    This video was so helpful to get it all set up. The included brochure is a waste of paper. Thank you for doing this.

    I use one on my small blade for my gloves. I hollowgrind on it and it works like a dream👌🏻

    I bought this machine five yrs ago , i think they were under 200 when they first came out, i cant exactly remember but from memory they were copied from a manufacturer from middle east, i used them to hollow grind butchering knives, they work but pretty slow, the tracking is also a bit flimsy especially when using cheap belts, they are pretty handy to use for sharpening and small projects

    Honestly 4 inch is to small for hollow grind, maybe for final bevel ok, or if its a small knife, however I must say this looks like a nice grinder, very small footprint, could be good for mobile sharpening service.

      Thank you for the input, I may grab a 2nd unit for sharpening with them. Run a coarse and fine grit belt.

    Do you think this would be a decent starting grinder for stock removal I'm trying to get started in the craft and don't want to shell out a grand for a 2x72 I would use it mostly for bevels thanx.

      I have a video I did on a Multitool brand 2x48 grinder. It works great for stock removal. I believe its 1hp. The 2 inch belt is much easier to shape the bevel then a 1 inch belt. Im not saying it cant be done with the 1x30, its just going to take more time effort, belts and skill. My bevels I have done were much easier on the 2 inch belt for side to side evenness. The company that makes this chinese 1x30 grinder puts out a bigger grinder with a 2 inch wide belt. Grizzly has a 2x42 that I picked up a few months back. I have not had time to review it. I hear the Grizzly 2x42 has a weak motor so I may use it to sharpen until I can get a bigger motor. My recommendation would be a multitool 2x48 or equal grinder at minimum with 1hp motor for stock removal. I get no kick back from Multitool although they did send me a grinder to review. My first choice would be Ameribrade 2x72 or 2x48. I havent had the money to get an Ameribrade yet. There is also a machine that is similar to a Tormek that allows belts to work with the machine. It is variable speed and reversable with a guide rod for sharpening that looks like a nice tool to have.

      @@WardogOutdoors Thanks. And I have seen the grizzly 2x42 and the motor isn't what has me bothered by it because I believe I would be going slow and taking my time being new and all, however the stuff I've seen about the platen is what has me worried I'm just getting going and I don't want to have to upgrade a tool before I use it. But am about to watch your other video thanx for pointing me in a good direction I really appreciate it. Earned a sub bro.

      Thank you for subscribing. Your welcome and good luck to you. Im not a pro but I have ground a few blades. There are people who makes knives on 1x30 grinders so it is possible with this grinder. If it dont do what you want at least you could use it to sharpen, scotch brite belts for polishing and leather belt for quick strop.

    what is the point of that allen head screw when going from the different tool heads? it isnt big enough to actually keep it from slipping through. it seems tightening the handle locks the spindle in place. what is the bolt for??

    • @enginesonmute
      @enginesonmute Місяць тому +2

      It's to hold the work table in place. If not using the work table you don't need them the black screw wrench holds the tooling arm in

      @WardogOutdoors  7 місяців тому +1

      The VFD is not sealed, I dont believe the motor is sealed but not sure. My guess would be not sealed.

      This is a Toolcker 550 watt small belt machine ordered from T-King on Amazon. There are other sellers as well. I had no issues ordering from T-King, it was delivered a few weeks early from estimated date.

    If you had to pick between the Kalamazoo and the toolcker which would you choose

    • @WardogOutdoors
      @WardogOutdoors  9 місяців тому +4

      The 1x42 is nice because the belt is longer so it stays cooler longer, but the speed is not variable. The Toolcker is variable speed, adjustable flat platten to different angles, 4" rubber contact wheel. Each has its perks.

      I have my Kalamazoo 1x42 set up for high speed leather stropping right now. It works amazing for ripping away burr/ wire edge. The 1x42 also works great with surface conditioning belts to resurface the sides of knives and shaping knife handles.

    • @ManuelMAfilados
      @ManuelMAfilados Місяць тому +1

      @@WardogOutdoors Simply because if I use a scotch band, not to do it against the edge and to be able to do it more comfortably.

      If you are talking about being reversable, yes there is a button to push to change direction. Only change while belt is stopped.
