give viper a group of archers and he will outmicro everything give viper a group of regenerating super accurate hero archers with built in ballistics and they will die immediately
I don't know about ballistics, but the Archer of the Eyes unit effectively has Thumb Ring built in. In Age of Kings, thumb ring wasn't available to anyone, so they were pretty good units to have.
well he might assume the AI has 3k+ starting resources or scripted unit generation, so raiding them would be a great idea turns out the AI still need to collect resources
I love how with each mission some people are like "Viper, you're gonna struggle with the next one!" These campaign levels are complete child's play for him. He is the best AoE player in the world, after all.
yes but he lost Joan of arc in the second game (one second too much!)! (^_-) So, careful with scenarios: in the siege of Paris i heard even from him a lot of "ho no!" When you don't know anything about the map and triggers, it's not so easy and some scenarios are much easier than others and you can miss something! The main rule for me is: scout as much as possible to understand the trick faster as possible to not be distracted by useless strat (there's always a trick, even without cheating because of some bugs)! The most difficult scenario of all for me is probably the Gengis Kahn scenario against China (you are late (no town at all in the begining and feudal age while they are at start in castle), lower in civ and tech, pop, buildings, ressources, army (EVERYTHING in fact (the only scenario in aoe2)!) and against 5 allied enemies with a sea and the great wall of china with towers since the begining: very difficult in hard (or very hard in ancient ai) level). I can't wait for it (i bet he will lose the first time, without being aware of what he must do and face (i will certainly not say it here and DON'T do it as he demands! Thank you in advance friends, i just want to tease his best attention when he will come to it and not to lose because of too much confidence!))!
@running287 you're right, apparently: really amazing micro and multitask (not so surprising for a world champion of the game), but the good point for him: no hero to save, no special trigger, he was advantaged by habbits of multiplayer game and this time he scouted well if i remember well, which was precisely a difficult map to do it, because of great wall and sea mentioned but also rivers. But still, first time I was impressed by his playing in campaigns and I said it in comment section of the video. I can explain that paradox by the fact that when you start in easy conditions, you start to be too confident and make mistakes, it was the opposite here and I warned here it will be difficult (he can thank me for that, so).
I find it amazing that not only do you beat these missions on your first go, your completion times are often bordering on speedrun territory even though you have no clue what's out there lol.
Hey viper, I noticed you have difficulty remembering what techs you have. A good rule of thumb is that you have all the techs of the age before the one you started in. So you have bloodlines which is a feudal tech but not ballistics, which is a castle tech. This is true for MOST scenarios.
Also, in singleplayer scenarios, the game pauses when looking at the Tech Tree, so you can look at it to see which techs are ressearched and which are not.
Yes, your early raid killed them outright. For the two Teutons, you cut out the gold and they stopped doing knights, they make a lot of gold units, so its natural they die once that's no more. Jerusalem died the moment you killed the vills outside. They have only their Starting town-center in the middle of the map and all of their resources are on the edge of the map and in the mean time your eco never really got touched. It's almost like a practice scenario where you can practice raiding on multiple sides. I really want to see how you do the next one, not much to raid there but the multitask would be nice to watch. =)
It sure was epic how right in the middle of the siege of Jerusalem, Saladin ordered his villagers to construct farms outside the city, taunting the templars.
lol some of these seem laughably easy when you do it because you raid the ever loving hell out of the AI. Didn't realize how exploitable it was in these situations.
Played that a couple of days ago on hard. I needed so many tries, haha. Never had so much trouble before on a campaign (except for the african queen one, the one where she must link up at the end - no speedrun allowed).
Stenkrm but the mission is to build the wonder. I know its a strat to just wipe the enemies from the start, but personally I enjoy doing the mission correctly before "cheating" and take advantage of the AI :)
Great stuff as usual. I really hope you'll follow through and actually complete and upload all of the missions as you said, because I've seen it so many times that people set out to do a playthrough or something similar and then quit halfway through. The campaigns in this game is very well made and I've enjoyed playing them myself several times, and it would be fantastic to have you play them all as I find your commentary and gameplay very enjoyable! Much love Viper, you're #clearly the best aoe youtuber
Will be interesting to see how he goes in the AK campaigns. Then the heavy raiding goes from heavily crippling the enemy to giving them a heap more free units. Being Viper, he'll probably be fine, but it might change the playstyle a bit.
