Considering how spotty emulation still is to this day, the Saturn is an example of a console that NEEDS a mini
Emulation is incredible. More often than not it plays the games better than on the original hardware. I do agree though, Sega Saturn emulation leave something to be desired.
There are many great non-official emulators that run games near perfect to original hardware. RetroArch is one of the best multi emulator solutions for most older systems.
@@i_used_adblock_to_watch_this I was talking about the Saturn specifically when it comes to emulation. In general, I agree it's pretty awesome!
Yes we definitely need a Saturn Mini! 🍻
A Dreamcast mini is definitely the one I would want to see next. I had a system back then, but didn't spend too long with it before all of the systems came out with big libraries, so in a weird way the Dreamcast is the system I have the most nostalgia for. I have (to the best of my knowledge) never been in the same room as a Sega Saturn, but if they released one with a good snap shot offering of games for a decent price, I'd be on board for that one too, just to get a good history lesson on that system.
Fully agree! Dreamcast is one of my all time favorites so that would be amazing! 🍻
I agree, a next wave of mini consoles N64, Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, not sure how you would get a ps2 mini, but yeah it would be nuts!
strongly disagree. most of the games have been ported to HD remakes years ago. just boot up your PS4, PS5, or Xbox series S, and play Shenmue 1 and 2 on your modern console. then you have the problem of copyright. Crazy Taxi exists on Xbox One backwards compatibility because it is a hacked version that changes the soundtrack, removing and replacing copyrighted music tracks. many dreamcast games would need to be modified to comply with copyright, and it's just not feasable. What Sega should do, is release a Mini Sega Master System, the 8 bit console that came out before the Genesis. then, maybe a full sized GameGear classic. then, who knows. a Sega Saturn Mini.
If they do make one hopefully Marvel Vs Capcom 2 is on it
Rather than a mini console I’d love to see them do what Atari are doing
Genesis mini 2 is definitely more for the hardcore Sega crowd as opposed to a general audience, but the Sega cd games being added made it a must buy for me. I personally like the TG16 mini the best because it gives the best representation of a console overall, especially since you can play most of the NES / SNES / Genesis mini games elsewhere
Totally agree re. the mini 2, its a great way to experience a bunch of more obscure games.
Def Genesis Mini 2 much higher on my own personal ranking, too
Very true! Its versatility is amazing! 🍻
The only thing I wish about the TG16 mini (or in my case, the Core Grafx Mini) is that someone would be able to hack it. I have been talking a lot with Restalgia who has covered hacking all the other mini consoles and he said that plans for a hack are still in the works, but we haven't heard anything in a long time. I want to put more TurboGrafx CD/PCE Super CD games on mine.
i like how serious & analytical homie on the left is
then straight-forward & realistic bro on the right is
Another Day With The Guys
🍻
Hoping they come with that N64 mini and the Dreamcast Mini.
@@marcusearvin740 guess what? Sega are planning to make either Sega Saturn mini or Sega Dreamcast mini, but they hadn't decided yet.
I own the mini Genesis 1, 2, NES, SNES, & TG-16. They all have their own unique flavors. By the way, I was a big fan of the original Unsolved Mysteries hosted by Robert Stack.
Unsolved Mysteries is an underrated show! 🍻
My ring tone is the intro to unsolved mysteries 🎉 I loved that show
I had an older cousin that owned a TG16 console back in the late 80's. Same guy taught me how to play D&D when I was a kid. He was definitely a "gamer" before that was even a thing, lol.
Love the ranking videos y’all. Always on board with them! Keep it up! 😎
Thanks man! 🍻
Love the tg16 mini one of my favorites. Great video guys. Was great meeting you at mo game con was the girl with the pink hair who asked where your better half was :). Keep up the good work
Great meeting you as well. Hope you had a great time at the con. Cheers 🍻
Cool!
What games are you playing on the tg mini?
Buying these things is really addictive, especially when you consider the mini arcade machines, the gamegear minis, the C64 Max, etc. There's just so many that I get FOMO if I don't have (right now its the Amiga mini, which is the only one I don't have. I'm waiting for it to go below$100)
Yeah they are! So convenient for alot uses! 🍻
Get the Mod1up control deck and you can pair it with nearly any of those consoles to play as an arcade unit on an Arcade1up cabinet! I took an Atari 12 in 1 cab I had and converted it mostly to pair with my Astro City mini and have a Virtua Fighter machine in my home arcade.
