The Song of Storms is an infinitely recursive Stable Time Loop. The man teaches it to Link so that Link can teach it to him for him to in turn teach it to Link. It exists as a temporal recursion with no beginning or end.

The guy would’ve eventually figured it out himself, played it, realized it made the windmill turn and then adult link asking about it would make the player go back in time and teach the guy the song before he ever knew it, then that’s where the “kid with the ocarina” story started. It all came from one reality where he taught himself the song

The Lizalphos armor in the Mansion connects to a fan theory that I haven't seen get a lot of traction, but that I think has a fair bit of merit.
That "monsters" (Lizalphos, moblins, bokoblins, lynels etc.) aren't actually inherently evil creatures, and have thoughts and feelings much like the more respected races of Hyrule. They clearly make clothes and weapons, speak to each other, and have sort of a basic culture. This is best seen in BotW, but you get hints in other games. It might not be a stretch to imagine that these "lesser races" of Hyrule were once subjugated and used by the higher races, and might have sold their very beings to Ganon in exchange for false promises of freedom and revenge. That would at least explain why a Hylian fortress would have Lizalphos armor, and why numerous locations in BotW are guarded by "monsters" that reasonably have no right being used as guardians in man-made structures.

Calamity Ganon’s blood moon spawns them tho.
The trope of morally grey/relatable villains is usually interesting, imo. In Japanese culture however, stories of evil entities are usually just inherently evil at their core - no redemption, just purely bad from day one.
If I had to guess, I’d say that despite their characteristics, these monsters are just the same.
Speaking of relatable enemies, something I’d be interested in seeing personally is potentially seeing Ganon without the Triforce of power.
In the same way Link and Zelda have had their respective Triforce powers awakening over the spans of previous games, imagine seeing that happening to Ganon. Being a regular albeit rare male Gerudo, gradually corrupted by power as the game’s story progresses could super cool/creepy to watch, imo. :)

This theory doesn’t make much sense, but what if the image of Link fighting a bird is actually Link saving his Loftwing at the start of Skyward Sword. Perhaps Demise saw that as the moment the hero started his journey, so if that moment didn’t happen, he wouldn’t have been stopped. He then engraved it on his armor as Ganondorf to remember that fateful moment.

In Children Timeline Ganondorf never attacked the Kingdom, so Zelda and Impa did not have the necessity to hide, and Ganondorf was imprisoned and executed as we saw in TP.

Paradoxes are fun because if you think of it in a non-linear loop like that you'll go mad. If you think of it in a linear timeline way, like which point comes first on a line, it's a lot easier. That's the inherent problem with being the time traveller, your timeline is different from everyone else's.
      Line 1: World timeline.
A stranger appears and teaches a song to a man in a windmill, speeding things up and draining the well. Seven years later the windmill man teaches that song to a stranger.
Line 2: Personal Timeline (mental flow, the order of events as you experience the in the game)
You go to a grumpy man in a windmill and learn a song. You then travel and teach the song to a happy man in a windmill, which upsets him.
      Wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey.

I thought I beat him once. I thought the only way to beat him was to make it to the bridge in under 1 minute. I thought if he said I made it in 59 seconds, that I’d won the race. I made it once. I was able to stop Epona in front of the Kokiri Forest entrance without her neighing, and I ran in, so happy the timer was at 57 seconds. The time it took me to talk to him ( press the A button I mean), 1 second and a half had probably gone by, and I was 59 seconds when I talked to him. I was so thrilled. My little brother and I had been playing and re-playing this game for more than 3 years now, and the dozens and dozens of times we tried to beat that guy and unleash our killer instinct... a weight had just fallen off both our shoulders, even though I was the one to win first. But then he said he beat me by one second...... I was absolutely pissed off. I yelled and screamed, and have never tried beating him since, since I now know it’s a scam. This took place in 2002. I don’t regret never trying that race again.
I really think the creators should have had a reward for the player though. I don’t know what, but really there should have been something. It was so disappointing and frustrating. Not to mention, it really felt like a let down.

