Love How Chris is always trying to be polite in front of the local's and his friend is always cracking jokes trying to get him to laugh. It's quite amusing.
With every abroad in japan video I watch, my upcoming trip to Japan is taking shape. Theres only one activity im planning to take part in that he hasnt made a video about and that is visiting Dejima in Nagasaki. Its the only place the Dutch were allowed to dock in the 17th century and theres alot of their history to be found there.
Just stumbled upon this channel today, and have spent my entire Saturday watching these videos. I have always been fascinated with Japan, but these videos make the pull towards it ever stronger.
I don't know how Chris could keep it in, i litteraly laughed for half a minute without stoping, i guess British are really grumpy, it was bad weather too
China doesn't make much sense... JK, I have to ask my parents how Chinese people name their children... my aunt named her child randomly... the naming sense is actually quite strange...
First tip for you for better slurping: Dont take such big amounts of noodles at one time. A bigger amount of noodles is heavier thus more difficult to slurp / suck in. The gentleman to the right took maybe half the amount of noodles you took :)
I don't even understand how you can not be able to slurp noodles ;) You dont have to be a world record slurper like the guy right next to him, but he was just putting the noodles in the back of his mouth and then made a weird noise instead of just sucking noodles and air in. Was really funny watchting him do that
I was not sure where to post this. I'd like to apologize for staring at your profusely at Robot Restaurant as my brain tried to figure out if you were you and then whether I had the courage to ask. Also, sorry if I bugged you and your friends! I at least hope I was able to give you the ability to brag that people know you. :) Love your videos and am looking forward to more!
+Abroadin Japan I think that's why I kept staring, haha. The grown in facial hair threw me off. Also, the show was amazingly nonsensical and amazing :D
WHAT'S YOUR recommended spot for viewing Cherry Blossom?! And is there anyone out there other than me who cant slurp noodles? (Please reassure me) Let us know below!
Its hard. especially when you add wasabi to your broth mix. Wasabi gets into your noses that way when slurping...I could be doing it very wrong though...
+Abroadin Japan The first time I tried to eat noodles I ended up burning my mouth because I felt uncomfortable making all of these slurping sounds. The second time however I was wise enough to at least try the slurping thing. No burnt mouth this time, but definitely some spills of soup around the clumsy foreigner. On the third time I thought I got it right, but I still got some weird looks from some people passing by. Maybe because they were surprised to see a foreigner managing to pull off a good slurping or because they were intrigued by how a foreigner was making fun of himself, getting a simple task as eating wrong. But to answer your question: I think I got a hang of it after having stayed in Japan for only two weeks. がんばって Chris :)
+Abroadin Japan It's in Tokyo, but the Chidorigafuchi was absolutely beautiful. Plus you can ride the boats during the day and then at night you can see Tokyo Tower at the end of the river. Lovely view ^_^
+Abroadin Japan Chidorigafuchi in Tokyo. Hands down the best spot lucksi.com/Piwigo/picture.php?/112/category/2 lucksi.com/Piwigo/picture.php?/114/category/2 It was the only spot I visited twice on my little tour through mainland Japan. And I was travelling with the bloom as luck would have it.
Chris, your banter with Ryotaro is on-par with Natsuki! Great personalities, the both of you. The comments and comedic timing of your banter is hilarious. Definitely keep bringing him back into videos. When he had to reassure himself of the Japanese word for the meal when you've been promoting him as a 'Real life Japanese person'...dear god, that was brilliant.
I was lucky enough to see the cherry blossom on my first trip to Japan. They were absolutely beautiful. On my last day I went to Ueno park and saw all of the cherry blossoms and a flower fell on my head and I grabbed it and cried. I cried all the way to the airport.
+Turi Caederynmab Don't even have to go to Wales or Scotland to see mountains. Even Southern England has hills over 1000 feet tall. The UK IS a formerly volcanic region. It's pretty obvious it's sarcasm but because not everybody is aware of or interested in British geology it's kind of fallen flat.
