Very nice and great instructions, the finish is beautiful. I will probably do something like this but taller and also I have a 2.1 sub woofer that is pretty large with exposed speaker on the bottom. using your style looks about what I need to space the speakers between two computers same cases, the sub can sit in the center and the side speakers on each side or end of the two computers. This little 2/1 system uses one jack so simple to swap between each computer. If you ever run out of space you can use a blank closet door as I have used now for over 15 years as a desk. I did not make any special legs but simple saw horses and the door and horses can support a lot of weight. At this moment I have 4 computers two monitors and one 5.1 sound system plus the newest addition the powered 2/1 sound system. I ran out of room for the moment but plan on doing some adjusting once I move it all to another room. My most recent upgrade was adding all blue tooth keyboards and mice. Cheap stuff but the keyboards are 10 dollars at family dollar store and I bought the mice on amazon for less than 6 bucks per mouse.
The finished product looks really good. I have some vintage (bigger) speakers so I might just make the same stands for them. I would need to give the two inside standing pieces a 10 degree cut as I would like the back of the speakers to tilt slightly low to fire the speaker upwards.
Just made these the other for day my surrounds in my lounge room! Made them 900mm high though and they now sit perfectly at ear level behind the couch! Thanks heaps for the template made it so easy!
FANTASTIC job! Thanx so much for sharing your expertise, especially the template! I plan on cranking out a pair of these for my Polk Audio bookshelf speakers in the near future! U ROCK!
I'm watching all of your videos now!! there are lots of good ideas to borrow (read steal) like the paper template, I've never tought of that... I always took measurements and draw with a pencil directly on the pieces of wood
Originally I was going to take measurements and draw with a pencil but I realized that it would be really hard to keep everything lined up with the sides angled like I wanted and then it dawned on me to make a paper template. It worked out well and I'll probably end up using them on future projects when appropriate.
I've been looking for stands that are about 18" high to get my speakers to sit right above my 3-monitor setup. Nobody in the entire world makes these, apparently. I'd have to modify the build by angling the top platform maybe 10 deg. Time to pick up a miter box. Thanks for the video! Gave me some ideas.
For anybody planning on replicating these like I did, look in to these: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OO30CDE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I needed about a 10deg angle on my speaker mounts but I didn't want to make an angled angle cut on top of the uprights so I picked up a couple of these and trimmed em down (I have 4" x 5.5" speakers). Again, thanks again for the video! Cost me about $30 in materials from the local Homeless Despot.
Simple, easy and cost effective. I've seen other videos and they take like a kabillion hours to make. Aint nobody got time for dat. Thx for sharing. I will be making this with a few modifications.
Nice! I made mine which were similar years ago. If you make these for heavier/taller speakers ensure that the bottom base is an inch or two longer/wider than the top which helps prevent tipping if they're bumped.
Nicely done, like the design too, simplistic but works very well, will be doing the same to a set of E-MU X7 speakers I recently purchased, slightly larger speakers, but I will be pinching your ideas lol, many thanks.
I couldn't find the Home Depot outdoor dept. parts (including PVC cylinders) that some other guy recommended to build some small speaker stands easily, so I went to HD in any case, and found some good unfinished 3x8" wood plinths, four of 'em, gonna stack them and use them for my tiny Alesis monitors on my desktop. I think that'll suffice, plus some mounting feet on bottom. Those speakers are so small, there was no point building a huge stand. I can always top them with some isolation foam or something as well. I have tools and a great B&D cordless drill, but no workshop. Zreviews Zeos recommends Yoga Blocks, but they seem too lightweight and movable to me.
Do you think this works for 20'' height as well or is the construction too instable? My desk space is limited so I'd like to put my speakers behind my screens and raise them to stand above them.
+Berner “DJ Berner” Salvador For this project I borrowed a chop saw but you could make the cuts with a table saw, band saw, jig saw, or even a hand saw.
+dabigguy83 Save yourself even more money. Keep your speakers on the floor and don't lose any bass or midrange frequencies. It will actually improve matters. Even better, bolt them to the wall solidly into the studs facing you.
yeah, really good job man. I have a standing desk so I may do something similar but have them angled so they face upward a bit. This also means I'll need something on the back to prevent them from sliding backward. And Lastly, I think I'll make mine a tad taller... but the risk here is that they're less stable and if somebody bumps into them they may topple. Maybe I could also screw them into the desk, or get some kind of clamp for the back of the desk. So my question is: why did you pick the design the way you did (with the angled two center pieces)?
+Jesse Hansen I went with the angled center pieces for aesthetic reasons mostly. I just like the way they look. My stands are very stable on my desk. I think my computer monitor would tip over before the speakers would. If you make them taller, you might want to make them sturdier especially on a standing desk where they could fall much farther. Screwing them down or using a clamp would work but have some draw backs. Just making the base portion a little bigger would probably be all that was needed.
+Makify1 good thinking, thanks. Will modify your template.. also will angle the speakers upwards. I'll try to remember to post here when I'm done! thanks for the idea!
+Luca Peppe It's craft foam. You can find it at most craft stores or online. I used the kind with adhesive already on one side but it doesn't always come this way.
Wow, these look great! I'd suggest still trying to get some wood glue under the screws if it helps with stability and audio quality. I plan to make these, thank you again! Also, I'd suggest lifting your PC up to eye level as well! I use books right now myself, but I'd bet it'd be fairly easy to make a 3 piece |___|
Here's an idea for a mod. Change it so that there are two or three pieces that make up each side, I'd go with the top side piece sandwiched between two bottom side pieces, drill a hole and put a bolt through with a big wing nut. That way you can angle the top part so the speakers are pointing right at you. Add a stop bar on the back of the top piece to prevent the speakers from sliding off.
I'm currently creating a large version of these. How do I create my own template??!!! I've look everywhere for programs that will allow me to make custom dimensions and rotational values that actually line up and I cant find anything. Word is even giving me trouble.
Thanks! I am thinking of adding a shelf in the middle to stack DVDs within the stand (following your 2nd design option). So the risers would be 17" with a 1/2" shelf separating the base from the speaker shelf. This way, I would have 2 rows of room for DVDs.
Nice video ! I want to make these but I just want to raise my monitors up a few to 5 inches higher just to prevent accidental spills damaging my speakers at my station.
You know what, I didn't think it was possible to DIY speaker stands that looked that awesome! Well done and thanks for sharing the build with us.
+andrewford80 Wow, thanks.
This is the first time i tried to craft something I need myself. The design is great and works perfectly for my Adam T5Vs!
The print out works great I've been using mine for a couple years now
You have done a very nice job mate. Perfectionist Achievement unlocked.
+sarihaddu :) Thanks!
I know Im kind of off topic but does anybody know a good place to stream new tv shows online?
@Colten Atlas I watch on FlixZone. You can find it by googling =)

