      Thanks @user-gb7jk7eb8j! Do you mean that you sent me an email that I didn't respond to? If you haven't already checked it out, be sure to watch my video all about renting in Vancouver. It covers most of the basics and will give you a very solid understanding of how Vancouver's rental market works.

    Hello there, I’m considering moving to Vancouver. I’m in the very early research phase with no set time period to move. I’m planning to visit to the city, to get a feel for it. Would you recommend any specific path to take when checking out the city for me to get a feel of the neighborhoods and lifestyle of living in Vancouver?

    • @LivingInVancouver-BC
      @LivingInVancouver-BC  10 місяців тому

      @browniedbaby Coming to visit the city is a great idea...especially if you've never been here before. Where would you be moving from? And what's drawing you here? I'm not entirely certain what you mean about a specific path...but I'm guessing that you mean a physical route that I'd recommend? That would entirely depend on you and what you are prioritizing in your new home. What areas and neighborhoods seem appealing to you to this point?

      @@LivingInVancouver-BC Thanks for following up. I’m a commercial truck driver, I live in Ohio, US. I haven’t fully narrowed a specific area of interest. I’m interested in the lifestyle of living downtown but I’d prefer something that offers a similar feel of downtown but not as expensive. I’d like to be able to leave home and walk/bike to places nearby like parks or restaurants, have ease of access to public transportation, or have grocery shopping a short car drive away. I’m mostly drawn to the diversity that’s spoken of for Vancouver and the weather. I also love the idea of having access to the beach and parks.

      Sounds good! You’ll have a lot of options depending on your budget…but I’d consider new Westminster is you are looking for a less expensive but urban experience. Perhaps Coquitlam too.

    North Vancouver is beautiful, but it might be a bit too much rain. I'd rather pay less and be close to everything I need for daily life. After all, it's just a bus ride away. As you're walking through he forest, I can recall episodes of Stargate SG1

    • @LivingInVancouver-BC

      Haha...I think you might have that experience quite a bit watching videos of Vancouver and recognizing them from various TV shows and movies. It's one of my favorite games. ;)

    How many mins is North Vancouver to downtown Vancouver?

    • @LivingInVancouver-BC
      @LivingInVancouver-BC  7 місяців тому +1

      @preciousmadonna That really depends on how you are commuting. It could be as quick as a 15-minute Seabus ride from Lower Lonsdale over to Downtown Vancouver. Driving requires crossing one of the two bridges and that would take about 30 minutes on a typical day...but if there's any accidents, police incidents or events going on the traffic can really get backed up and you could be spending an extra hour (or more) in traffic.

  • @epermute
    @epermute 4 місяці тому

    Having lived in lower lonsdale, I don’t get the appeal, other than the outdoors and access to downtown (if you can tolerate the bridges) . It’s expensive, too much traffic and the rain is too much. Was very indifferent to the place.

    • @LivingInVancouver-BC
      @LivingInVancouver-BC  4 місяці тому

      I hear you @epermute! Given that you live in White Rock now, that makes sense. It's kinda like the anti-Lower Lonsdale.
      You make valid points...and I agree...but I can see the appeal for people that want to be close to the mountains and still have close proximity to downtown. But ugh, the traffic!

    • @hklinker
      @hklinker 10 днів тому

      I grew up in NV. I would never base my experience of living there on time spent in Lower Lonsdale. It’s never been a favourite area for me. I’m still there from time to time and have seen all the new apartments, restaurants and bars, etc. They’ve done a really good job of improving the area, but I still prefer other neighbourhoods.

      @@hklinker I moved there from Kits. It was def a step backwards, although we had a bigger condo. This was 2009 though. Def improved with the ship yards etc.

    • @hklinker
      @hklinker 10 днів тому

      I grew up in Kits until we moved to NV when I was eight (a LONG time ago). With an unlimited budget, I’d go back to Kits. Bear in mind I also lived 30 years in Hong Kong and have only recently returned to the North Shore (West Van). In the Vancouver area, I put Kits first, followed by the North Shore.
