  • Using Gardiner, Montana as a hub, I spent four days exploring the various fishing options in the Paradise Valley as well as exploring Yellowstone National Park (no fishing in the park until after Memorial Day, so that's not in here). This is part 1 of 2 and shows a float on the Yellowstone during the Mother's Day Caddis hatch and wade fishing the Yellowstone and Gardner Rivers during the start of runoff (when a local fly shop said it would be unfishable (spoiler alert: it wasn't)). It focuses on showing the magnitude of the Mother's Day Caddis hatch and some of the challenges a hatch like that presents, and tries to encourage folks to get out and fish the high, muddy water (as always, just be careful). And of course there's that incredible Montana scenery. I hope you enjoy it, thanks as always for watching. (Part 2 will show continued walk-wade fishing on the Yellowstone and Gardner as runoff intensified, a brief effort at hitting a local creek during this runoff, as well as a local pay-to-play spring creek that is a great option when the other rivers and creeks aren't producing.)
    Love,
    A Bush in the Woods.
