Thanks for sharing your knowledge. My 13hp belt drive pressure washer builds pressure but stalls when I pull the trigger. From what I read online most say its a unloader problem but it seems most of your videos with unloader issues they still spray just at a lower pressure. So my question is is stalling also a symptom of a bad unloader too?
It could be. Typically, the unloader is out of calibration. If the unloader is adjustable by turning the large black knob, turn the knob counterclockwise about 4 times and try the pressure. If this solves the problem you should find my video on how to set the pressure on the unloader. If the inloader is not adjustable or that does not solve the problem, catch me on my Facebook page for more detailed help.
Thanks for this video. I have a DeWalt 4200 Belt drive with a bad pump. I've got the new pump on but am having difficulty sliding the pulley wheel onto the pump drive shaft. Any suggestions?
Hey Brian, I have a Troy Bilt washer with a Honda GC160 5hp engine mod 020208 , 2.5 gpm , 2500 PSI. I just put a new pump on with 2600 psi at 2.5 gpm and it is shutting down , The unloader cannot adjust the pressure , Can I put a lower unloader on or return the pump. Thank for any help,
Excellent information, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I subscribe, mine doesn't stop when I release the trigger and they told me that you have to change that
@@Brian_the_repair_guy Yes thanks, I would like to know what the video is or how to repair the pressure washer, I looked on Facebook but I can't find it
By chance was there another video regarding a broken bolt in the unloader? If not how do you remove a broken bolt? Right now I have two rusted bolts that I broke.
I do not have a video. I have not had that happen in a long time, long before my channel started. Best I can suggest, remove the packing from the head, heat each bolt with a torch and use an ez out to remove. If you have enough of the old bolt sticking out and no ez out, then vise grips work also.
I've got a old xrcv annovi it's a 3,200 psi @ 4gpm. I just rebuilt the pump with new oil/water seals, pistons, etc. I also just ordered a new gyromatic 3 unloader I'm gonna put on when it arrives. When I got this unit there was a barbed hose connection on the INLET that has a hose running to the top right side (that's normally plugged on pics I've seen) above the thermal relief. I assume this is the low pressures end and this setup is fine but I'd like a little reassuring from someone else.
So that little hose is a EZ start set up. It allows you to pull start the engine without building pressure. You can attach it or plug it either way will work.
@@Brian_the_repair_guy thanks appreciate the reply. I called it the low pressure but I assume it's the high pressure since it's the top row of the head and that should be the high side I believe. So it's essentially like a compression release inside the engine for easier starting, good to know and thanks again.
I have a Generac pressure washer and when I started the engine with hoses attached water was spraying out of the unloader and pressure was lost. Could I just need to replace the unloader, or do I need to replace the entire pump?
Not sure which pump you have on the unit you have. It may be possible to rebuild the unloader if not, it may be possible to replace the unloader. If the unloader is NOT bolted on, then complete pump replacement may be needed
@@Brian_the_repair_guy I have a general 3100 psi / 2.8 gpm pressure washer from Lowes. The pump and unloader are all 1 piece (#RSV 3G31). Where would you recommend I go to get a new pump; approximate cost?
Quick Question. 1. to set right pressure until the motor bogs down i have to press the lever in the wand (meaning water should come out). if it bogs down keep the unloader anti clockwise .until no more bogs down wile holding /pressing lever.. is that right... 2. do i really care the pump PSI rating. my motor is gx200 6.5hp i think, rated for 3000 PSI PUMP IF MY motor handles 3500 PSI without bogging down can i set it there, even though pump is rated for 3000 psi. 3. is GPM decided by pump or motor. 4. what should be differece between spike pressure (meaning while pressing lever on wand vs releasing). i heard not more than 400 to 500. if it is like 1000 what should be the cause and how do we correct it. I also like to donate to your channel please do let me know if you have setup one.
A pressure gauge is best to use for setting the pressure. Otherwise, pull the trigger until the engine struggles, then back off as you stated. Typically the pressure can be set higher than the rating stated on the pump, but I would not go beyond 800psi. The GPM is based on the pump not the engine. The higher GPM and higher pressure, the more work the engine has to do. So it is easier for an engine to produce 3000psi at 2 GPM at 2.5GPM
Hi Bryan, I have a 4gpm pressure washer, but the unloader have is built in, so I’m unable to run a bypass hose to my tank, what is my option to avoid my the hot water damaging my machine.

Ok, thank you. That's what I needed. This unloader is NOT replaceable on this pump. You may be able to get a rebuild kit for the unloader from watercannon.com as long as the brass is not damaged.

Light lubrication. Leave the shear key extended past the shaft so you can line the key up with the pulley before it contacts the shaft