As an English person who loves Japanese culture, I find your perspective on things hilarious and very relatable! I always look forward to watching your videos :) The fact that you used The Theme Of The Celestials from Okami at the start of this one made me love it even more!
I binge watched all your videos and I have absolutely no regrets. You're amazing and hilarious and I've already watched most of your videos several times because I can't get enough of them. Please keep up your great work!
Im going to Japan in 3 weeks but your videos make me want to live there forever. Genuinely great content with witty humour is a flawless pairing. Love your vids!
+Sherese Lee is this your first visit? I was there a few months ago. Loved every moment of it. Beautiful country, beautiful people. Food was awesome, of course. Have a wonderful time!
+Sherese Lee If you want to live here, you will need to work here, correct? Let me tell you a not-so-pretty thing about Japan. Unless you are coming with a high profession, a lot of money, or to live off of your husband (if any), I wouldnt recommend you come to live here. This is bad already for many male foreigners, but for the female is even worst in regards of working. Not only are women treated like shit (both locals and foreigners), but also you get paid way less, you rarely get promoted to a respectful position and you do everyone else's work. also, your Japanese language most be as good as those who were born here and even they had problems understanding their own language most of the time.
You are going to have an awesome time. The people and friends I made there were so kind and beautiful! Make sure you go to Kamakura. The Japanese friends I made there and I rented a cab for a day and the guy took us to every temple there and good local restaurants! One of my favorite experiences. If your there for the summer, make sure not to miss out on a "Bon Odori" festival and wear your yukata! Have fun!
Such a beautiful view. Something very spiritual and humbling about all the blossoms. Japan and its people, never cease to amaze me. It is the one country on my bucket list to visit. I am grateful for all your videos, as for me, they will be a guide for where i chose to visit while there. Keep up the great work.
I love your videos Chris, you always get me so deep into your video that I'm not even pausing a single time until the end. It's just amazing how good and fun your videos are. I hope even if you grow bigger on UA-cam, you never stop being like this. Keep up the good work!
This is one of my favorite videos of yours, Chris, because it looks like you're having so much fun! Laughing and joking around. Absolutely love your videos, thank you for existing.
I walked along the Shiroishi River from Ogawara to Funaoka with a friend during this Sakura season when I was visiting Japan, it was absolutely wonderful!
+DraynaRue Games In fact, there are so many foreigners living in Japan who are not interested in Japanese culture or tradition or history at all, specially in Tokyo. They're here just for job.
When I heard this I began to wonder if he deliberately pretends to be a fresh-faced tourist so he still gets the enthusiastic presentation. Since in truth he's already spent a long time there, has learnt Japanese, and is about as thoroughly experienced as a foreigner can get.
When I visited the UK on vacation, the closest thing I saw to a mountain was Snowdonia National Park In Wales. That was a nice nature appreciation place.
Gorgeous! Would love more nature/countryside videos like these! The japanese countryside seem very interesting and beautiful, but most youtubers seem to focus more on urban areas, so its hard to really get an idea of it for someone not living in/visiting Japan. (And I totally get the "thing with mountains"; Im norwegian so I should probably be used to them, but the nearest mountain from where I live is like 4 hours drive away so to me they are really exciting too, lol. The peak district and the lake district feels like the alps in comparison to my home county in norway, so Id say you definitely got mountains in the UK :D )
+Lorien I second the more countryside videos! I normally live in the south of the UK where it´s really flat (split between urban and rural areas, I love where I lived early childhood in a rural area the most), although I´ve visited the lake district and now I actually moved to study in Wales just because of the mountains and countryside (it´s not exactly the kind of uni you´d go to for any other reason, tbh, but I didn´t care) though I´m still an hour or so´s drive from them. Norway´s a very pretty place, I dated a girl from there, she sends me pictures of where she is quite a bit. I can understand a lot of the language too, though I´m better with Swedish.