I was so excited for the ps1 classic. Being able to play mgs1 and FF7 on the mini console with the OG controller seemed so awesome. But the games ran horribly. I took it back.
Ps1 Mini was the biggest heartbreaker. Sony clearly couldn't give 2 craps about it.
Yeah, it was a depressing release at any price.
Understandable! They made it pretty poorly! 🍻
You should buy a PlayStation mini and then buy those True Blue usb thumb drives that have like 100 PS1 games on them (just plug and play)…I did and love it…having fun playing games like Einhander, Dino crisis 1 & 2, Breath of Fire 3 & 4, Final Fantasy Origins, 7, 8, 9, Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver and many more classics!!!
By the way, I love the chemistry between you two. Great stuff. It's like looking at two friends being genuinely enthusiastic about niche stuff, very authentic. Nice flow to the presentation as well. Kudos to you and yes, ofcourse I subscribed.
Hell ya! We really appreciate your feedback and are glad you found us. We've been at it for quite a while so there should be plenty of vids for you. Try hitting a live stream on Sunday nights if you happen to be free. Lots of cool folks in the community. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid will do! Also, the algorithm brought me here so you must be doing something right. Kindred souls, I guess? Right, I'm off to watch some more of your content.
I picked up the PS1 mini for $10 on clearance at Best Buy and like you said hacked its awesome! I actually owned everyone of the original systems and I agree with your pic of the TG16 being my favorite mini as well even though it is very large for a mini console.
How easy are the iso's to add to system? 😬
I had a chance to pick one up at MAGFest a few years ago as someone was selling them for $40 (this was shortly after launch) but I passed on it. One of my biggest regrets.
It is good size for a mini! We like the size of it to ne honest! 🍻
Another great video guys, I only have the Snes Mini but may try and get some of the others now 🙌
Thanks man! Hope you can snag a few! 🍻
A bit curious about what people like with the Snes mini! Donkey Kong Country is what I’m mostly interested in when it comes to the mini.
Care to give me a ranking of the games on the Snes mini?
This is my first time watching one of your videos and im already subscribed!
Thanks! Appreciate the sub and support! 🍻
I actually bought a TurboExpress back in 1991 with some money that my grandmother gave me. I still have it to this day in beautiful condition, although it needs to be recapped. They used very cheap capacitors back then.
Nice! Yeah they did! 🍻
They were expecting the consumer to use it for 3 - 5 years before moving it on to something else and designed it as such. Its pretty amazing that these things can still work 30+ years later.
Love the video guys! Shame you’re missing the C64, A500 and Atari minis. ❤
Yeah we need to snag them! 🍻
I appreciate every video you guys put out!
Thanks man! Much appreciated! 🍻
Love the videos guys, one of the most consistent video game channels out there!
Thanks man! 🍻
been waiting for a review like this...thanks
Thanks! 🍻
Great vid guys thank you :-)
Thanks! 🍻
1st time viewer, you guys rock! Cool content, and your order of the minis is right on.
Hell ya! Glad you found us and are enjoying the vids. Cheers!
I think a Gameboy mini would do so well. Especially if it had Pokemon and trading capabilities.
Or if you could somehow connect it to the SNES classic and play on your tv like the Super GameBoy
Yes that woule sell like hotcakes! 🍻
Yes I agree 💯. But what would be done about the screen? Proper old style, a modern LCD, or maybe even a e-ink display so that the battery lasts a thousand years before charge?
@@skycloud4802 probably a very similar if not the very same screen used for the game and watch's they've done for Mario and Zelda.
And don’t forget the Retro-Bit “Generations” and “Super Retrocade”!
When I was a kid on video had a rental machine no one owned a turbo grafix and that was in Missouri
Good stuff man looking for the next one game on 😊😊😊😊
Thanks! 🍻
I don’t own any of the mini consoles but would love to eventually get a couple. I’d be all over a Dreamcast mini as I once owned a Dreamcast but sold it, and there are tons of games that were so much fun to play. As always, great video!