If I had to guess, its propose was to act as a secure base where to move the royal family in case Hyrule castle became an unsafe or fell to enemy forces. It wasn't well known, as shown by Ashei not knowing about it, its location, hard to access location, and highly defensive location, makes it perfect as a secret base to secure or command a war.
It was probably used to protect the royal family after the Gerudo attack to Hyrule castle in the child timeline, and probably attacked at some point before Ganondorf troops fell, and was abandon after the war ended because it either was the repair/maintenance cost was too great or the Knights suffered too many loses to be capable of wasting many operatives in an outpost in the middle of nowhere, causing it to be left and eventually forgotten.

It would more likely be a Roc then a phoenix, as the Zelda games are littered with Roc's Feathers and a few Roc's Capes. As well Helmaroc isn't the only giant bird you face in the games, at least one other comes to mind as the boss for the Eagles Tower in Link's Awakening, and think of the name Helmaroc as Helmet Roc. Take all that in with Roc of myth not being fairly friendly creatures, while Phoenixes are more likely to run from people that would pose a danger, but flock to gentle/kind souls in myth.

The song of storms is one of my favorite mysteries for it's casual loop. After playing Ocarina of Time I thought, who taught Link the song? And I agree it's a bit satisfying to know that, he knew the song, so he could play the song, so he could be taught the song, so he could play the song. Then learning it in Majora's Mask was interesting, though the game is supposed to take place after the events of Ocarina of Time, and that just opened up more mysteries. Love it.

Link was never confirmed to be the "kid" that made the windmill go crazy. It's easy to believe that, but it's just as likely that there was another unseen kid who knew the song, came in, and played the Song of Storms.
Maybe they did this before yoing Link arrived and played the song or maybe even after he arrived and caused an even bigger problem.

But against who? The gerudos? Theyre on the other side of the map, and you dont train soldiers far from both theyre home bases and the frontlines, where most would be unable to even traverse (zoras would freeze, gorons would likely be unable to eat due to the rocks being frozen over). Maybe it was a last refuge for the royal family and elite soldiers in case of the kingdom being taken over.
Plus, the lizalfos armor is strange. Theyve always been enemies, seemingly ganondorfs minions in some way shape or form.
But, it may be simpler. The royal family had both the zonai ruins and snowpeak, as evidenced by the shrine and imagery. Perhaps the zonai WERE lizalfos, as they inhabit the ruins and have carvings of themselves, much like ancient egypt had heiroglyphs picturing humans. Perhaps the lizalfos were once allies, and they stored armor in the cold since lizalfos seem to be able to adapt to the cold (breath of the wild snow lizalfos). Or, they were what the combined armies were fighting, and the armor of high ranking lizalfos were kept as trophies. This would explain why lizalfos seem to be in every region in the games, across all the games, and why the symbols of their empire span the entire kingdom of hyrule.

a theory stated that the gerudos were a very powerful army that ganondorf used to attack Hyrule Castle after OOT link came back as a child and prevented the king's death by telling him of the events of the future.
The Zoras and the gorons were allies of the king of Hyrule , so them getting trained at the snowpeak to become more powerful and useful on the frontlines isn't that far off.
Also, during that time perhaps the snowpeak area had a warmer climate and so the gorons and the Zoras were capable of traveling from the training base to the frontlines .
And after the war ended and the training base wasn't needed anymore it slowly became forgotten, and top of that, the climate started to change drastically

I actually had a Lorule theory before LBW came out. When Link wishes on the Triforce at the end of LTTP, the dark world is recreated to reflect what's in his heart: a better light world. People that were dead come back to life, and peace returns to the kingdom. But what happens to the original light world? Well, the master sword and the triforce no longer exists in its realm, so there's no essence of divinity remaining in that dimension. I always figured that Lorule was just the old light world, eons later, and it's all in decay.
Edit: I was going to leave it at that, but I think that further explains your mystery. In LTTP, travelers could only go from the light world to the dark world. There was no way back without the magic mirror. That rift that allowed Yuga to get to the new light world could have been related to the same magic that allowed the dimensional travel in LTTP. Yuga being a sorcerer very likely could have created a way to travel both ways like the mirror did. Either that, or the decay of Lorule weakened the barrier between worlds and Yuga was able to take advantage of that.

