57 year old woman.. I have all the ways to bye our own birth control, but it does not always work. I was with child at 20 and had no money. My daughter was raised by a single mother and did just fine.. so the best birth control is to keep your legs close

I don’t agree with governments anywhere signing contracts with any pharmaceutical company. Especially methadone like in BC where the addicts get it free for many many years because it gets them off street drugs onto tax paid free drugs with no time limits. Now down town east side Vancouver is the epicentre of hard drugs in all of Canada ! Cause methadone is free here and easily accessible. The addicts use it as well as still buy street drugs. What a sham.

Education and prevention is where that money needs to go. As a care worker of 30 plus years I can say many many diabetics are glutenous eaters that can’t exercise or won’t . Their diet education is a joke and the food guide still shows carbs at the top of the guide. How about if doctors prescribe diet and exercise?
That’s not fair to the ones that eat right and exercise to cover someone else’s health bill and it’s only enabling the careless. Seriously. I come from a long line of overweight diabetics. Lost family to is. My ex is on dialysis for kidney failure due to it. Obesity is one of the MOST expensive cost on healthcare. From joint surgery because the knees weren’t meant or built to pack excess to the dialysis heart surgeries you name it obesity and overweight with diabetes is already surpassed the cost of healthcare over tobacco!

Women are fertile for about 30-40 years. Think about the cost.

My point is that government has no place in anything that has to do with women’s birth control. The moment we allow them any place in terms of cost, they gain some control. I went those 30+ years without counting on government to aid in costs, and continued thereafter paying for my daughter’s. At the time it cost $99 for a 3 month supply, and when I looked at the alternative to raising a child, that cost is pennies in comparison. We also have to ask the question, is it for every form of birth control? Do they choose which ones fall under their cost relief or will that be left up to the patient? While all this is happening, your claims for said relief will be viewed by people other than medical professionals. So now government will have a window into your choices of birth control. It’s all a little too invasive and no one but your medical professionals and partner should have any insight into that aspect of your life, or they might as well be right in your room for Pap smears also!

Because young Canadians make up the majority of who is unable to afford housing. It’s not a dig at older Canadians, it is just most notable in those that do not have assets to begin with. Essentially we can’t break into a market to even gain assets.

A large portion of this problem is that my generation doesn't want to have kids anymore. We can't afford to take care of ourselves. Why would we want to bring a young child into this life? I want kids, but I don't want to bring another person into this world to suffer. It's not about being lazy it's about the world being so fundamentally greedy that it's not worth it.

Birth control was already almost free! In Toronto, if you went to the civic center, it was $10 and that's after you saw a doctor with them. They just were not handing it out like candy. You had to be a responsible teen/young person and go in to have an appointment. It's not taxpayers' full responsibility.
