The way I see it is like a Cypher is like having a dialog, when you battle it's like having a debate.
But with housedance I feel sometimes I'm doing a monolog(but not always) but most of the time it feels like having a conversation with the other dancers searching for similarities and connecting with them.
But this is my experience in both dancestyles, so that's why it doesn't feel right for me personally
I just wish House danicing can me brought back to Philly. Im a back in the day House Dancer. I miss sooooo much..

I'm from Newark, New Jersey "Brick City and the Original Choclate Land"...LOL. I've been dancin house all my life mixed with many martial arts styles. Rule of thumb pick ur heads up it doesn't make you look confident looks like ur thinking about what ur going to do next. Also helps to switch up styles n movements so there is no room to bore the crowd.
housedance is a club dance. In clubs u have cyphers. Cyphers is battle, even if u go in club for the feeling and have fun, cypher IS battle. So we can battle with housedance

If I were in this battle, I would have problems with the tracks to come in. I had a battle last year where came two tracks what werent the right one for me and I had real problem to get inspirated.

Couldn't fit it all in last post, but I would love to be able to Dance close to Tasho and Toyin who put it down with BADNESS, GRACE and STYLE that comes with being a woman. I could not do all that they do, but I would love for someone to come out with a HOW TO/EXERCISE Video in different levels of difficulty for those of us who were there in the clubs back then, but want to keep up with the now, at a level that our older bodies can handle. Any one know of any house classes in Chicago??? Ironically the place this music was born doesn't seem to have much of a scene anymore (at least from what I've seen), it's all moved to NY and other cities... :(

The ladies won this one. You can clearly see that the guys are uncomfortably trying to think of moves as they dance while the ladies are just free flowing (with the exception of the few routine moves they do). You have to just feel the music and dance. They also play up to the crowd and judges. Notice how the ladies turn and face the judges to dance each time. Very smart.....
housedance battles... somehow it doesn't feel right for me. When I'm Bboying I feel the warrior within comin up, perfect for battles, but when I'm Housedancing I'm just having fun with the music. So for me it doesn't make sense these housedance battles. btw Tasha and Toyin were killin it
@2xKayx10 Just to let you know. House dance came before hip hop. And locking and popping are not components of hip but came from the west coast of America from the Funk movement. Although today both those styles are also done to hip hop music. :)

@babalomapae Every Houser has their OWN flavor in House dancing. Yes their is technique involved but, You can practically add ANY style and incorporate it into House. Its different for everyone. Its not like "modern" hip hop where their is a set of movements you have to do. Its different for anyone and they love it till the very end

I'm born n raised in Philly & am also a house head from way back (pulsations, roxy, the tunnel etc..) & wishes there was an underground club now that played back in da day house music with a big ass floor to dance to:( its all hip hop (don't get it twisted I'm a huge hip hop fan too!), wack club & techno now a days

@Mkivtt03. I might be wrong but I think that House is a component of Hip-hop just like popping, locking, hype & etc. Plus I like how they dance but I didn't like their attitude : that's it. It's my opinion & I'll keep it. Now please people whether you agree with me or not : stop reply to my comment.

@scientrophic yeh man... I see where your coming from... I didnt appreciate this either. To me when I think of house music/dancing.... its an expression of being in the music... feeling it. Seeing this be like a bboy/popping battle doesnt work for me at all.
Would have prefered to see to crews showing creativity to some nice beats.. then call the battle on the dancing ability

@iMPERiOUS im a bboy whom specializes in toprock, theres nothing wrong with this. its called house dance, in bboying its called top rock. two different things pretty much when judged as a battle. theres a bunch of top rock videos on youtube that you can watch, shouldnt waste your time watching this if you have to slander about it.

Nah, saw a lot of jittering but no real musicality from anyone. No freeze frames, no beat ticking, barely any floor work transition into spin moves and def no house poppin aspect. B- at best.
