I have debt because I had a random health emergency. I feel I'm being completely screwed over by the hospital. I demanded an itemized billing statement from the hospital but never received one. Instead they sent my bill to collections. This all happened fast, I would say in about a 3 month time frame. I tried negotiating with the collection agency but they refused to negotiate. I asked them for an itemized billing statement, they did show me a billing statement but it was not itemized. They have since sued me and honestly I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. I understand a service was provided and this service should be paid for but it is a lot of money! I don't know any other service that is allowed to operate the way a hospital does. There was no talk of price up front, even though I did ask. Its not right that i should have to hirer a lawyer, spending a couple thousand on that and not even know if its worth it.....I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place!

I will say it is best to negotiate a large debt through a lawyer, because if it fails and you decide to not pay then you can still deny (With credibility) you owe the debt credibly and because of attorney client privilege he cannot be called on to testify against you!

I beat tha shiat out of a collection agency in court all by my self with no lawyer, they claimed I owed them $14,000 dollars. My nuclear weapon in court was very simple! quote! Your Honor! Do you have a pen handy? he answered yes! Ok, I want you to write this down, then I spelled the Law name to Him and he wrote it down! OK! Your Honor are you aware of that Law. he said yes. Ok! ME: This people (collection agencies) are in the business of buying none performing debt for pennies on the dollar, which makes it a toxic waste investment there fore they create their own wound! and Your Honor! that law that I asked you to write down clearly states that NO BODY IS ENTITLE TO COMPENSATION ON A SELF INFLICTED WOUND CORRECT? The Judge get his wood hammer bangs it on his desk and said! This case goes to the defendant! ME: Thanks you your honer! LMAO. I was nervous AF********( I was the last one in the court room and watch allot of defendants loosing their case and all of them had a lawyer representing them. We went at it back and fort between the Judge the collection agency's lawyer and me for around 2 hours. all this happened in California LA to be exact.