Simple, elegant design. Well thought out and well executed.

I really like how the stain turned out. Nice stands!
Thanks! The stain turned out better than I expected.
Very nice looking stands and color choice. yeah I'll be copying those !
they look killer on the desk dude, rock on...
+rjdom Thanks man!
FANTASTIC job! Thanx so much for sharing your expertise, especially the template! I plan on cranking out a pair of these for my Polk Audio bookshelf speakers in the near future! U ROCK!
Thanks for the vid! Was thinking exactly the same thing, and the tip of using the paper to mark the holes was quite clever. Thanks!

Would be great if you had a plan for a Computer Monitor Stand to match the speaker stands?? Can we please get that? Thanks in advance.
Great job! Simple, effective design and I like the end result. I'll probably put myself in the ER trying to replicate these.
Looks beautiful! Better than all the ones you could buy!
thank you for the template on speaker stands. yours looks great
Simple, easy and cost effective. I've seen other videos and they take like a kabillion hours to make. Aint nobody got time for dat. Thx for sharing. I will be making this with a few modifications.
These look way better than anything on the market I'll be doing this for my desk speakers ASAP thanks for the how-to!
You're welcome. Good luck with your build!
Great job man, that finish looks amazing!
+Robin Lewis Thank you!

Hi, i didn’t quite get what you used for the finish, a Stain on the coluums? What type product on the base and top?
Those stands look great, congrats!
Great job. The two colors worked perfectly! You have a good eye for design.
+Fontari Thanks for the compliment! Glad you like the design.
Well Done! Very nice finishing. I wonder if there was a better way for cable management in this design.
Just built mine this morning! They are wife approved. Thanks for the video and template. ✌🏻
Very nice work. They look great! Speaker stands are so expensive. Nice to know there are easy, cheap alternatives.
It's crazy what some speaker stands cost and I think these turned out nicer than a lot of stands I've seen!
PERFECT !!!! So kind of you for providing free template - THANK BRO
Great! How about tall ones for Home Theater? Same design?
That's nice. By this time, in 2020, the left M-Audio speaker is nearly silent because of the heat flaw. Good luck.
was very impressed with your stands going to make a set for my pioneer hpm 100's
Very nice looking stands. Great work
Greetings from the future. I love your stands
Thanks for sharing, I have searched on the tube and keep coming back to your idea, they look nice and the template finally persuaded me
I'm glad you like them. Good luck with your build.
Beautiful speaker stands. Good as or better than ones I could buy online. I'll be making these
Great job man! Look so much better than off the shelf stuff.
Nicely done, like the design too, simplistic but works very well, will be doing the same to a set of E-MU X7 speakers I recently purchased, slightly larger speakers, but I will be pinching your ideas lol, many thanks.

