On July 11, a meeting with representatives of international trade unions took place in Chervonograd. The head of the Chervonograd District State Administration Andriy Dyachenko, the mayor of Chervonograd, the Chervonograd City Council Andriy Zalivskyi, and the head of the SE "Lvivvugilya" Vadym Kras spoke with the deputy general secretary of IndustriALL Global Union Kemal Ozkan, a member of the board of the German trade union IGBCE Oleksandr Berkht, the head of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine (CFTUU ) (KVPU) by Mykhailo Volynets, international secretary of the KVPU Olesya Bryazgunova, head of the Regional Association of NPSU Myroslava Kaftan, local trade union activist of NPSU.
IndustriALL unites 50 million workers in 140 countries around the world employed in the mining, energy and processing industries. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, it has provided significant support to Ukraine. KVPU is a member of the organization.
The head of the military administration, Andriy Dyachenko, was the first to thank IndustriALL for helping the Ukrainian people. He briefly presented the Chervonograd district - 7 territorial communities, 240,000 inhabitants - and the key role of miners in the industry of the region. As a manager with extensive experience in the coal industry, he noted the importance of working meetings with international partners and the need to solve the urgent problems of miners.
Andrii Zalivskyi, in his turn, spoke about the cooperation of Chervonograd with SE "Lvivvugilya", he emphasized that miners fill more than 30% of the city's budget. Therefore, the permanent operation of the mines is of decisive importance for the citizens and the functioning of local businesses.
The head of Lviv Coal State Enterprise Vadym Kras said that more than 6,000 people work at five operating mines and auxiliary enterprises. Solid fuel reserves allow us to talk about coal mining for decades to come. SE "Lvivvugillia" is a planned unprofitable enterprise that receives state financial support to partially cover the cost of coal production. Investments in new mining equipment are required. There is a war in the country, the state cannot finance these expenses, therefore attracting investments from international partners is being considered. Due to the mobilization of part of the miners for the defense of Ukraine, there is an acute shortage of personnel. The main problems are wage and tax arrears caused by external factors. Such problems are typical for all state coal associations, not only for SE "Lvivvugillia".
- Cooperation with trade unions is important for the administration of Lviv Coal State Enterprise, because a wide range of problems need to be solved, Vadym Kras emphasized.
Myroslava Kaftan, head of Chervonograd National University of Applied Sciences, informed about the urgent social problems of miners.
Kemal Ozkan, Deputy General Secretary of the IndustriALL Global Union, spoke about the directions in which Ukraine is supported - it is support for Ukrainian refugees in European countries, humanitarian projects, integration of the Ukrainian trade union movement into the international one, investment attraction, etc. Such meetings with representatives of local authorities, the head of the local coal company, and trade unionists are very timely. International trade unions are communicating with the government of Ukraine regarding the earliest possible payment of salaries to public sector miners.
- All over the world, miners are very active citizens. We understand that during the war it is very difficult to solve social issues. But we need to talk about them and try to solve them. IndustriALL confirms its support for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression, Kemal Ozkan emphasized.
