What kind of mounts does he use to record his skiing ?

GoPro: From the Balls of Ted Ligety
This is crazy! You don't realise with these athletes going in crazy speeds they are so close to death and injury just to get fastest time. Very impressive!
+Tarik Abbas yes, this is way crazier than F1 racing.. ask schumy lol
My speed record was 117 km/h on an empty piste and when i needed to break at that speed i couldn't walk for 2 weeks
@@LuffyL-ch1ku I know it's an old comment but...what do you mean? You couldn't walk for 2 weeks due to falling and injuring yourself? Or fatiguing? I used to do fair amount of alpine ski racing from 2009 to 2011 and went over that speed many times, breaking didn't feel that bad even on longer, sturdier, heavier and more difficult to turn Super-G skis.
@@staszewaM I had knee problems back then and when I tried to break a lot of shocks and weight fell on my knees. I could still walk but it was very troublesome anf had to do it with almost stretched knees.
The only way to win is to keep your knees strait on the turns. If one ski edge catches a divit or some soft snow, that’s when you get those nasty crashes. So it’s a lot of luck in the run conditions too. That’s why I always tried to go first… before the run got torn up.
I started skiing just 50 days ago, at 28 years old... I've always liked this sport, but I never had the occasion to learn it with someone else before... Now that I tried it, I can really say these athletes are completely crazy!
Doing all that going 90 mph too
greetings, I started this year at 29!
I could do without all the special effects and the goddamned sound design. It's awesome on its own without any need to sex it up.
herrbrahms exactly I just wonna watch these guys go down the mountain this is like a video game edit
I think it's to replicate the adrenaline rush and getting in "the zone" - when I'm locked in skiing downhill, it definitely feels like time slows and I'm one with my ski. I kinda like it
EXACTLY!!! Like I don’t mind the music as long as I can hear the skis, but I mean come on. It’s not a commercial.
@@barakbacharach9491 While it might be part of the reason, I think they were trying to show the occurance of zoning out due to extreme fatigue, since the blood from your head is going to your bigger, hardest working muscle parts (mostly legs), which happens on longer downhills, especially in Wengen- you can hear Bode Miller talk about it in the material about Lauberhorn- 'Lauberhorn: The Essence of Downhill Ski Racing | ISOS012'.
Dads oldery forkis pro!
2:20 It's amazing how difficult it is even to see where the next gate is with all the vibration! Those skiers are super-human for sure!
Poly Hexamethyl It’s harder to see the next gate on the camera but in real life there is less vibrations and it’s easier to see
The most underrated sport in the world. The physical toll put on the body is unreal, even without injury. It’s incredibly dangerous and difficult. You’re competing against yourself mentally, the mountain, and finally other skiers.
AWESOME THANK YOU...SEEING IT ON TV AND THIS WOW YOU GUYS ARE ROCKSTARS....
Seriously enjoying watching the championships. Love that they are in my hometown.
that motion blure made it look so awesome in the end
Thanks for all the crazy runs king
Go pro's leaked new product. Crotch cam c;
I can think of one industry that would go nuts over that. pun intended.
JBtheExplorer The squirrel industry.
I think they already have that
flagged for misleading title.
TOOL!!
That blurred effect is ultra-dope.
***** I mean starting at 2:30 when the background sound starts to fade away and environment starts to blur out.
As I watched this, I listened to Tangerine Dream, Melrose. Nice sync.
Gotta Love a Crazy Perspective! Gotta Love GoPro!!
I never realized how fast it was
Is there a link to a continuous shin-cam shot of his run?
dude this video is so well done
100 балов, за режиссёрскую работу
кто За?
Noval Channel я
Noval yup!
Such a well made video. Intense.
1:50 Вид от первого яйца... Ой... лица.. Снято здорово...
breathtaking
Looks like Copper Mountain Colorado. The skiing public skis on those runs, just much slower!!
The sound effects are really why Im watching this video
so sick, dude straight bookin' it
wow!!! that was wonderful good job God bless you.
Look at Control of his skis... Masterclass...!
Beautiful
I've actually slipped a course on that exact hill at copper -- its their training track, and its STEEP like you wouldn't believe
Filmed at Copper Mountain in Colorado.
Wow! Great video :-)
dear gopro please upload videos in 60 fps that would be awsome
absolutely frightening!
Still no 60fps videos? :|
Sounds like a jet plane ... holy crap tv makes it look 40mph... they doing over 85mph insane insane insane ...after 20 yrs watching i bow more to these insane athletes..
Stupid question?