The scenario is way harder when you don't raid the yellow and orange quickly. I boomed and despite having a good military, blue was sending cataphracts and yellow and orange were massing Teutonic knights. They weren't a huge threat when I had 4 castles with ballistics, chemistry and murder holes in my base. But blue was sending pikes and arbalests to defend himself. So that was a bit hard. The fun part was the master templar's death quote. Star Wars reference.
I noticed that too! "If you strike me down, I will grow more powerful than you can possibly imagine!". Shame the viper was too much of a noob not to slay him.
I'm really exited for the next two mission. Til this point I was able to beat the scenarios at hard difficulty as well. But the last two Saladin missions always wrecked me.
I think your archers had balistic. Sometimes you start with units that can't be upgraded but already have some upgrades : couldn't it be the case here ?
Viper, if you wan a challenge out of the Saladin campaign, play the 6th scenario on defense - no going out and killing them in their bases. As you might'a noticed, they're kinda bad at re-booming up
Hey Viper, thank you so much for the campaign videos, I'm really enjoying them! I had a question about unit choice, though: what prompted you to build camels to support your mameluks instead of arbalests? Thanks
Hey Viper, do you think you could remember to show all the achievements at the end of these videos? Even just a couple of seconds per tab (we can pause). I always like to look at them after any game that I watch. Thanks! Loving seeing you play the campaigns. :)
You must keep saying "Oh No", it's part of your awareness sistem! That's why you did't pass to finals in the tournament. Actually you should call your twitch suscriptors ohno's :)
Okay sure, thanks for the replies, I am acting like a complete noob. I didn't realise there was no very hard on the campaign; thought it would be similar to multiplayer!
Mission 1: introduction, even my grandma can pass it. Mission 2: he walled a passage through wich should be an army that could have destroyed him. That was so crutial that his allies bugged and were screaming that their trade charts were being attacked constantly. Luck. Mission 3: lucky scouting with cav. archers. Bugged the AI that didnt know what to do. Lucky and not fair. Mission 4: just as he said, effective raiding with imba archers that dont miss shots and regen hit point and AI not being that smart. 99% luck, 1% skill. Cmon we all undesrtood that he's clearly a beginner. I'll see how you pass next one, you lucky reptile. Huh...
Archer of the Eyes: "Shots from our bows rarely miss their mark."
Biper: "Why are they so accurate?"
Biper.
Probably the same reason crossbows, javelineers and ballista ships are improved by bracers and thumb rings
instablaster
give viper a group of archers and he will outmicro everything
give viper a group of regenerating super accurate hero archers with built in ballistics
and they will die immediately
just one
LOL
"I was expecting much more units inside." Well, after Paris, you were right to have expectations.
*scouts with sheep*
"OHHHH STEALING MY SHEEP EH?"*
Those lamers!
lamb-ers
16:05 'Help! The Saracens are attacking our trade routes!'
ZSide33 😂😂
Reynald de Chatellon may be dead, but his legacy continues ...
Watch the next video for more updates!
Archers of the Eyes representate the famous Nubian Archers, and have Ballistics and great accuracy by default.
Viper - the only person who would rather swear than say oh no.
oh fucking no!
Zhewaxen such a kind person theViper
I don't know about ballistics, but the Archer of the Eyes unit effectively has Thumb Ring built in. In Age of Kings, thumb ring wasn't available to anyone, so they were pretty good units to have.
The Viper forgetting the Teutonic conversation resistance and losing monks to Knights repeatedly was great.
True, the Knight Templar were known to be quiet, really didn't enjoy conversation
conversation resistance didn't know that's a thing.
Vipers raiding is just to sick for for the campaign. The scenario was not able to work like it was meant to be :D
Poor disapointed Viper
well he might assume the AI has 3k+ starting resources or scripted unit generation, so raiding them would be a great idea
turns out the AI still need to collect resources
Oh yeah, new Saladin map! Time to see how long the arbalest looking heroes can stay undercover and/or die.
