My Lady of the House routines take minimal time every day. But I find my husband peeking around corners to see what I am up to. This is delightful!
When I first heard that getting ready everyday makes it so “you’re ready for anything” I was hooked. It can be easy to think “I’m not going anywhere so why do it!?” The bare minimum became the norm. I am watching this video as I'm getting ready for a very casual sports awards ceremony for my son. I recently had two surgeries and I'm wearing a brace so my wardrobe is limited to what I can wear and what is comfortable. I had a particular top picked out and you inspired me to hang it back up and put on a much dressier top. Thank you Nikki for the inspiration, it was much needed for me.
I hear you there. I had a major (10+ hours!) surgery a few years ago. Afterwards, I had SIX drains sticking out of me all over. I could not wear jeans, leggings, skirts, or dresses due to wear they all were. I had to wear PJs and my husband's old button-down shirts. I could hardly walk or even stand. I got SO. MANY. FOUL. I usually have a scone with it. It makes me feel good to use them..😊 it’s kinda like wearing silk pajamas once you wear them you can’t wear anything else…
Thank You for another wonderful video Nikki! My Mom used to tell me that when I felt blah or not up to par to dress in my favorite outfit and that would help my day. Sure enough it usually did! So important to dress in clothes that make us feel good!

Wonderful and beautifully spoken video, Nikki!🙏🏻💐I am so excited to greet soon my new copies of your volume 1 and my "something blue" planner! I have been following you for so many years and I was so proud of you, a sister in Christ, when you first were published. I am so excited because I recently got married and we have our apartment. I was so happy that I was finally able to be "the lady of the house." (Mind you, you don't have to be married to have your own home, but this was particular to my experience). Love you, Nikki! And praying for your continued success!👗❤👜
I’m so happy for you and really glad you find value in these videos. Thank you for your encouragement and truly hope your new books bring you joy in the everyday🌹
Hello Nikki. We have such similar taste. My home is floral, pastels with French inspiration. I too wear pretty feminine dresses every day. I have never ever owned trousers or jeans. I have just ordered your book, Inspirations. God bless you and your beautiful family. X❤️
I need to start picking out my outfit the day before. My husband sleeps during the day cuz he works at night so I try to stay out of my room most of the day , that kind of prevents me from getting ready as much. I definitely want to start wearing dresses and adding more jewelry.
I have been there! Years ago, I set up all of my getting ready necessities outside the bedroom so I didn't have excuses NOT to do this for myself. When I had an at home daycare, I would get dressed and then do my hair and makeup In the downstairs bathroom while breakfast cooked and the littles arrived. We even had a little "get ready" ritual.

I understand to each their own, but why not just a "work dress" you can use for the garden AND yard work. Why two different ones? Does the gardening one get much dirtier than the yard work?
@@Jules-740 because I garden some days and do yard work other days and I like to dry my dresses in the fresh air, so it's helpful to have one for one thing and another for the other thing. I also find that my blue dress is more comfortable to garden in and it doesn't show our red clay dirt as much as my gray yard work one does. My blue garden one is also about 3 inches shorter than my gray yard work one and I seem to be messier in the garden with all that fresh loose soil, my shorter hem doesn't get so grungy. I will of course wear it to go to the store or lunch after the chiropractor, but that is always the dress I wear for a visit. I also have one I wear for travel because it's just comfortable to sit in and it never gets wrinkly or rumpled looking.
Same here! This is also why I've started wearing aprons more often and am slowly building my collection. I want some for outdoor work and some for indoor work. Separate ones for baking, cooking, light housework, etc. I just bought one to take to my in-laws so that I have one when we visit. The last time we were there, I accidentally splattered blood (cutting open meat) on my brand new dress and favorite cardigan. Had I been wearing an apron, that wouldn't have happened. The stains came out, thankfully, but not the point. My MIL doesn't understand this. Neither does my BFF. Nor do they want to. My husband does, however, and wholeheartedly supports me in this.

It serves well enough to run rugs to the Laundromat and for cleaning the laundry/mud room, but it has faded and while it once was my favorite for running to town in, it needs to stay home these days.
I love your dress in this video, and all the various shades of blue in your closet. It's so cohesive and elegant, and sets off your eyes and hair. Have a lovely weekend!
