Seems funny that the dining rooms are only 1 floor. We are so used to Royal where they have multi story dining rooms. Looks more like what they did on the Anthem of the Seas. That ship has 1 floor dining rooms. Thanks for showing the dining rooms. It makes sense of all the videos you have done in the past with the dining rooms. Have fun. Your TTG cheerleaders
I have only been on Celebrity once. It was a solo transatlantic on the Edge. I _loved_ the way they did the dining. I cycled through the four MDRs like clockwork, Seriously, 15 dinners, never had a bad meal, or got bored with the menus. My favourite entre was the Lamb phyllo in Cyprus. I'm taking Lady K. on Edge to Alaska in a week and can hardly wait.
Very informative video! Lots of great tips for what can be a confusing dining situation on the Edge class ships. I agree with you about dining in the MDRs (or Blu, when space is available) even when staying in a suite. They are less fussy and formal than Luminae.
Was extremely frustrated before our 2 weeks of B2B on the Ascent in mid February that we could not pre-book any of the main dining rooms on the app other than 9pm or 9:30 and we are NOT late diners. And ALL if the specialty dining seemed to be already fully booked, despite multiple Celebrity emails on dining sale deals. Apparently we should have done this much, much further in advance. We are also not buffet people as love the ambiance and service in a dining room. Luckily with help if the Concierge/Captains Club desk staff once onboard we were able to obtain ALL the desired bookings, including Le Petit Chef, Eden, Le Voyage, Rooftop Garden Grill, Raw on 5 (×2). They must hold quite a number tables back for on board booking (more profit). The down side was having to pay full price for Specialty dining (no pre cruise discount). Anyway all of the main dining rooms let us just walk up and ask for a table if we desired to arrive at a different time, especially as there was only 2 of us. Was informed that the main dining reservations were more critical for larger groups.
Pro tip: you can always book an inconvenient time for specialty dining, then change the date and or time when you get onboard. This way you may still take advantage of any pre-booking discounts.
The specialty dining was completely booked up or basically not released to be available (all times) pre-cruise. Our travel agent even called Celebrity to clarify this, and they reluctantly granted us the Le Petit Chef for the first night.
@@carolcrawford5831 - Sorry. Yes, I guess your travel agent should have told you to book your dining reservations as soon as it became available. At least now you know for next time?
You basically did what we do. We don't bother making reservations before the cruise. We also like to eat early so we just walk up to one of the main dinning rooms at about 5:15( they usually open at 5:30) and are usually seated within a couple of minutes. As far as the specialty restaurants we can usually find someone to help get us a reservation.Thank you so much for watching Carol. We really appreciate it.
Joyce, could you provide some insight about Royal Caribbean? We've never sailed with them before and are scheduled for a trip in Sept. Would appreciate any info you have!! Thanks😊
Royal has some great ships. We are diamond plus with them and have been on about 50 Royal cruise. That being said after trying Celebrity we never went back. Not that there is anything wrong with Royal, just that it's great for when the kids were younger. It more geared to families. Another reason why we prefer Celebrity is because they have non smoking casinos. I'm sure you will have a great time. Also if you can get a good deal on the specialty restaurant packages you might want to consider that.
Thanks Joyce, going on Appex next month and i was a little confused on the set up of the restaurants etc. This sounds pretty good, so happy now😊 thanks again
Glad it was helpful! We love the 4 main dinning rooms. We eat in them even if we have access to Blu or Luminae. Also we love the Apex. They have the friendliest crew. Thanks for watching.
Thanks Joyce, great review of the 4 MDR restaurants on EDGE class. We just disembarked from Beyond yesterday and overall were quite happy with the 4 MDRs. My wife's response was, they were good, but not as good as Blu 😀 We gravitated to Tuscan more than any of the others, dining there 3 times and were able to get the same table, the same waitstaff each time, which was really nice. First night in Normandy was a bit of a dissapointment, but after all, it was the first night and things improved after that. We had no reservations (except for specialty dining) and never waited more than 5 minutes. That said, we tended to eat on the later side around 7:30 to 8:30, so things had cleared out considerably by then. If you're dining earlier, especially 6 to 6:30 when it seems to be the most crowded, I think reservations (or patience) are going to be helpful. Great review, thanks! Oh, and Captain Kate said to say hi back!
We agree Blu is better. The service is better and you can still get food from s as you know from the 4MDRs. Also thanks for saying hi to Captain Kate. We will be seeing her again on her first cruise back from her vacation in July..
I love your video about dinning rooms and the app. I will go on celebrity edge in august and your video help us very much. Did you have any video about basic drink package? Can we drink good wines and coktails whith that one? Thank you so much and keep going travel!
We will be on that cruise in the beginning of September. As far as drink packages we have been thinking of doing a video on that, just didn’t get to it yet. You can get decent wines and drinks with the basic package but if you want premium drinks and wines you either pay for an upgrade per drink(which we recommend) or pay for an upgrade for the package. Thank you so much for watching. We really appreciate it!
Was on Celebrity Edge at the beginning of July. The upgrade to the premium beverage package is a must if you want "good" wines and spirits. Keep in mind that the premium package also includes your coffee beverages, soft drinks, water, sparkling water etc.
Specifically hunted a how-to for these ships’ MDRs. We like getting to know our service team so we might pick the same restaurant with reservations. BUT I didn’t see a ton of tables for 2 in the video! Would this require a trip the to the Maitre d’ to lock something into place?
We have never had a problem getting a table for 2 and we show up without reservations, but I would recommend you seeing the maitre d’ at the beginning of the cruise, they are usually very helpful..
This was very helpful, Thank you. I am booked on Beyond back to back in Sept and I will be a single traveler. I am experiencing issues booking specialty and some of the main dining restaurants on line. I am and Elite Plus, BlueChip player on Celebrity and this will be my first edge class cruise. Can you advise me on my next step to securing my dining reservation? Thank you in advance for your help. All the Best Rodney
Usually you can't book main dinning room online. We have never had a problem being seated in the main dinning room on any of the Edge class ships. We might have to wait on line for a few minutes occasionally and we don't go on peak times. Specialty restaurants usually stop booking online sometime before the cruise or say no reservations available. I would go to the Loyalty Concierge as soon as you can when you get onboard and see what they can do for you. They are usually very helpful in getting reservations. You can also see the Maitre"d at one of the restaurants the first day and see what they can do. You will love the Beyond. It's one of our favorite ships. Thanks for watching!!
If I have early dining already assigned, do I have the option to book that at a specific restaurant ahead of time? Right now in the app there is no "reserve" button on the page...is that "reserve" button only for any time dining people? thanks.
You aren’t able to book the main dinning room online. Just see the Hostess on the first day and they are usually pretty accommodating. Thanks for watching
The menu at Blu is much more than "clean cuisine" Celebrity has done themselves a disservice by highlighting "clean cuisine" in Blu. It is a very tiny part of the menu. They change the evening menu daily and have many decadent, indulgent, and very rich dishes.
I have read that you can order any item from any of the four dining room menus regardless of where you are located. Is this not true? Or is that frowned upon?

These dinning rooms almost feels like you are eating in specialty restaurants. Thanks again for watching!!
Hello from Angelia Blu, APEX
Hellooo Angelia. Apex. We love that ship.
Great video!
Good job explaining the menus! 😊
Thanks so much! 😊

@TheTravelingGamblers thanks so much Joyce! We haven't been on either line, just Princess Cruises. Excited to see how it is and will let you know!!