I race super g/dh but is that "blurry" a GoPro created effect after 2:30 or is that what Super Ted is seeing for real? I've never seen that but of course I am not Super Ted and he's likely in a dimension I haven't met if that is what he's seeing at 80mph plus. I would not doubt it b/c he and others on FIS DH/Super G level are not human. Loved this vid. Right on!
Это нечто! Красиво снято!
Is this a good beginner trail?
wich Copter do you use for the air filming? i think its the DJI Phantom 2 with Zenmuse 2D-3D Gimbal? :)
I think you are totally right :)
Geeziz that's crazy fast.
I'm watching here on video and I'm poopin' my pants..
I so miss doing this stuff. Sigh.
Insane
Man I wish he had done this video on a GS run...
This was filmed at copper
was this copper mountain?
My top speed was 117 km/h and i have a knee problem thing, when i had to break at that speed i couldn't walk for 2 weeks but i was so damn happy about my speed i didn't care lol the ski piste was empty and it was like 5 km long but i did it in like 6 mins and when i looked at my speed app it said 117 km/h imagine going at equal speed as a car on the highroad but without an aluminum cage around you
Awesome
Does someone know how does he mounted the GoPro on his leg?
The only sport more dangerous than F1 Racing... Ask Schumy
Kasmin1 Gd &n more Yes but I don't think it's even more dangerous than this
Diego V what about tt racing, more dangerous than both of them put together
Was that copper mountain
AWSOME.................
That shit is crazy how fast is he going
GoPro's 1,000 video!
how fast is he going?
can you tell me what is first song? i can found this in youtube pls
That wasnt his eyes...
They meant he's pov
Me thinks the "lower" camera was sponsored by Doc Johnson, lol.
i was the 1 millionth view!!!
You are so cool
aaaaaaaaand speed of light :D
why the blur?
Too many edits, special effects, and the go-pro camera angles were almost worthless. Too bad, as it's a super-cool concept and Ligety is awesome.
Marcel hirscher is THE BEST SKIER IN THE WORLD
He’s good but ligity could be better
Sgouldnt t his video have like 10 milion instead of 700k
I now have more respect for this sport
Holes in the snow? Why?
awesome awesome awesOME
Unnecessary blurring effect. Ted's already going warp speed.
Ракета !!!
Was the whoosh wen passing flags added
Well if you were here for actual skiing, it starts at 1:30
Why you didin't record ted in a giant slalom? I mean he is god in GS not even top 10 in downhill and super-g...
god no longer
last season he was unbeatable - there's a new GS god this season around
how fast is this ? in km/h ?
I'd say top speed is about 130-140km/h
GoPro: From the titanium balls of Ted Ligety
Right. Almost like a real course.
All cut, processed etc... I guess the raw GoPRO footage was crap so they had to spice it up. Wish I could see the actual run without gimmicks...
That’s good but i would have preferred the camera not change every second
lol i thought i was hearing my own heartbeat at the end
There is way too much film cutting, and there is way too much screwing around before the skiing starts.
More like "From the Crotch of Ted Ligety"...
Jokes aside, cool video!!
Holy shit that’s fast 😮
Actually the video starts at 1:36
Dont they ever fall while doing this? i dont think one can survive if that happens
Vachagan Balayan Yeah they do fall, fortunately most of them survive
sick
Cool ...
The sound effects going past the gates was super cheesy.
From hui of Ted Ligety
nice
Why does he need that many sets of skis? (@ 2:42)
Duh, he's a ski racer, but why do you need 8 pairs of the exact same skis? I can understand having 3 pairs or something as back ups/practice sets, but bringing as many skis as he has with him everywhere has to be a pain in the ass.
Grant Hilti I guess he has different skis for different disciplines and different conditions.
Grant Hilti
He's professional. He should fight for every second and millisecond during the race. Different models of skis are good for certain types of tracks.
Also waxing (You saw the men doing this in the video with special iron) the skis is extremely important because each wax should be applied for certain condition of snow and weather, so he might have different types of wax on different skis to test and choose the best for the next competition.
Like thenguy above said for waxing, but also each one probably has a different angled edge, so depending whether its icy, or powdery, he'll choose which pair he wants.
That's just Product placement of HEAD. You only need one pair of great skis per discipline in my opinion.
Cool
Next time you can put cameras on the snow too during the descent
Check out my GoPro channel too ;)
какие скорости они развивают?
До 120 км/ч
sFomix до 140 км/ч, в Сочи было больше 130
"from the chest of" more like
From the eyes - should've been wearing some Pivothead glasses, or such.
I'm the 995k view! What about you!? :)
Wow
Don’t do unnecessary thing. I want to see a footage taken from the skier’s head from start to finish. This is the silliest clip I’ve ever seen.
So much pathos
***** how to do title in 1:10 - 1:16 ?
Thanks
Opako!