+Lorien Japan and Norway does have a lot of similarities in that way, both being extremely mountainous. Japan being approximately 72% mountainous terrain, while Norway is about 90%. I kinda miss it, actually. Having studied abroad in the UK for almost a year now, there haven't been any hills or mountainsides to climb or anything like that when going on walks, but now I'm heading back at the end of the month! Quite looking forward to it!
+DigitalFumbles I don't know where you're studying but you should go to the Lake District or Peak District, in the north west. They both have absolutely beautiful scenery and lot's of mountains/hills to hike up. :-)
I've been on here all day. This is so entertaining. I love how you describe the dishes.lol OMG the fresh, local, beautiful food. Wish I could experience that. Thanks for the uploads.
🌸🌸🌸 I live in germany, City of Essen. 🌸 Here are some cherry trees in the park. 🌸 One year the sun was perfect, the air was calm.🌸 I sat there and off of a sudden a strong wind came up. 🌸 Just one strong blow. 🌸 Mindblowing, like in "the last Samurai" ! 🌸 Watching this cloud of white-pink petals... Still gives me goosebumbs when I think of it! 🌸🌸🌸
OMG, Chris! You finally made a video about sakura. Seeing this video just increased my desire to move to Japan by 175%. And as always, you're hilarious. Keep them coming!
Chris, it's nothing important but I just wanted to say thanks for your wonderful videos. I've been having rather horrible weeks recently and I keep on watching / listening to your videos on headphones to help stave off the anxiety and depression. Thank you Chris and to all of your friends.
Chris, you are insanely funny and I love your english accent (I'm from Brazil by the way). It's great how you show so many different things and places from Japan, not only Tokyo. I just subscribed to your channel and watched all your videos (yes, ALL!!!) in less than a week. That's crazy, right?! (Yes, I do have a life!) Keep going!! You are awesome!! P.S.1: I was going to ask you what hapenned to Natsuki, but thank god he was in the last video! I missed him so much!! Really funny guy!! P.S.2: This is actually the first time I commented on youtube. :)
I've been binge watching your vidoes, I like how you put the out-takes or mistakes or whatever they're called, it makes your videos really relatable and authentic. I'm really enjoying them
Snow in April? Hey it's like my home! But we even got it in may... and very cold. Typical German islands ^^ my dream would be to live in Japan but I don't think it's gonna be this life
Hello from Russia :D last several years I played snowballs on my birthday at the 22th of April.. not a thing to boast of ahah And Dr. Klenk, don't give up, everything is possible! Even Naruto became hokage!..
Im addicted on information on Japan, you and your friends. I want to spend a day with you! I keep returning to this channel, and I rewatch everything because i just enjoy your videos so much! I appreciate the effort and research you put into your videos! Thank you for your work!
+Raymond Lillington Haha that's true. Let's face it though. Scotland is probably even less desirable to live in so I didn't think it was worth mentioning ;)
bruhhhh, i'm going to japan in mid april for my first time and i'm so excited! the fox village was definitely on my to do list but i figured while in the area it'd be nice to just spend a day or two up in rural japan. so i looked around the local areas near shiroishi and stumbled across funaoka castle ruins park, where you guys went in this video!! i saw pictures of the tram and KNEW i had to go. i really hope the cherry blossoms are still going up there as i plan on going up in the sendai area around april 14th! cant wait!!:)
japan is like a cherry blossom tree, the nation is the tree, tokyo is the root, the prefectures are the branches and the blossoms are the people, god bless japan,
I miss it every year 😔 I watched this a long time ago but decided to watch again. It's interesting seeing younger you again. It doesn't even feel like it's been that long 😕
Love your videos because you shoot like I would in more of a documentary style with all the angles and b-roll I would get for coverage. I'm an old news videographer. This place looks amazing.
That is one of my dreams though. I really pray that I can go to Japan myself and check these out myself too. Man, when nature takes in, that is the best feelings ever..
Don't worry, I'm half Japanese and my mother still wasn't able to make me learn the technique of slurping noodles. It's hard. My relatives gonna laugh too when I visit them.
