The best thing about the Paris Metro is that the stations are first announced as a question and then as an answer like: "Cité?" - "Cité." 😁. Unfortunately, this is missing in this video.

Vienna now has a different announcers, Budapest has changed, Berlin the line got extended, and for Stockholm, that's just a manual driver announcement.

    • @RockstarRomania

And Bucharest has a Text To Speech announcement system for line M5. While not as good compared to the actual human announcer (who's name isn't even know to this day, after 15 years since the recordings), it's definitely far better than what I expected. Especially when compared to the atrocious TTS used in Frankfurt am Main.

    17 March 2019, Palermo, Sicily.
My favourite here is the Wien announcement because it starts with very good-sounding bells (not cheap and feeble computer sounds like those of Prague, Berlin, Barcelona and Budapest ) and a very clear speaker's voice.

  • @mysteriumvitae5338

The Berlin one is already outdated :D It is from the U5 line at the time it used to end at Alexanderplatz, which is no longer the case. It goes further downtown to Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) now. Also, there is no real airport of Tegel any more (but there certainly is nostalgia). But hey, who cares? The announcement still is a historical document now. And the spirit of Berlin subway announcements probably hasn't changed much.

I recently went to Berlin and I don't remember any announcements like that in Alexanderplatz. Normally, the announcement would say (in German): Terminus, please exit the train. At a station changing lines, it would say: Alexanderplatz. Change here for the U-Bahn lines 8, 2, 4 and the S-Bahn line 6 (for example).

    • @blueslime4103

Those soviet trains were obsolote already in 1970, they copied old 30s German metro cars and those original german ones from 30s were actually better 😀 I've just saw a documentary about Prague metro and they say that our technicians had to do around 150 improvements on these trains to make it at least somehow work and follow our safety rules and other rules and electronics was really obsolete already in 70s, there were cables with cotton isolation or with no isolation at all, that's really like something from 30s. Whole bridge had to be reinforced because of these super heave soviet trains, we didn't count with them from the start, so bridge was constructed for our planned light metro, but project was sabotated because of political reasons, testing trains had magical accidents and it was "solved" by accepting soviet trains, you know how it works in communism..... 😀

Spain has territory in Africa, so is it an african country? France has territory in Latin America, does it make it any different?
Europeans with their colonialism don't have a right to lecture others or claim moral highground. Belgian Congo? British slave trade? French colonialism? German militarism? Spanish conquest of New World? Scramble for Africa?
But yeah, surely Russia is 'much worse'.

    • @YannickGB

Metrobus are certain bus lines with higher-capacity vehicles and shorter headways than other bus lines. They often connect U-Bahn (subway) and S-Bahn (rapid transit) stations along their route. The Berlin Metrotram serves routes where no connection to U-Bahn or S-Bahnis available, instead of service with buses, it is a tramway system. Together, both Metrobus and Metrotram serve as an addition to the existing U-Bahn and S-Bahn lines.

This video is about metros and not politics but....According to Marx and Engels the state is abolished in communism so therefore there's never been any "communist" states in Eastern Europe (or in the world for that matter). The new so called "communist" regimes that replaced the old monarchies and/or semi fascist goverments/dictators in the East just continued the old dictatorship under a new name, there were hardly any communism there.