But it’s clear that these are recent pictures as they are identical to how they look in-game. Also there is a picture of the recently deceased Zora Queen and another of an unidentified man, which I’m guessing is Snowpeak’s owner. Clearly the owner was in the know on a lot of things going on in Hyrule that were considered mysteries themselves. There are people who theorized that same man is Rauru as they look very similar if I remember right, but I’m not really certain on that one way or the other. The champions were almost certainly ambushed within their Divine Beasts while preparing to annihilate Ganon. Though all of them were said to be skilled warriors so at first it would seem weird that they’d lose to the Blights simply because they were caught off guard. Until you realized that they also had no weapons. Each champion has their own unique weapon that they’re skilled with, and Link can get each of them in game to use. However it’s who you get them from that matters. You aren’t given them directly from the champions themselves, but rather from the rulers of each respective area as a reward for freeing the Divine Beasts. If the champions had their weapons with them when died inside the Divine Beasts, then they would likely still be there 100 years later, but they aren’t. For this reason I believe that when Ganon reappeared they went to their Divine Beasts unarmed, and to be fair given their roles they had no real reason to prepare for combat. Even if the plan worked they’d be so far from Hyrule Castle that by the time they got there the fight would already be over. If the champions had their weapons I think they could’ve survived the sudden attack, but it seems more likely that they didn’t.

I have to respectfully disagree with your opinion. I bought that game on its release day & have regretted it. I tried to keep an open mind & wanted to like it, but being an oldschool Zelda player from the NES games, it just didn't do it for me. It brought back, and even worse, magnified too many things from Skyward Sword (a game I also didn't like at all) that I disliked---things breaking (shields only in SS vs. everything in BotW), collecting all kinds of stuff for crafting (I just hate collectathons & loved how A Link Between Worlds limited it to just 3 things---horns, guts & claws), brought back the stamina meter from SS that I hated (which closes the world), didn't like the lack of dungeons in proportion to the size of the world, hated the shrines (they felt like they were lazy attempts to make up for the lack of dungeons & many were too similar), didn't like the lack of music, the lack of any meaningful reason for me to want to explore the world (no lasting items or heart pieces/containers to find, just stuff that all breaks ultimately), the size of the world vs. meaningful stuff filling it up like the 2d games & Majora's Mask had much more of, more than half of the deaths I took were by things the camera didn't even allow me to see, the damn Koroks as lazy fillers for actual secrets, the horrible horse controls when Twilight Princess (Wii version at least) had perfect horse controls...I could go on.
I never played one of these Skyrim type games before since I'm mostly a retro gamer so it was a new experience & one I just didn't like. I would've probably been ok with it had it not been a Zelda game, but it being a Zelda game brings certain expectations and the game just didn't deliver on any of the key expectations for me. The one thing I actually liked a lot about the game---the cliff scaling---was ruined by the rain that fell making it too slippery to climb. Or other times it was ruined by the stamina gauge. As much as they pretend the game is "open world", these things closed it quite a bit & forced the player to upgrade to be able to reach certain areas. The first Zelda game still remains the most open Zelda game as you can reach Level-9 (enter it but you'll need the 8 ToW pieces to advance beyond the 2nd room) without anything other than bombs that certain enemies in the overworld can drop. It's like they wanted to add elements of realism to BotW, but that to me is ridiculous. It's incomprehensible to me why the latest installment of the series which started its 1st game with the subtitle of "The hyrule Fantasy" would want to include elements of realism in it (and those weren't even entirely real as the moment it stops raining, you can climb cliffs again in the game, which would never happen if trying to scale a wet cliff after rain stops in real life). I also liked the less linearity it had (the freedom it gave the player where to go), but that too was compromised by upgrades & stuff you needed to collect to reach or survive certain areas & the glider thing you needed that closed up the opening part of the game.
So it depends on the person & what their preferences are, whether this game is a must-play. It's definitely not for everyone. I have friends online who like it & those who don't, so I know I'm not the only one. I think the best thing Nintendo could do is maintain the traditional Zelda formula & make a new IP featuring a series of games with the gameplay that BotW has. It would've been nice had they released 2 games the day BotW was released---one that played like a traditional 3D Zelda game and one that would be what BotW was and have their worlds interact/combine like the Oracle games, but in far greater depth using the current technology at hand. The traditional Zelda game could've been set in hyrule & the BotW style game could've been set in Lorule & been tied to the Zelda IP as the pilot game in the series to make more people want to buy it but later on get disconnected to Zelda & become its own thing with its own characters. That would've given players the option to play the games seperately or together, allowing for multiple experiences/replayability. I'd hate to wash my hands off a series that I first played 30+ years ago & have enjoyed more than any other because the general formula was dumped in favor of a modern fad, but unfortunately that's how I see it happening.
I can see why Nintendo would want to do that though---because making a game that plays like BotW (minimal dungeons, mostly empty world considering its size other than fighting enemies, shrines, some towns, Koroks, and collecting tons of material) takes a lot less effort than it takes making a game that has 6-10 dungeons that are all completable without softlocking with different visual themes, puzzles, etc. plus an overworld full of secrets.