Wow that was quick.
Oh no!
Haha and they're still dying. Never change, viper.
I love how with each mission some people are like "Viper, you're gonna struggle with the next one!" These campaign levels are complete child's play for him. He is the best AoE player in the world, after all.

Early theory: Viper destroys a monastery.
Surprisingly he didn't. But not as surprising as some heroes being alive at the end.
I find it amazing that not only do you beat these missions on your first go, your completion times are often bordering on speedrun territory even though you have no clue what's out there lol.
profession comes with mastery.
Saladin: "Oh no" edition will come next, in 5th and 6th mission :D
Hey viper, I noticed you have difficulty remembering what techs you have. A good rule of thumb is that you have all the techs of the age before the one you started in. So you have bloodlines which is a feudal tech but not ballistics, which is a castle tech. This is true for MOST scenarios.
Yeah, it does that automatically. It makes it very difficult to making branching tech trees in mods.
Also, in singleplayer scenarios, the game pauses when looking at the Tech Tree, so you can look at it to see which techs are ressearched and which are not.

accually a good idea for an brutto-18-year-of-playing-aoe2-noob
Been waiting for this the whole day :D
You'll probably enjoy 3.5 and 3.6 a lot more!
It sure was epic how right in the middle of the siege of Jerusalem, Saladin ordered his villagers to construct farms outside the city, taunting the templars.
I'm sooo thrilled about the next mission!!for me it was the hardest mission in the game.can't wait to see how you are going to play it
I wait everyday to watch these campaigns. Thank you Viper.
lol some of these seem laughably easy when you do it because you raid the ever loving hell out of the AI. Didn't realize how exploitable it was in these situations.
I always just camped up and let the enemy boom while i teched up and buildt up my army. Obviously I should have done some more early raiding :D
and finished 3 hours later lol
Nooooo!!! He missed the Star Wars reference... T_T
YahiroYamaha Where ?
Cosmin N There's one after killing the Master of the Templar, but he finished the level before killing him.
which one?
something the master of the templar says when dies?
kasasPoxo Yeah.
"If you strike me down, I will grow more powerful than you can possibly imagine,"
Don't worry. You will face a real challange in 6th mission. Even the Siege of Paris is nothing compared to that.
Biper 2stronk ;)
NO HINTS! Seriously, he's already said it before, Viper doesn't want any help whatsoever.
And the 5th mission isn't a walk in the park either.
Great stuff as usual. I really hope you'll follow through and actually complete and upload all of the missions as you said, because I've seen it so many times that people set out to do a playthrough or something similar and then quit halfway through. 25:54 Cool, you applied my tip of the day I gave you for the last video!
:D
the AI's in campains are special and have build orders. if you raid that hard they wont get to build up and wont even do their interactive stuff
Will be interesting to see how he goes in the AK campaigns. Then the heavy raiding goes from heavily crippling the enemy to giving them a heap more free units. Being Viper, he'll probably be fine, but it might change the playstyle a bit.

Standard Viper Scenario: (Spends 20 minutes preparing for a massive attack)
(Actually completes mission in 5 minutes)
#FreePalestine
lol
Zé do Crô yes, the Muslims need another jihad to liberate Israel
Wind sneaking in through the walls and floors of your house = "draft".
"There's a draft coming in from the window." :)
I wanna see the "Oh No" compilation Part 2 :)
You still say it, just less frequently ;)
After you beat the standard game campaigns you should try some of the community created campaigns on Steam. They're amazing!
This one is rather easy. Next one too. The last map is where it's at :)
(and Horns of Hattin, if you don't haxx it)
Now try winning it while also destroying the monasteries ;)
I'm really exited for the next two mission. Til this point I was able to beat the scenarios at hard difficulty as well. But the last two Saladin missions always wrecked me.
These are fun to watch
If that is all you hear from this crazy wind that is pretty good.
I should go to bed -
New Viper video 12 min ago.
Oh wait nevermind.
I have no likes
I hope the next one will be harder. It's fun to see TheViper sweat from the cruel AI with annoying micro.
