- I quit cigarettes about 3 years ago thanks to e-cigs. They're the closest you can get to cigarettes in size and shape. I used to refill them with lower nicotine juices as I weened myself down in nicotine content. Unfortunately, it looks like e-cigs are going away. I chose the Vuse Alto because it was small-ish and looked easy to refill. I followed someone else's refilling instructions, but they leaked inside my pocket. It turns out the key is the gasket.

Hi Jay. Don't give up. Try different pliers. Grab as close to the top edge of the metal as you can. Most people who have trouble getting it off is because the pliers aren't grabbing right. Of all the pliers I have, one of them works well for doing this. Now, I can refill any pod within 20 seconds.
I didn’t have pliers so I used a thumb tack and tweezers. It took a bit but I was able to get it off in like 5 minutes or less.

Joyce Heishman I used the thumb tack to get the metal piece as loose as I could where the open squares are on the sides then pulled it off with tweezers at the very bottom

Awesome. You have no idea what a day it's been without smoking any of my vape. I'm so broke I couldn't afford to buy any for a couple of days. I had one full pod that for whatever reason never worked but I have held onto it. Thankfully because today was complete crap and I really could of used a cig... I was trying to get the pod apart and figure it out till it hit me to search UA-cam and your video is the first I came upon. I immediately tried it and bam I now have a full pod to last me until my money comes in. Your truly a life saver.

He’s so right about the right kind of pliers working. I switched and it took no time at all. This is a game changer!
a small flathead screw driver works better as theres almost no chance of cracking the pod. u wiggle the metal cap off by pressing the flathead to the holes on either side while still pushing on the metal pops off very easily.
Finally figured out what I was doing wrong prior to refilling: I was totally emptying out the original VUSE pod to where I was getting that burnt taste before refilling. The burnt flavor never leaves that ceramic coil thus the burnt flavor would carry over to the new juice. Now I watch the pod carefully before the last juice is vaped away to not burn that ceramic. haha, nobody told me, so I thought I would share.
I refilled mine but it won’t hit did anyone else have this problem?

Thank you for posting this video! I had a pod that would not draw so I switched out with an empty pod and it now works! Saved me a phone call to Alto! And now I know how to save $$ and re-fill! 👍👍

Just a pointer, once you put the pod back together. Suck on the pod for a second before putting it back in the mod. This ensures you won't get any juice spitting when you take your first haul

Just a heads up. I put the gasket back in separately and even tho it looks like it fit correctly it still leaked so be sure to follow the directions

THANK YOU FOR THIS. I'm not refilling, but lately the darker pods have been dying on me half way thru. And these have gotten so expensive , I had 2 pods from a 4 pack give out on me half way. That's losing a whole pod! So I did this and emptied both into a empty pod, and it's working great! Thanks again.

Great video. Had to apply a bit of force, but the covers did finally come off. Just to add my 2 cents...instead of buying premixed salts, I bought plain nicotine salt at 2.4 and 1.8%, and a bunch of flavors from Delosi labs. 240 ml of salts, 3 ml each of the flavorings to concoct my own brew. It's an amazing experiment, and enables me to lower my nicotine so I can quit. For all of you who may have burnt tastes, I don't think it's a bad idea to rinse out the pod with warm water and dry it with canned air after. I didn't have any issues, and I wanted everything clean anyway, so I could taste the differences in my custom mixes. I have a Juul, myBlu, and the Vuse Alto. Tried the others before I settled on the Vuse, but using the others for my taste test.
Thanks, Rich. Good info. There's a tobacco flavor I like, but the vape shop I use to only has it in high nicotine levels. I didn't know you could get straight nicotine. I'll have to get some and mix it with a zero nicotine tobacco juice.
Have you run into the event where you have to go buy more pods because you've reused the coils too many times? I was looking for a juice ratio in other videos, and thought that was the reason for no success yet. I think about the coils too but I haven't necessarily nailed the first step yet.

@@NZQ01 coils dead prob get 3 to 4 refills on each pod. So don't vape all the juice out your pods and save them old ones.

Big thanks to you, my guy! Had a brand new pod that immediately got a burnt taste to it after only maybe 5 hits. Found this video, and was able to swap a known good coil into it. Do have to say though, getting that SoB out of the pod is a fight and a half lol. Definitely gonna save this for when/if I ever decide that I wanna just start refilling old ones instead of buying 4 packs 👍
He has another video that shows an AMAZINGLY EASY WAY to get rid of the burnt taste by just blowing I'm the top with your finger over the hole on the bottom. No need to even do this.
use a razer blade to slip into the gap of the plastic with the coil in it.

Ty so muxh for this video. I couldn't get the base off without it messing up. I used the cartridge without the metal base!! Just put a little pressure down while hitting it.I hope this helps people that screws the bottom base up!!

I tried this. it was very hard to do because the two little things on the side have to be pushed in I think (sides of the metal clip). I finally got them out. It took me forever! I was able to replace the core on the pod that didn't work with one from an empty pod and good as new! thanks!

