I heard him play the Fantasy live...we he finished I wanted to hear it again right away...incredible violinist. The performance was all Viennese: Mozart, Brahms, Schoenberg.
I don't know the piece but hopefully to somewhat give insight into your inquiry, Kremer has long championed auditioning very modern contemporary music and musicians and I believe has held a number of festivals to bring together new artists and new music.. As to his Schubert with Afanassiev, I saw them do the Fantasy in the early 80s at Pasadena's beautiful Ambassador Auditorium it was, I recall my first concert of chamber style music, and the performance changed my entire perspective of listening to classical music, this performance remains my all-time favorite.

It is 1990 in Cologne Philharmonie, Germany. You can see at the end. Wonderful performance! I heard it live in Munich the same tour...