My friend that lives in Japan has recommended that I come early April. Mainly due to it not being too cold but also due to this most iconic time of year. One thing I didnt know about was WHERE to best view this but, i think this video has really helped me make my mind up. STUNNING!! Thanks for this!
its just dawned on me..
Abroad in Japan...
Chris Broad....
you are in fact....
a 'Broad' in Japan,
MINDBLOWN
kerry Lee it’s a real wow moment when you figure it out😝
I thought it was going to be some broad at first...
That's the joke.
Love the brits and their neverending quest to take any and all opportunities to turn a phrase
Would be more clever if he was a woman

Video Vagrancy
Me too. I’m here in Sendai right now and found this channel and have been binge watching these and laughing hysterically
"my friend in Hong Kong is called Creamy" is the best line of this episode
And the dramatic cord that plays right after he says it... I died. Freakin hilarious!
I don't know how Chris could keep it in, i litteraly laughed for half a minute without stoping, i guess British are really grumpy, it was bad weather too
@@eviljesus84 make cream?

Natsuki and Ryouta in SAME video one day?!
+True Mexico Are we really prepared for that?
Good point. Is UA-cam prepared for that? Their servers would crash under the strain.
Bloody blasphemy
+True Mexico any chance of a Natsuki X Ryotaro spin off?
+True Mexico Natsuki: "Fucking cleaner" XD
I love the little old lady in the background waving at the camera while you tried the sticky rice treats.
First tip for you for better slurping: Dont take such big amounts of noodles at one time. A bigger amount of noodles is heavier thus more difficult to slurp / suck in. The gentleman to the right took maybe half the amount of noodles you took :)
+Lukas Mihara yes and dont place the bulk of the noodles so far in the back of your mouth, rely on your lips/tongue the bring the noodles in...
+Lukas Mihara He also seems to be using his teeth during the slurp. I feel this inhibits it as well.
Don't you use air as well to pull the noodles in?
gona buy some noddles and try it....
I don't even understand how you can not be able to slurp noodles ;)
You dont have to be a world record slurper like the guy right next to him, but he was just putting the noodles in the back of his mouth and then made a weird noise instead of just sucking noodles and air in. Was really funny watchting him do that

Sam Curtis I GASPED
Yep
I was looking for a comment about that :D It has the most beautiful music ever

+DraynaRue Games In fact, there are so many foreigners living in Japan who are not interested in Japanese culture or tradition or history at all, specially in Tokyo.

You're always welcome, visit Tokyo when you can.

This is so picturesque, I almost can't believe it's real! Especially that shot with the cable car.
OMG Chris is absolutely adorable trying to slurp down noodles and failing to keep a straight face. 😆 I love when he gets embarrassed--so cute!!!
Brilliant video. I can't wait to go to Japan and see the cherry blossoms.
I love that you used Okami's music in this - one of the best game soundtracks of all time :')
The flowers and country side is so beautiful!!!! ❤️ 😍

Bárbara A. do you still watch his videos? I discovered his channel a couple of weeks ago and I've been on this marathon to watch them all!
Dimapelo Manual I do the same now!
I've been binge watching your vidoes, I like how you put the out-takes or mistakes or whatever they're called, it makes your videos really relatable and authentic. I'm really enjoying them
The creamy friend in front of the tea master had me howling with laughter! 😂
My mouth watered at the curry doughnut. It's one of my favorite IF NOT favorite thing to eat as a snack.
Snow in April? Hey it's like my home!
But we even got it in may... and very cold. Typical German islands ^^ my dream would be to live in Japan but I don't think it's gonna be this life
Hello from Russia :D last several years I played snowballs on my birthday at the 22th of April.. not a thing to boast of ahah
And Dr.
2 full length videos in one week! BOOM!
that beginning music is amazing, pristine and beautiful
Ryotaro is so cute. I think I'm in love already.
桜の季節が今年もやってきたー!
I live in a small town in Switzerland and you can see mountains after walking 2 metres out of the house
yes i love the added touch of Okami Music
Haha, the UK does have mountains! They're just not in England ;)
Though I'm not sure mountains is enough reason to justify living here in Wales...