Same here, the Dreamcast was awesome
Dreamcast Mini would be awesome! Hope you snag some other minis! You will enjoy! 🍻
Good luck finding the TG16 Mini for a decent price.
Another great video! I think a hand-held ranking video would be great, too 😁 Also, my vote would be a gamecube mini. I loved that console. Still play GC on my OG Wii.
Gamecube mini woule be pretty awesome! We might do that list sometime! 🍻
Nice choices guys! I'd love to see a Saturn mini. The only mini consoles I'm missing are the TG16 and the Amiga mini.
A Saturn mini would be absolutely awesome! 🍻
The best things about these mini consoles is the fact they are hackable and you can load them with more games. And of course they are mini replicas of the original consoles which is very nostalgic and makes the product feel more "official" unlike some of the crappy 3rd party clone consoles out there. And the other big thing for me is they include original controller models which is huge when trying to replicate the original experience. I haven't tried all of them but I have the SNES and NES Classics and the first Sega Genesis model. All 3 are great but my favorite is the SNES classic. Comes with the best library and it's my favorite system out of all these mini consoles.
SNES mini is a hammer for sure! Yeah there hackability is very nice! 🍻
I have ‘em all either new or CIB. Great video as usual, guys.
Thats awesome! 🍻
Great video. I wasn’t playing video games when the minis came out, so I completely missed the wave. I only found out about them when California lockdowns started. I’ve bought and sold a few minis, but I don’t have any in the collection at the moment. I really want the TurboGrafx-16 mini. Recently I bought an immaculate TurboGrafx, turbo-tap, and a bunch of games all CIB for stupid cheap ($100) that being said, when do you see Turbografx games out and about!? The turbo mini looks rad. ✌️
Yeah it does! Nice snag! 🍻
Awesome review 🤌
Thanks! 🍻
..this review is incredibly fun to watch w/ these 2 personalities
Glad you enjoyed. Appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Great video guys! I really need to track down one of those TG16 minis. That thing looks sweet. The next Mini I would love to see is a Sega Master System mini. This should be easy for sega to make and places like Europe and South America would buy the heck out of this. I think with how Retro is now, it would do well here and the asian markets as well. Hoping to see one someday.
A sega Master System Mini would be amazing! 🍻
The Turbo 16 mini was Amazon exclusive right when the pandemic started and only had 2 waves, so you're going to have to pay double or triple it's MSRP sadly to get one now.
@@MSUHitman Very true. :/
i know we aren't talking mods..if the TG16 gets a mod for
ALL of the heat that's missing from the game list..
yep..its up there @ Tier 2 or 1 all-day..but not now
Would love to see you guys rank your favorite controllers throughout gaming history. I've been on a controller collecting spree lately and I enjoy hearing what other people's favorites are and why.
Good idea! We might have to do it in the future! 🍻
I find that good OEM controllers are getting hard to find, so I also have been somewhat collecting them.
Would love to see a N64 classic someday. Would be great value if they included 20 or so bigger titles. Though they would have to get some Rare games on there. Which is more of a possibility now that Banjo-Kazooie and Goldeneye released on Switch Online. Sadly I don't think it will happen as the craze on these consoles has died down.
N64 is worst of the bunch really!
I agree, maybe eventually we'll get it it would sell if they did make one.
*@joyasmusicales603* Nah that goes to PS1 mini lol being the worst. The N64 definitely isn't the worst of the bunch and would kick @ss!
Retro Games Ltd are very much still in the Mini console market. OK they were micro-computers back in their day, but they brought us the C64 Mini and the Amiga Mini - the latter is my personal favourite.
The good news is, they confirmed they will be releasing more Mini consoles and peripherals.
I also understand Sega are definitely looking into a Saturn and Dreamcast Mini. If both or either of these systems come out I would be over the moon.
@@jamesbarker5535 Sounds awesome, I'd definitely get the Saturn mini. I have a DC already so that would depend on the games on it but I never had a Saturn, always played it at my friend's place.
@@MKF30 I actually still have my Sega Saturn and used to have a Dreamcast - really wish I didn't sell it! Would love a Mini of both these machines though. Their games libraries are immense and underestimated.
Capcom would be critical to both platforms as they released some amazing games. Sega themselves have an amazing library on both machines. There are so many unknown or underappreciated gems.