Great video. I smashed the metal piece a little because I used some snap ring pliers I had beside me so just be gentle with that. Super easy to fill and put back together after that.
I love the ALTO, but have had so many wasted burnt pods that I was ready to give up on it! I didn't know if it was bad juice, or mechanical. From another vid I learned it was a mechanical issue, and they could be fixed! I saw your video that showed better visually, how to disassemble the pod and refill it. Now I save empty good pods to save other bad pods. But seeing they can be refilled even makes them better! I dont know what the cost of pod vs refill is, but anything is better than wasting money on BAD PODS! Thanks a bunch!
If you have a burnt pod? Do like refilling. Take a pod that was good all the way to empty, save it. Disassemble the good one and save the bottom mechanical assembly. Then when you get a burnt pod, switch out the bad mechanical bottom for your saved good bottom. Does anyone know the cost of buying pods vs refilling with store bought juice?
Where I am, in CA, 2 pods costs $23. For the same price, you can buy a bottle with enough juice to refill a pod dozens of times. I haven't kept count or done the math, but at least 2 dozen times. You also have the benefit of choosing your flavor and nicotine level.
I'm in CA as well, 2 pods are $23. Each pod holds 1.8ml. So that's 3.6ml of juice for $23. I just bought 2 bottles of juice, 120ml for $30.

In MA it's currently (approximately) $10 for a 2 pack. I'm not a HUGE fan though, after using mods etc... these hit nowhere as well. I get the three green light blinks every single time I take a puff. But can't buy any freaking liquid because of this stupid covid19 bullshit right now. Yet I can buy these (prefilled pods) and cigarettes and booze and lottery tickets. You tell me?!

Can you define Fail? I have a fail and the symptom is no smoke, most have worked fine just wondering what caused the no smoke fail, I don't have a leak.
Mine didn't seal correctly when I refilled. You have to be gentle with the process. I squeezed the metal too hard.
I did this and will confirm it works if done correctly. Sometimes the whole "bottom end" comes out as a unit, but it's really easy to take apart and clean either way. These devices come with "nic salt" juice. I would strongly advise you to use the same. Bought the other stuff and it leaked like a sieve, burned way too fast, and was a royal pain in my ass. Nic salt juice doesn't leak, no popping or farting, little to no blow-by, and it lasts just as long as "off the shelfer pods" but a very small fraction of the price. Already have a bunch of refilled pods lined up for the week and it took me about half an hour. Should save myself about $84(CDN) /week doing it this way.

Same. You don't realize how little they put in there until you fill it yourself. 2 pods are 12 here. I buy a bottle for 12 and it lasts a month. Crazy
I think the trick to not make leak is to not refill the cartridges on the side walls so the oils don't make your seal slippery which render the seal useless after a while, try maybe using an extended straw refiller so you can refill from the bottom of the cartridge up and not from the side up seal are meant to stay dry all around

Well, you still have to buy pods, but not as often. You can refill a pod four or five times before the coils start burning out. You will know when that happens because the taste will become bitter and burned. But refilling pods is still a great idea to save money and for using different flavors. Just don't think you will never have to buy any more pods.

Can you use any e-liquid juice for the refill or does it have to be salt nicotine refills? I have e-liquid juice for an old vape pen I use to have and I was wondering if that would work in the vuse. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I’m new to these things lmao.

OK: First, make certain to not run the factory pod down to the "burnt" taste. Second, make certain the heating element works before taking apart. Third, make certain if the chrome metal comes off with the heating element insert, it is not deformed, as that will cause the chrome piece to slice the plastic juice holder. Fourth, remove the silicone seal from the plastic pod and place firmly on the heating element, then "dry fit" the heating element with the chrome end into the plastic pod before filling. Just slide it together without locking it in place. Fill to below the air hole and place together, and it may need a light tap to seat the assembly together. WAWA went from 2 pods for $8 for menthol with 2.4% nicotine to $11 for 2. CRAZY. After watching this vid, I went out to PitBull Smoke Shop and purchased a 30ml bottle of 3.5% nicotine mint/menthol for $21. Just refilled 5 pods. Works great. The Vuse pods hold 1.8ml, so from the 30ml bottle I should get roughly 15 pods for $21 versus WAWA's price of...$11 for 2 which would have been $165 for the same 15 pods. I understand profit but _really_ .
Thanks for all the detail! You're totally accurate about not vaping every last drop before you refill. It took me a while to discover why I had so many pods dead upon refill. Once I started refilling before they were completely depleted, I've had almost zero dead pods at refill. $11 for 2 is a bargain compared to CA. We're paying $20 for 2.
Why don't you just buy a mod from a cape store instead of using this piece of garbage Vuse mod? They make refillable vapes the size of the Vuse that are 100% easier to fill and way more reliable.
using a small flathead on the holes of either side of the metal piece to wiggle the metal cap off is a lot easier and less likely to damage the plastic bits.
lol didnt think of using a dental pick to pull out the plastic housing the coil i used a carving tool to slip between the gap and pop it off with a slight twist of the tool on both sides pops back together very smoothly.
I have mild cerebral palsy and I been trying to get it open for the pass 2 days and I can't seem to do it is there anyway that there a easier method
A friend of mine who is an experienced vaper told me to clean the pod with alcohol and let dry before refilling any opinions on this would be great to read.
