I've only heard about this ballet and seen pictures of it in books. It's really beautiful, and I love the music. Thank you for posting this on UA-cam, and I wish more companies had this in their rep.
such an effervescent feeling this ballet gives, like champagne brimming over. there's no other ballet like it. music my Carl Czerny, choreography by Harald Lander, i just love it! thank you.
Man this is a ballet that brings a company level really high ( more so than Thems and variations). They do an excellent job at it. It must be so much fun doing it even though i am sure you can't really move anymore afterwords and during it you don't wanna stop for breathing cause you'll just fall flat on the floor. :-) But really great to see. Cogratulations
I first saw this in the 1960's when danced by the then London Festival Ballet (Now the English National Ballet) I had forgotten how spectacular it was. However it is only at its best when all the Corp and Solo work is neat and kept in line. Otherwise it looks v ery messy. In other words "Keep together and in line folk" !!
Remember that this ballet, in one act orchester music, 46 minutes, has been composed by Knudåge Riisager, inspired by Czernys pianoetudes, in the late 1940es. Choreographer: Harald Lander (Czerny was not an orchestercomposer - and - i should think, dead at the time)
Watching this great performance makes me even more disappointed that I didn't get to see Michele Wiles dance the female lead in this ballet during the Met season as well on tour. I would loved to have seen how her superior techniques matched the technical demand of this ballet. Then, of course, there's Angel Corella, Marcelo Gomes and David Hallberg for the male leads. Thanks for posting this!
They principals have no attack, no magic no excitement...go look at the old film of the Royal Danish that was made for tv if you want to see this ballet danced brilliantly..or ABT's excerpts from tv years ago. Typical of today, everybody is lazy and have none of the dynamite of the old dances.
I remember seeing ABT perform this many years ago with Bujones and Tcherkassky in the leads and they were much more inspiring. Crisp attack and flawless technique from principals, soloists and the corps.

They do, ddoban, i love the best París national opera AND Bolshoi, both on YT.
MAGNIFICENT! This is what dance is all about!
I've never seen this before: absolutely delightful. Love it . The company looks great.

Memorable preformance attractive artists
ABT did it in the 60sas a comic ballet and it was delightful! I would love to see this version again.
Huh?
I saw ABT's Etudes at the City Center in the early 70s. Not the least bit "comic."
@ddoban Actually, this ballet was in the repertoire of the National Ballet of Canada,
I wish they would bring it back!

Etudes is COMPOSED by Knudåge Riisager, orchestral one akt of 46 minutes length, inspired by Czernys Piano etudes
beautifully done, stylish, accomplished and inspiring - but for pure joy and pure Russian passion, Tereshkina, Sarafanov and Shklyarov are supreme
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@MrNocco You are absolutely right. :-)
@adballet this is still good ;)
In answer to 4GPR : I now remembered .The music is by Czerny. Surely the Hollywood machine is not using such greatness on his lowsy movies.,
The muskc isby Knud Aage Riisager
Please put in the COMPOSERS name as well as the balletmasters name: Composed by Knudåge Riisager, CHoreography by Harald Lander
Composed by Czerny, but arranged for orchestra by Riisager (just to make sure everyone gets due credit)
@@dancinmiriam8165 This is not true. Knudåge Riisager composed the music inspired by Czernys etudes.
Who is the dancer in 5:32????
Who is sthe music by ?
Composers Knudage Riisager
125 år siden KNUDÅGE RIISAGERs fødsel i dag, den 6. marts 2022. HURRA!!!!
Leonid Sarafanov beats everybody.
music from czerny destroyed by riisager
Music composed by Knudåge Riisager after inspiration from Czernys etudes.
Poor technique. Children's ballet schools sometimes are better
You obviosly know nothing about ballet
@@hrxify I put it wrong. Some dancers in the video are close to perfection, but the others spoil and ruin the picture. The troupe is not even.
@@hrxify I just expressed my visual impression of the performance. I DO apologize if I insulted you or somebody else.