The games are now or have already become so expensive they are practically inaccessible to many - particularly the Saturn. That's why a Mini for both is at the very top of my wish list.
Great stuff guys, full transparency the only one I currently own anymore is the PS1 mini 😂. Sort of regretting selling the TG16 mini, oh well
Understandable! It must of not done it for you! We get it! 🍻
Really like that you release what you want, even though i don't watch them all, i like the vibe here and the passion for games. Now, may i suggest small handhelds? Game & Watch vs GameGear mini... i think that's a terrible idea because the GameGear mini is unplayable lol
Hey nothing wrong with that! Everyone has there own taste in gaming! Handheld minis would be awesome! GBA and Gameboy would be our top picks in that category! We appreciate any video you watch of ours! 🍻
Excellent list. TG16 deserves top spot for Sapphire and Rondo alone!
Both are absolute hammers! 🍻
Rondo isn't a good choice. better to play Requiem Collection on PS4, for the english translated rerelease version. or PSP. there are better ways to experience the game. also heres a hot take: Dracula X on SNES isn't that bad, considering the hardware limitations.
Still got all those brand new in clear protectors. Love walking past them to get the dopamine of nostalgia.
Great display pieces for sure! 🍻
im midwest (Chicago) & I owned a TurboGrafx16..
tho' I all I could afford was TV Sports Hockey & Bonk's Adventure
my crush Teresa at school..borrowed her brothers HUcards for me
Bloody Wolf was like a top down Contra..I was amazed..still holds up
Great video guys.. wish you'd of included the best mini in it - The Amiga a500mini ❤ abd the c64 mini
We down either one yet! Hopefully in the future! 🍻
The algorithm brought me here. :-) SG Mini is probably my favorite.
Hell ya! Algorithm helping us for once. Glad you found us. Cheers 🍻
I have all of those and mostly agree with your assessment. I went with the Japanese PCE Core Grafx Mini because it's smaller, sleeker, also has the turbo switches, and 8Bitdo made Core Grafx theme wireless controllers which I also got. I was tempted to get both at the time but ultimately went with the PCE Core Grafx. Blue is also my favorite color... so the blue logos and text sealed the deal for me.
Nice! Sounds like a sweet looking console! Blue consoles do look sleek! 🍻
@@GamingOffTheGrid also, TG-16 was available in select markets as you wondered. NY/NJ had them. I actually borrowed a friend’s once and was going to buy it off him but it just wasn’t as good as the Genesis I was already in love with.
Great rankings. My absolute favorite mini console is the AtGames mini Sega Genesis model 1 that can play Genesis and Mega Drive carts. It also emulates Master System and Game Gear and has a microSd card slot so you can load the thing up with a ton of game roms. Plus, it has HDMI out and you can use any legacy Sega controller with it - it really is the complete package for any diehard Sega head!
Its an great mini console! Sega did well with both of theres! 🍻
If PS2 mini, what do you think where you get some games pre-installed and it has its own store separate from the other stores? Idk just a thought.
That would definitely be kick ass! No doubt about it. Cheers!
Loved the Turbo GrafX 16 in the early 90's. I still play Blazing Lazers, Legendary Axe, the Bonk games, etc.
They need to make a 'Mini - Gameboy Advanced Micro' so it would be keyring sized.
I swear there is a Mandela Effect with the TG16. It's funny you two talked about how you really don't remember the TG16 growing up, nor do any of your friends really remember it either. The other day I was watching a "lets read" of an old Electronic Gaming Monthly on Classic Gaming Quarterly's channel, and there were several TG16 game ads and game reviews right there with all of the Gameboy, NES, Genesis, and SNES stuff. I remember thinking it's funny how I don't remember any TG16 ads or game reviews in any Game Pro or EGM magazine I read back in the day. What's even weirder, I do remember reviews and ads from even more obscure systems like the Neo Geo, Jaguar, and 3DO. And like you guys, basically all of the people I talk to today don't really remember the TG16 being a thing either. It would make sense if no one bought it and it was an extremely rare thing. But the TG16 sold more consoles than the Sega Saturn or Sega Dreamcast, and was comparable in sales to the Sega Game Gear. All three of those systems were systems that I played and even knew some (albeit not many) people that owned one. So I'm sure there is some rational reason why I -- and many others -- lived through this era of video games and somehow wasn't aware of the TG16, but believing it's the Mandela Effect is more entertaining.