I have the Lady of the house volume 1 it’s a wealth of beautiful writings. 💖 It’s so true about dressing for the day, you feel put together and also that whatever comes your way you are prepared in a lovely way. Thank you Nikki ❤
I love your bedroom. My grandma has many of the same items like your white chest of drawers. She keeps her jewelry in it. And yes, she has enough jewelry to fill every drawer.
What a wonderful video!😊 I highly appreciate your take on how dressing up and having a beautiful presentation is actually a way to appreciate both ourselves, people around us and our Creator. That it makes us FEEL better. It really is like you said, that when we have spent a couple of minutes with this in the beginning of the day, we do not have to give so much thought to it during the day. We are free to concentrate on the other things, like people around us. If I have not "pulled myself together" in the morning I find myself worrying and wondering many times during the day if I look shabby, looking at the mirror much more often, being stressed if the doorbell rings... I am thinking far too much my appearance if have not given it that little bit of time early on. I love the way you talk about "put on love", the most important of it all❤ God bless you, Nikki!
Hi Nikki, Well I had something to return to Ross so I was there at 9:00 on Saturday and found this to be such a good time to shop there. It was so easy to go through the store. You have really opened up my eyes to shopping there. They really do have a wonderful purse selection. I love all the dresses you purchased and love that you are showing your viewers!
I just love you! You inspire me so much. You are beautiful. I wish I could hire someone to come and organize and declutter my house with me to make it a true elegant lady’s home. I struggle with ADD and I really try to make it beautiful, but haha it’s as star-filled and creative as my brain. 😂
How we dress affects how we act. Growing up, I went to Catholic school & had to wear a uniform. Every once in a while, we had "grub day" fundraisers where you buy a ticket to wear jeans, which back then couldn't have tears, unlike today. Anyway, on those "grub days" there was a definite difference in the behavior of the students. So, yes dressing up certainly makes a difference!!!
A school I substitute taught at had dress down Fridays instead of standard uniforms. The behavior was so much worse on Fridays that they got rid of the concept all together.
Hi Nikki, I love all your dresses. I admire the way you can find dresses at Ross. Maybe you can talk to us about how and when you shop at Ross because sometimes it can be challenging. A therapist once told me The Memory Of The Moment and how you want to be thought of and remembered so dressing lovely has such an impact.
Hi Nikki lovely video, l still dress up everyday , sometimes l go nowhere but in myself I feel clean and well put together, it absolutely makes the day better. Lovely seeing Lady and she has grown so much absolutely gorgeous. Thanks Nikki love your dress. ❤❤
Oh my....I didn't get home from the YMCA until noon and still need to go out for a walk on this drizzly day, so had decided to just stay in my workout clothes (which i rarely do) but decided after my walk, I will definitely fix myself up. You do inspire me; I just need to remember your lessons each day.
Thanks Nikki So lovely and exquisite Your videos really inspired me so much during the years. I can even say that my life is now much better, like an upgrade. Dresses are my uniform thanks to you, dear 👗 and so are nude ballerinas How can I thank you enough for all that you share with the world?
Thank ypu Nikki, you reied to my query about chores and dresses last time in the comments. I have got a few dresses now that are day dresses and ok for house cleaning, but im also put together ❤️ thank you x
I love dressing up everyday. I have loved it since I was a kid. I used to watch my mom get dressed every morning. I remember all the moms at the school were dressed nicely growing up and always had on nice jewelry and perfume. I’m a stay at home mother to a toddler now and when we go to play dates at the library or park all the other moms are literally wearing pajamas. I feel like I don’t really fit in with the other moms :/ Just curious to if anyone else has this problem or am I not going to the right play dates?
The way women dress now is sadly another symbol of the degradation of our society. I honestly am shocked and disgusted how some people choose to leave their home! Always rise above, dress and act with class. It will be noticed…and appreciated by the ones that matter!☺️
I like to dress nicely. I heard some people were calling me “prissy girl”. I found it really hurtful as I’m a humble, helpful person. We can’t change other people so please keep dressing nicely and be proud of yourself.
Since getting more into the Lady of the House method, I have reduced how often I wear jeans. Mostly because they are really uncomfortable when I compare it my dress pants. I am most comfortable in slacks (my favorite style icon for this is Kate Beckett from Castle. Her style is my inspiration everyday. And also the casual style of the 50s with the ankle pants, button shirt or blouse, with flats) I wear dresses more in the summer to keep cool. But now I view jeans as clothes to work in, specifically out in the garden or yard work. I am more comfortable in pants than dresses but I think you make it effortless to do it all in a dress. "Dressing up your heart." I love that.