      @BlueDragonknight375 5 років тому +10

Maybe at one point there was a random boom of male Gerudo. There were so many that the women began to treat them like any other voe. They got mad and left to create their own tribe and fought against the Gerudo. They could have even been led by the last Ganondorf. The Gerudo were able to get help from the other races and wiped out this new tribe.

Ok, here's an old theory by Macintyre productions. The Snowpeak ruins were originally constructed by the royal family of Hyrule as a fortress to protect themselves. The ruins are in a remote location and can be easily defended, since there is only one way in and is well stocked with weapons and artillery. The coat of arms seen throughout the ruins could be the sigil of the royal guard since we see the same sigil in Hyrule Castle. The ruins likely served as a fortress where the royal family and their court would hide during times of crisis, such as a war. It is likely that it was used during the Guerodo-Hylian war. While the war rages on, the royal family would be hiding in the fortress, far away from the front and safe if the war ever reached Castle Town. It could be that after the war, the Hylians were so busy with reconstruction that the fortress was abandoned and left to rot. It could also be that, with the Guerodo wiped out, the Hylians no longer saw the need for it, based on the state of Hyrule's military. All the soldiers are cowards, and weren't prepared for the Twilight invasion. It could also explain why we don't see the royal guard, they were likely disbanded after the war.

    • @kingdaniel3519

I believe that the Snowpeak Ruins belonged to the royal family. It's not a fortress or outpost, it's too elaborately decorated and appears to have offered many comforts. It's clear that this was a manor for someone both wealthy and worth protecting. Also, since there are symbols and decorations connected to the royal family, it more than implies that the Snowpeak Ruins were built for them. Perhaps it served as a vacation getaway or second home for the royals during better times.

    Conclusion:
The monster races are the ones who made the ruins. They’ve repeatedly been shown to be highly intelligent and social (and various incarnations of the Zora are enemies, and the Yetis themselves are apparently hunted to near extinction-I kinda threw up once I realized Ashei was wearing a Yeti corpse...and moments later you befriend yetis.)
So, Snowpeak could easily be where various races attempted to make a last stand, while the BotW ruins could be what these monster civilization(s) were like at their peak (personally I think the BotW ones fit Lizalfos eerily well. It makes sense for “little dragons” to worship a BIG dragon...and they’re everywhere in the City of the Sky...as is yet another (evil) dragon)
...and so far my brother claims that lynels leave Link alone in BotW unless he provokes them.
Intelligent “monsters”, siding only with Ganondorf out of desperation to not be hunted anymore, and finding a sort of kinship on occation with Gerudo and Sheikah who often suffer similar prejudice.

Yeah while seeing the part about the arnours in the mansion my idea was that lizalfos probably were a sentient working class type and that they were also used as guardians for the royal family. At some point they may have been corrupted or just joined the side of evil and they underwent a devolution of sorts causing the savages we see in games.