I've heard before that it wasn't evenly distributed across all regions of the US. Haven't done any research on that but it also could be that where we are in the midwest it didn't have strong distrubution. Who know. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
I'm gunna slowly buy one of these each week lol I only got the snes right now and I really like it. Thanks for bringing these back up cause I've wanted them but kinda forgot about them.
Nice man! Hope you enjoy them! 🍻
I had an original Turbo Grafx 16 - R Type, Bonks, Keith Courage - great stuff
Nice! All bangers for the system! 🍻
Neo Geo arcade stick for me. Neo Geo even offered up extra games via download for it. Thing's like having a portable bowling alley arcade on your coffee table. Can't dismiss Atari Gold for simple 70's console fun.
I grew up in east Texas during the 16 bit wars and I picked the TG-16 because 2 of my friends already had them. Then I got the Turbo Duo when it came out and I still have it today. It felt good not being as mainstream as the SNES and Genesis. I never got the mini but I did preorder the Analogue Duo.
Thats awesome you owned it! Sometimes going outside the box is a great way to go! 🍻
The TG 16 mini is actually more expensive than the original console on eBay now! Crazy. I grew up in Wisconsin and never heard of Turbo Grafx til I was an adult. Now you guys really made me want one...thanks a lot, lol! Cool vid though as always. That was pretty great when there was that hype for a NES again when it came out. I love to see any interest in the awesome old consoles.
Yeah sucks such an expensive console now the mini is the same! Robbing people the chance to experience it! 🍻
@@GamingOffTheGrid agreed!
One thing to note on the Turbo 16 mini, it didn't come with a AC adapter, just the USB cable. There is an issue if you don't use an AC adapter rated properly for the power output (generally most generic ones are too low) you can fry the unit.
The official AC adapter was sold separately and is now pretty impossible to find. My powerstrip has 2 USB ports in it so I just plug it in that way and my unit has been fine; just something to watch out for since people are going to have to spend $200-$300 to find one of those in the wild now.
Yeah that is the biggest downfall of the system! 🍻
Doesn’t connecting the Usb to the tv work? That’s the best solution I found for the genesis mini. Kinda like the idea of not needed to connect it to the wall. Playing on a computer screen now and connected it to my laptop for power. Not as smooth, but works until I get a tv of my own.
Is the tg16 mini more sensitive to power sources?
Absolutely loved that Nintendo left a backdoor open for their mini systems to be „hakchied“.
Really like to play the old MegaMans and puzzle games with the authentic controller feel. Before the NES Mini, my emulation setup pretty much sucked in this regard. So i love especially Big N‘s mini consoles...
Amiga 500 Mini is nice, too, and i finally got to play some classic point & click titles like Indiana Jones.
In terms of the first 3D consoles, guess i‘ll stick to emulation on a smaller handheld screen. But i‘d still buy an N64 Mini for a better HD scaling and the original controller feeling… and i think i saw a video the other day where someone build a Gamecube Mini?!?
Great episode as always. Keep it going guys. 🆙
64 and Gamecube minis would be awesome! Glad you enjoyed! 🍻
Astro City mini is great also! I personally would like an OG xbox mini somewhere down the line, but dont see it happening. DC/Saturn mini would be sick also.
Haven’t played the Astro City but it’s on our radar. Thanks for watching. Cheers 🍻
I haven't done much research but I picked up a genesis mini that came with 80 games, including master system and game gear games, it also has the ability to play real genesis cartridges, but I never see it mentioned on videos about mini consoles? Anybody know why? Thanks for any information.
Actually didnt know that! Surprised no one else mentioned it to us before you! 🍻
@@GamingOffTheGrid got it at GameStop in 2018 for like 60$ because they were out of the super Nintendo mini of course and the guy said try this one.
Nice! Good a good snag in the end!
I’d definitely love to see an N64 and Dreamcast mini. I haven’t played many of the games on these consoles and really don’t feel like buying them and purchasing the games so a mini version of these consoles would be right up my alley.
Both would be great. It will be interesting to see if any more come out
Huge draw back on the TG16 is they didn’t include a usb power block, and if you used the wrong one…it would brick your console. Happened to mine, broke it using an iPhone usb block.