Viper, did you actually turn off teh alignment grid and stuff to make the Campaigns look more pretty? :)
Yes :$
You missed the Easter Egg... If you kill the Master of the Templar, he says something interesting :P
Pray for the peace of Jerusalm
Hey viper what do you think of Lierreys performance in EGM2 ?
where r lierreys campaign vids?
Larry is getting gud
I think your archers had balistic. Sometimes you start with units that can't be upgraded but already have some upgrades : couldn't it be the case here ?
I was disappointed, too when I played mission 4. But mission 5 and 6 will be more interesting. I'm looking forward to see you playing them.
Viper...The 6th mission is the *hard* one. The most difficult in the entire original Age of Kings Campaign.
Viper, if you wan a challenge out of the Saladin campaign, play the 6th scenario on defense - no going out and killing them in their bases. As you might'a noticed, they're kinda bad at re-booming up
I apologize for saying that the last mission was bugged. It's true that the scouting caused it. I didn't mean to detract from your skill.
I mean... if some scouting can bypass the enemy triggers that sounds pretty bugged to me.
More of a glitch I think, but eh.
I honestly find 5th mission harder then 6th. But this mission viper made look so easy.
This one was kind of boring to be honest. Probably should stop raiding so much that early to make it more interesting.
You should play on moderate because for some weird reason moderate attack more frequent than hard at least how i remember 15 years ago.
Viper has some history with sheeps who aren't there, so he will never allow it anymore.
27:35 Rest in pieces in pieces?
Age of Kings Campaings are the best, but low pop limit is annoying
No comment here: bravo!
If you strike me down i will become more powerful than you can ever imagine
Hey Viper, thank you so much for the campaign videos, I'm really enjoying them!
I had a question about unit choice, though: what prompted you to build camels to support your mameluks instead of arbalests?
Thanks
I destroyed all towers but i did not win, why?
Hey viper there's a small typo in the description; it says saldin instead of saladin somewhere. Great Video by the way
Dear Viper, what do you think about SpiritOfTheLaw's aoe2 videos?
Jihad is not that hard (compared to 3rd Mongols mission) but I think last 6th Saracen mission is harder.
gangiskhan, saladin,prithivie raj
just FYI, some scenarios have higher population limit than 75 (not sure if it counted for this one tho)
The original Age of Kings scenarios had a pop limit of 75
Oh I see, AoK and AoC campaings tend to blend to one mess with me.
I had them coming at me every second.
Something with your throat Viper?
for the next scenario i challenge you to win defeating the Yellow and the blue, try to keep Orange alive
te amo viper seguí asi
Yes, viper, Jihad! is hard
Crusade Version: We Will Take Jerusalem!
Saracen Version: We Will *SIEGE* Jerusalem!
i spend a full day to complete on mission
WTF Biper, making us wait while you turned down the heater. Unacceptable... Kappa
waiting for more
love the awkward laugh in the beginning :))
If you don't raid Jerusalem makes more units.
how you talk and do all that....
First crused crsit cruseder when seep bring
Nice job! I find myself compulsively reaching for my mouse.
But oggay and crockrges inside out.
18:58 Viper is german confirmed? :o
Master of the Templar: "(When killed) If you strike me down, I will grow more powerful than you can possibly imagine."

19:00 : Bitte !! :D
Second crused
Wallace=Richard
I hate this fucking mission, i wish i knew how to rush lol.
"Jihad!" is so annoying to play
The correct name is Salah-uddin Ayyubi......
gogogooooooooo
You need to play on very hard, these are far too easy for a player of your skill!
not an option
oh really? Do you need to have completed it first?
No, but he plays it on HD, where the AI and difficulties are different, so the highest option is just Hard
there is no very hard on campaign unfortunately :(
Okay sure, thanks for the replies, I am acting like a complete noob. I didn't realise there was no very hard on the campaign; thought it would be similar to multiplayer!
@tyrant_theviper pls, you can say OH NO as much as you want. If anything, the "I'll try not to say it" is annoying, not the oh no itself :)
Mission 1: introduction, even my grandma can pass it.
Mission 2: he walled a passage through wich should be an army that could have destroyed him. That was so crutial that his allies bugged and were screaming that their trade charts were being attacked constantly. Luck.