+Lucas Williams we've got the Pennines, they kind of count right? ;)
+Lucas Williams There are in England too ;) The Lake District!
i lived in the U.K. (England) for 2.5 years. One of my best adventures was climbing the mountains in Wales.
+Lucas Williams The highlands In Scotland Is nothing but mountains.
+Raymond Lillington Haha that's true. Let's face it though. Scotland is probably even less desirable to live in so I didn't think it was worth mentioning ;)
Ryoutas english is SO good! I wish every japanese english teacher would speak english on this level.
一目千本桜いいですね!自分んも久しぶりに行きたくなりました!
I understand your sentiment.
The panorama shot at 3:30 is quite staggeringly beautiful.
flower taste...reminds me of jasmine rice. Thank you for vid. The scenery is gorgeous. I like your friend as well.
I like when you enjoy travel with friends. Ry and Nat are good friends.
Chris : It’s good to see you’re so youthful, despite in your incredible age
Ryo-san : Incredible age ? Shut up ! 😂😂😂
the music at the beginning is so much making me get into the Japanese culture.
Will we someday see Natsuki's videos from England?
+SatanSupimpa I thought they are already there.
He posted just a small clip
I think they'll be in the Natsuki film which should be released in the next two weeks or so.
hah next two weeks
I come from the future and it's more like years, you guys but the wait was totally worth it.
Shokupan is definitely different, and superior! So soft and delicious.
bruhhhh, i'm going to japan in mid april for my first time and i'm so excited! the fox village was definitely on my to do list but i figured while in the area it'd be nice to just spend a day or two up in rural japan. so i looked around the local areas near shiroishi and stumbled across funaoka castle ruins park, where you guys went in this video!! i saw pictures of the tram and KNEW i had to go. i really hope the cherry blossoms are still going up there as i plan on going up in the sendai area around april 14th! cant wait!!:)
japan is like a cherry blossom tree, the nation is the tree, tokyo is the root, the prefectures are the branches and the blossoms are the people, god bless japan,
This is terrorizing my hunger at 2 am.
+Yout Tuka You will prevail.
+Yout Tuka Jack in the box is always open!
I never imagined that i would get to witness somebody using an okami soudtrack in their vlog.. i'm happy now
そば食べるところ面白いなぁw
11:10
I miss it every year 😔 I watched this a long time ago but decided to watch again. It's interesting seeing younger you again. It doesn't even feel like it's been that long 😕
米をあり得ないくらいめちゃめちゃにこねくり回して作るwwww
まさにそうですね
この動画を見たイギリスの人が
普通の米をめちゃくちゃにこね繰り回す姿が見える…
You like mountains so much because they always give you the high ground
If you want to describe food, use the word "earthy." Everyone uses it and it doesnt mean anything, but it makes you sound smart.
don't forget the word 'smoky'
+The Silver Knight I eat a lot of game meat and liver and that's what "earthy" means to me....
I also use the word earthy but only when its something that remind me of root flavors or mushrooms types. Is it the MSG maybe xD
Earthy is a thing. Also smoky lol, of course some smoked things taste smoky.
It means they used to eat earth before
I hope I'm not the only one who got really excited when a soundtrack from the game Okami started playing in the video
"a lot of foreigner have this issue with bread" - "It tastes just like bread in the UK". Yeah, thats the problem right there.
Yep. Rule of thumb: if you can tie a knot into it, it's probably not bread.
Love your videos because you shoot like I would in more of a documentary style with all the angles and b-roll I would get for coverage. I'm an old news videographer. This place looks amazing.
Curry Donuts is AMAZING, You FOOOOL!
❤️一緒に旅しているみたいです❣️とっても楽しい🌸🍡とか🇯🇵🍜すするズズズッーッ❕最高だわ🎵(笑)(笑)(笑) あんこう鍋and納豆もチャレンジね❣️
Hanami, such a beautiful word, especially when you are a nature passionate botanist, I'm so glad to learn it exists