Dang actually didnt know that! That is a downfall! 🍻
My list is pretty much the exact same as yours. Sorry I didn't get to visit at MO Game Con as much as I would have liked, did get to talk FF 16 with you. Hopefully see you next year.
Hope to see you next year also! 🍻
Great show guys.
Do you think we'll see a Mini Saturn or Dreamcast from Sega?
Hell whatabout a mini Atari St or mini Vectrex?
I think most of these companies are sitting on an absolute gold mine of money as the demand is definitely still strong for this mini market.
It's really hard to say but SEGA definitely needs to start doing something with the Saturn and Dreamcast library. We'd love to see it.
Great list overall. Even though I'm a Sega guy and was a Sega kid back then so the Sega Genesis minis would definitely rank higher on my list. I think I would also put the Mini 2 over the Mini 1 as well. Even though Mini 1 has some more of the iconic Genesis games on it, most of those ganes have been available for a while now. Mini 2 would get the edge for me not only for the 6 button controller but for having Final Fight CD and especially Crusader of Centy and Shining Force CD on it. That's just my thoughts and opinions, but I do like your guys' list.
1. Sega Genesis Mini 2
2. Sega Genesis Mini
3..Super Nintendo Mini
4. Turbo Graphix Mini
5. Nes Mini
6. Playstation Mini
Everyone's preference and experiences will make there list different! Like the list! 🍻
I'm going to echo this, A lot of the Genesis mini 1 games, have seen life in the numerous Genesis collections released on many platforms since.
The Mini 2 manage an even bigger number of titles, it included Sega CD games, and it also included some games just for it: Space Harrier is on there with some pretty wicked scaling, and Fantasy Zone was remade for it (originally a Master System title).
The power switch on the Genesis 2 was heartbreaking for someone who grew up with a North America model 2
Yeah we were shocked it was that way also! 🍻
Responding to your statement about beating Legend of Zelda right away, I beat Starfox on SNES and unlocked Starfox 2 straight away on my friends mini just to play it. Need to get back to it as I only made it 3 levels in. The nostalgic feeling of an unreleased game was insane! Cheers boys.
How could u be nostalgic for a game u never played? Is that possible?
@@michaelmeyer4682 Because it plays as if there are more levels in the original Starfox on SNES. It's like finding out about deleted scenes in your favorite movie and watching them for the first time. (such as The Goonies and the crazy ass octopus!)
Yeah that was pretty amazing! Loved they did that! 🍻
I shoulda got in on the TG-16 Mini, but I knew it would just be setting in the box unused. I have a PC Engine with almost 80 games, so I passed. BTW, there are controller adapters that allow you to use those 8bitdo Turbo controllers on original hardware, if you're interested.
Not sure if the Mini phase will continue, as the hardware would get quite expensive moving up in generations. They might even have to use an FPGA core, which would take quite a bit R&D.
PC Engine mini sounds awesome we might grab one someday! 🍻
Another great video . I was so stoked when I got my nes classic at a yard sale for 20 bucks , so many knockoffs but mines the legitimate Nintendo one , due to space I’d rather physically collect for the super but glad I have the nes to plug in every now and then
Nice snag at a great price! 🍻
LOVE my SNES Mini, its the perfect size to "take to grandma's house" for family gatherings. You guys are right on about it being the perfect snapshot of the SNES. Its been a great console to share my generation of gaming with those who are younger and never got to experience the best 2D gaming era. Its always brings a smile to my face when they admit "retro" gaming can be fun.
I agree. The only top tier heavy hitter that was left off the game list was Chrono Trigger.
Well said! Love the quote! 🍻
Great idea for a video guys, loved it! SNES and NES would be my top two.
Both are hammers! 🍻
Good friend of mine had the TG16 as a kid, ys was a great game for me. Later Splatterhouse came into our group and was awesome!!
We love us some Splatterhouse! 🍻
Let's keep it real. Splatter house is cool, but the gameplay is trash. Lol
I’d love to see a Saturn mini mostly because I never owned a Saturn or even had much experience with it. The only time I remember touching a Saturn controller was playing Sonic R at a Toys R Us kiosk.
We'd be all for it for sure. We love the Saturn but it's so damn expensive to collect for. Looking into a modded one. Cheers!