Those stands look sooo nice
Oh I relay like it. I am looking for this. Nice stand

20" is probably too tall for the base. If you made the base bigger, it would work.
those stands look great. great job, man.
Do you think this design would upscale in size for a pair of floor standing speakers?
Thank you for the great instruction and Template. Excellent job!
how much weight will these hold ?as I will be putting a large set of speakers on them. But on the floor please ?
Great video. Simple stands. MOST of speaker stands out there for sale are too tall or too expensive.
Speaker stands are overpriced and the cheap ones are crap so i'm going to make my owns to it's only a day of work
After drilling and screwing in to end grain, how are these stands holding up? Did they split?
Great video what kind of tool did you use to cut the wood?
+Berner “DJ Berner” Salvador For this project I borrowed a chop saw but you could make the cuts with a table saw, band saw, jig saw, or even a hand saw.
+Makify1 thank you, the cuts are straight on the wood. That why I was asking
+Berner “DJ Berner” Salvador What software did you use to make the template?
This just saved me a lot of money!!! Thank you!!
Awesome!
+dabigguy83 Save yourself even more money. Keep your speakers on the floor and don't lose any bass or midrange frequencies. It will actually improve matters. Even better, bolt them to the wall solidly into the studs facing you.
dabigguy83 true
looks really good man, im working on my own speaker stands but this truely is inspirational
Hi, What a coincidence I was just looking for DIY desktop speaker stands...for the same speakers !! :D gonna try these one's out
+Frank Becks Done :) mine look great to. Made them a bit higher
Dang! You are so talented in making things. Liked and Subbed.
very good video I really liked it. I will try this this weekend. I want all speaker stands so that I can take my studio monitors off the desk.
Used your template for my stands. Fits perfect, thanks. Also is that brown varnish for the legs or wood paint ?
yeah, really good job man. I have a standing desk so I may do something similar but have them angled so they face upward a bit. This also means I'll need something on the back to prevent them from sliding backward. These look great, I’m currently putting together a freestanding pair myself. What stain did you use on the sides?
I think it was Minwax Red Mahogany (225) but there's a chance it was Red Oak (215) or Sedona Red (222).
Thanks! I put together AutoCAD plans for mine, I’ll be happy to pass them on when I’m done.
Foam to protect the desk whilst cutting the foam on the desk... funny. Love the stands, good work!
Well made! Came out nice!
Very nice. Looks great! Clean work.
Awesome stuff!! Gonna make a taller version of this! Love the colours too! Thank you for uploading this.
I was going to buy the kanto speaker stands but after watching this…nah I’ll just build these beautiful works of art
nice.. like the design!
very precise..kudos
ill will have to scale up as i have floor speaker but i think it will work
thanks
Is the template still available can't seem to download it.thanks.
Thanks for the idea, mate! Just made my own based in your design
I am thinking of making my own speaker stands, because they are too big for my desk. I was wondering what wood you used to build your stands
I used poplar from one of the big box home improvement stores.
These look very professional! Great job. Going to make a set as soon as I get some decent editing speakers.
7yrs old and this video goes hard, problem is I don’t trust my cats! Haha
Cheers man, nice work 👍🏽
Blu-tack to the rescue.
A suggestion would be to route the cables so they would be hidden, but good idea though!!!
Cool Stands! Please give a link to isolation stickers, can`t find them. Thank You!

Very good looking stands :D what's the material you used to cover the top and bottom?
+Luca Peppe It's craft foam. You can find it at most craft stores or online. I used the kind with adhesive already on one side but it doesn't always come this way.

Robert Jensen Cool idea!
This rocks. Thanks for the detailed video! Nice job too.
Thanks buddy, they look pretty good, i like them.
excellent project ! this inspired me to build a pair of stands myself :D
I'm currently creating a large version of these. How do I create my own template??!!! I've look everywhere for programs that will allow me to make custom dimensions and rotational values that actually line up and I cant find anything. Word is even giving me trouble.
Thanks for a terrific and educational video. Very cool!
Yup i like these! Going to make them for my new speakers, easy making, great result.
Thank you for sharing your idea
I'm glad you like them!
GOOD JOB DUDE!! I was looking for stand for the same size speakers. I'm making these today, Just like yours.. Thanks !!
Thanks for sharing, I needed a project for my woodshop class and I'm gonna make these
+Mason S Awesome!
Do you think the design will hold up if I make them taller?
Someone else made them a little taller and they worked.
OK. Thank you.
I love these! I need my stands to be 18 inches tall. Would this work if I used 17" risers? My base would be 9"x 9" and the top shelf would be 7"x 7".
That would probably work.
Thanks! I am thinking of adding a shelf in the middle to stack DVDs within the stand (following your 2nd design option). So the risers would be 17" with a 1/2" shelf separating the base from the speaker shelf. This way, I would have 2 rows of room for DVDs.
good work man! they look great
Amazing job, bro!
Impressed, they're really nice.
+B-Line Beats Thanks, glad you like them.
really helped solve most of my studio problems, it was cheap and easy, many thanks dude B^)
Ellectronici Glad it helped!
excellent stands, amazing work, very well made video, .... all that for m-audio that will crap out on you in 18 months
Looks like a million bucks my buddy
Where can I get the template?
Nice! Good job! Looks like you bought them on Amazon 😉
Great job! Thank you so much for sharing!
Looks awesome
Nice video ! I want to make these but I just want to raise my monitors up a few to 5 inches higher just to prevent accidental spills damaging my speakers at my station.
lol I have the exact speakers, looks like this DIY is gonna be great! Thanks for the vid!
Me too
Great video, man. I'm going to make them! Have the same speakers.
They are awesome man.
Thanks!
this is really dope man building my own thanks for the idea!
Nice I'm going to make some for my new monitors looks easy and a like a fun weekend project
