The Nepal constitution extends rights to LGBTIQA+ individuals under Articles 12, 18, and 42. However, despite these legal protections, members of the LGBTIQA+ community continue to grapple with pervasive stigma and discrimination from various facets of society, including their families, broader communities, and even authorities.
In a poignant portrayal through dance and drama, this event aims to shed light on the distinct forms of stigma and discrimination endured by the LGBTIQA+ community. Specifically, the performance delves into the harsh realities of bullying faced by LGBTIQA+ youth within educational institutions, perpetrated by both peers and educators. It unearths the painful lack of acceptance within families, particularly towards transgender women and men.
Furthermore, this production intricately weaves in a touching narrative of love between a gay couple, showcasing the beauty and resilience of same-sex relationships. Amidst the portrayal of struggles, the performance also serves as a platform for advocacy, emphasizing the urgent need for human rights protections and societal acceptance for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Through compelling storytelling and powerful performances, the event strives to ignite empathy, foster understanding, and catalyze positive change in the ongoing fight for equality and justice.