I want a Sega Master System mini. Also, I have all of the minis you reviewed except for the Genesis 2. I pretty much agree with your reviews. I say take off the weird Kirby golf game and add Chrono Trigger and Lufia 2 and the SNES Mini would be #1 for me. My favorite as it stands is the Turbo Mini. I also own the Neo Geo Mini. Neat console with an awesome library of games of its own. Cheap and easy to get. Highly recommended.
Yeqh we need to find a neo geo mini for sure! A sega Master system mini would be 🔥! 🍻
I second the Sega Master System Mini. But what variant to choose? I think the Master System 2 model was more popular in Europe than the first model, and more people would probably have nostalgia for that one (unless Sega do swappable shells). Then there's the Sega Master System 3.
I remember my older bro getting a turbo grafx when I was in elementary school. Two things that really stuck out were the cartridges. Very thin very cool and the controller was weird setup.
Nice! Be so cool to grow up with one with how rare it was! 🍻
Glad you put the TG16 mini in the #1 slot. I remember hearing about it before it came out and preordered it via amazon. The only negative is that 1/2 the games are not in English, and not having an English snatcher on it was a missed opportunity. You are dead on about the wireless 8bitdo controller. The SG 8bitdo controllers are also top shelf, and work with both Genesis mini’s and the Astro City mini V
Yeah that does suck but they are fun enough to work around it! 🍻
Would love to hear your thoughts on the Commodore 64 mini
Havent got a chance to play it! All the ones on this list are the ones we played thus far! Hope to snag it someday! 🍻
The first wave of the NES Classic came out and I had the day off from work for Veterans’ Day so I camped out of a gamestop to get mine.
Nice! That first wave was tough to get one! 🍻
I was so lucky to get the TG16 Mini when it first came out. Even as a hardcore Super Nintendo fan, I would give the edge to the TG16 Mini because of how much ground they covered with it!
Glad you got it! Such an amazing mini console! 🍻
Agree with all of this. Including the TG-16 squeaking past the SNES. Both of them, brilliant.
Just came across this video, first of all, love it! But I've been really confused on the Sega minis, I have the genesis one that came with all the games you see on the mega drive, but my mega drive has all of the ones on your genesis games on it. They both work great! Not the first video I've watched that had this. Anyone else had this same experience. I will say that my mega drive one I've had to order from Japan, it has all the games from the genesis one you guys have showed. Maybe different versions?
Yeah might be region based would be our guess! 🍻
Maybe you can get the Sega Astro City mini and the Taito Egret 2 mini. Those are interesting also. And the Neo Geo mini, of course.
Yeah we need to get into all three of those! 🍻
My neighbor got his TG16 from a family member in Oregon. I bought it from him. Loved that thing. I’m in Iowa, yeah never saw a tg16 in a store. Good thing he had 7 games for it.
Nice man! That ended up being a nice snag! 🍻
i agree with your rnkings except 3rd and 4th i would flip. i had the tg-16 and did not have any nintendo systems. i then got the genesis and all the attachments. to this day the only nintendo console i own was the switch. tg-16 with the cd attachment and the turboduo are my favorite consoles of all time. good video.
Thanks! Yeah our whole list is tight could easily flip some of them! 🍻
I remember seeing Turbo Grafx stuff at Electronics Boutique back when.
Nice man! That thing was not seen in my area way back when! 🍻
Of the mini consoles I’ve played (PS1, NES, SNES, Genesis) I’m going with SNES as the best overall pick. As someone who didn’t grow up with the TurboGrfx, I’m dying to get my hands on one. That $300 avg price tag is brutal but obviously more cost efficient than collecting on original hardware. Either way, mini consoles rock and if nothing else, fantastic displays for the game room!
Agreed and go travel systems! 🍻
Oooo more learning 😊
Glad to help! 🍻
I’ve been dying for Nintendo to continue making these mini consoles. Hopefully they eventually will. I keep imagining holding a little purple Gamecube mini.. so cool
Dude they really need to see it all the way through. N64 & Game Cube. Get it done Nintendo
Great video guys. Robert is correct, the best one will be determined by personal experience; all of these mini consoles are great, even the PS1 has some good qualities that I appreciate. Not sure if it counts but there was a Colecovision mini by AT Games, released in 2015. Me I would love to see a second TG16, they have enough games for one. Salute, cheers guys.
