways because I can't find this product (or any other) that is safe to tow a motorcycle.. but.. here is a case example.
      I have a motorcycle, and I want to do a river trip with a buddy of mine. So my plan is to tow my motorcycle to the exit point, drop it off, then continue to the entry point and park my car there. The idea is that once we are done with the river trip, My buddy stays with the gear, I drive my motorycle up to the car, and then go back to pick up my friend.
      The problem is weight, my motorcycle weights 400 lbs wet. If you add a trailer thats probably another 100 to 200 lbs, then also you gotta think about the canoe on top plus all the gear inside. My car is a 1999 and can only handle so much. Additionally storage, where am I gonna put the trailer when I'm not using it? I live in an apartment.. don't have a drive way.
      Additionally, you don't have to register this tow dolly. Which adds savings. Hopefully this can justify what I'm saying. If I could find a safe reliable way to tow a motorcycle with the front wheel only I'd buy it even if it cost $1000

    Thanks for all the comments. I'm looking for a way to tow my new bike and I'm thinking a trailer that the whole bike goes on is better. I was wondering about the back wheel being down and besides putting the bike in neutral, what can you do to prevent clutch wear? Do you tie the clutch handle down? Seems like a bad idea. Short of removing the chain or drive shaft (depending on your bike) I can't see how this would be good for the bike and since it's not available in retail I'm guessing this idea died. And I agree, the price point is WAY too high. I have already seen flatbeds for bikes that are cheaper.

      The wear on the clutch only happens when It's operated. The wear in this case would be similar to driving the bike for hours without shifting gears. No problem.

      @roryhennessey1983 Рік тому

      @Mxaviair I'm not so sure. Most manual transmissions require pulling the drives haft with tows like this. The gear lube doesn't circulate properly and it'll burn out the gearbox. I'm currently thinking about buying one of these styles of m/c haulers. I don't know why they are not more popular

That lean in curves makes this seem like a really bad solution - why couldnt the locked in front wheel be sitting on some kind of axle allowing the entire bike to lean down during turns? Would make the front and rear of the bike act more natural as if where riding - Just a thought - perhaps something to explore

      ummm some if not most of the gears sit in oil... if a gear in oil spins it will throw and splash oil on other components.
      plus your thinking of the mechanics of it as if the bike is running and IN GEAR. There is NO power to the rear wheel when in neutral. so no energy should transfer to the trans if the wheel is spun while in neutral as well. no clutch engagement no power transfer either direction.

    VERY bad idea. I've been in towing many years. I tow everything from bikes to Heady-duty super loads. First off; You still need drag lights since the load exceeds 4' from the tractor's tail lights. At the very least, you need a 1'x1' red flag at the end, but even then, legality might vary from city to city and of course, if it's night time. Second; If you do decide to tow this way, you've GOT TO, GOT TO, ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY GOT TO disconnect the trans. Older bikes might be okay with short distances, but not newer bikes. You're taking a risk. You could fry your transmission or worse; Catch your bike on fire. Finally, third; Only raise the front a few inches so that the forks and the overall tree are minimally torqued during turning. I hope this helps. Again: Bad idea. Full suspension of the bike is best.

    If you drive like this longer than 400 miles technically you would have to lube your motorcycle chain 🤷🏻‍♂️
    What if they forgot to take the bike out of gear? Fucked motorcycle especially in a low gear like first would easily blow the motor like geez.
    Serious wear on transmission gears in Neutral which means you would have to lock the clutch off somehow.