Yes a second TG-16 would be amazing! 🍻
I had a turbo grapx..i loved bonk and air zonk
Both classics for the turbo! 🍻
Oh man, I love my SNES and NES mini. Great little consoles. I want to soft mod my SNES mini into a Nintendo PlayStation at some point. Also, part of me is still regretting not getting the Amiga, Spectrum and Turbo Grafix mini consoles but genuinely there's too much to play and not enough time. Great vid as always, guys!
Next mini console should be a GBA/Gameboy.
Thanks! Those both would be awesome mini consoles! 🍻
Saturn! Great Stuff, as always!
Yes we need a Saturn Mini! 🍻
We had TG-16 in Texas but I only knew 2 kids who owned them. Got my mini from Amazon Japan then later on got a PC Engine Mini which has the same lineup. FYI, they have Famicom/Super Famicom/Mega Drive minis last I checked. Currently own NES, SNES, Genesis1, 2xPS1, and Neo Geo Intl./Japan minis. Would like to see a Saturn mini next.
Yeah Saturn Mini would be amazing! 🍻
I remember when the PlayStation classic was on clearance at stores, wish I would have picked one up
Yeah they dogged until then! The clearance price was worth it! 🍻
All I want now is a mini PS2 with tiny Rock Band peripherals.
We will be buying that as soon as possible if it comes out! 🍻
SNES mini #1
PS mini #2
The rest I never got or found locally so can't say much there.
Mini systems I would love to get with my 1 game recommendation are N64 with Doom 64, GameCube with MGS The Twin Snakes and Sega Saturn with Alien Trilogy.
This was a really cool video, Thanks Guys you're awesome 👍😎👍
Thanks man! Those would all be great mini consoles! 🍻
Great video. I came up with my own lists for what should be on 5th 6th and 7th generation mini consoles over the weekend for fun. I send them to you or post the lists in the comments if you want. Could be a starting point for video ideas. Also I included a ps1 list since that mini console deserves a shot at redemption
Yeah PS1 mini had so much potential! Be nice if they came out with a better one! 🍻
@@GamingOffTheGrid Here is my Playstation Mini concept. I made a few rules for myself to make my list somewhat more realistic. 1. Only US releases are included. 2. Crash and Spyro aren't eligible due to being own by Microsoft after the Activision buyout. 3. Licensed music will be ignored since its the Kryptonite of mini consoles.
There will be 25 games plus a bonus games which the rules don't apply too. The goal is to feature a diversity of genres and a mix of classics and hidden gems. First party titles will be emphasized which makes a PS1 mini harder to make since its biggest successes were third party games
1. Twisted Metal 2
2. Ridge Racer Type 4
3. Final Fantasy VII
4. Metal Gear Solid
5. Syphon Filter
6. Intelligent Qube
7. Tomba
8. Tekken 3
9. Wild Arms 2
10. Colony Wars
11. Omega Boost
12. Gran Turismo 2
13. Jumping Flash 2
14. Ape Escape
15. Tomb Raider
16. Silent Hill
17. Legend of Dragoon
18. Wipeout 3
19. Soul Blade
20. Castlevania Symphony of the Night
21. Medal of Honor
22. Parappa the Rapper
23. Oddworld Abes Odyssey
24. Einhander
25. Medievil 2
26. Bonus: LSD Dream Emulator
I also have the neo geo mini. If you like your old 2d fighters I'd highly recommend picking it up.
Yeah we need to snag that and a few others! 🍻
I didn't have any mini consoles until the past 2ish months. I actually found a NES Classic at Value Village two months ago for $30 Canadian, and picked up a SNES Classic a couple weeks ago from a 2nd hand store for $100 without packaging (which I don't care about since I plan to use these).
Nice man! Hope you are enjoying them! 🍻
Cool discussion. As someone who owns them all, I agree with most of it. Only difference was I grew up with Genesis, but most of my friends had SNES. Everyone had the NES before that. I actually had 1 friend who had a TG16, so being able to experience it again is awesome. Especially since he only had Bonk.
Yeah nostalgia is always big when it comes to determining favorites! Really cant go wrong with any of them! 🍻