Hello Nikki thank you for the video, it's encouraging. I try some of these things, but there is always room for improvement. I also start the day with reading the scriptures, I need that time to start the day.
Wonderful video, dressing for the day- and dressing up is so important for a ladies morale. On top of everything you said wearing a dress is so flattering to the woman’s figure. Most of us have things we would like to conceal especially as we age and I think wearing a dress does just that. I would take the silhouette of a dress any day over trying to squeeze into a pair of skinny jeans. I feel so much more confident. Thank you for providing such great content! 💕🌷
Wonderful video! I've been wearing dresses only for a years now and I love it. Makes everyday special. I really enjoy your videos and have enjoyed reading your book. Looking forward to volume 2.❤
Can you offer some advice on what to wear if you live in a cooler damp climate? I'm in Northern Ireland, in a cold older home and the thought of putting on a dress is lovely until I'm freezing. Thanks
I would definitely go for more fleece lined tights or leggings under a long sleeve sweater dress style and boots for going out if it's wet. Layering would be a must. I've seen it done but really haven't given it much thought as I deal with the opposite here in the desert 🌹
During cold weather, I layer my clothes: tank top base layer, 100% cotton blouse, cotton/wool button up sweater, long skirt, leggings, wool socks, leather flat boots and a coat with leather gloves, scarf, and hat. I’ve worn a Ralph Lauren style of clothing for decades and find it comfortable and warm. Best wishes, Julie 🌷
Hello Nikki, Would you please share with us how you schedule time for online and brick-mortar shopping for your dress collection; you have a large collection between all your color stories that equals…75…80? Thank you for giving us ideas on how to fit this into our lady of the home schedule.
My house is the same (southern England). I used to wear dresses when I went into the office, but, since I switched to permanent homeworking, it’s trousers and jumpers year round. I don’t love it.
Thank you for all your interesting and also beautiful videos. I follow your channel for years now and do find new inspiration and motivation in everyone of them. I am sad tha the the lady of the house is no longer available on amazon. I go back regularly in the hope of finding it to buy again🍀 All the best for you and your family🙏🏻 Greetings from Switzerland
I’m catching up on some videos I’ve missed and I see you have a puppy just like the one we got a couple months ago. Ours is male and potty training is not going so well! Hope yours is doing better than our guy.
I give you a lot of credit! I feel awkward in dresses. Make up and nail polish make me uncomfortable as well. I wear women's cloths. Just not dresses or skirts. I will wear mascara and lipstick for maybe a wedding.
When I grew up, we couldn’t wear pants to school so all I had was dresses and that’s all I wore till high school. I wish I wouldn’t of stopped wearing them every day. My mother wore dress every day and she did all the housework and had five kids.
You have a point. To dress up lift up you. In my country We don’t even dress up to parties. In the 80-ies We where well dressed even on workdays. But i never wear dresses because that was not the dresscode. It was suit. I am still a suitlady. I have never liked dresses. Not on me. But i like to see people in it. And i am also a hatlady. Has always Been and by Wearing a hat changes people attitude to me. They are more gentile and act more Correct towards me. It gives an elegant touch to it. So don’t forget the hat ladies! It Will make a difference! And i always wear makeup- i do it for myself- no others. Because i feel good after Done it.
Dear Nikki, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my admiration for your stunning choice in dresses, particularly the beautiful hues of blue that complement you so wonderfully. On a more solemn note, I humbly request your thoughts and prayers during this challenging time. My partner has recently been diagnosed with cancer, and it has been a profound journey for both of us. His condition requires a stem cell transplant, and as such, we are facing a long road ahead filled with scans and procedures. Your support, prayers, and positive energy would mean the world to us. Thank you in advance for your kindness and consideration. ❤ Susan

I have found that in the darkest hour of our life the light of God is shining even brighter. In the deepest sorrow His presence is closer than ever. Praying for healing to your spouse in Jesus mighty name. That His abundant life and love will fill both him and you. He is with you every moment, surrounding you with His love and carrying you on His strong arms❤ Lots of blessings to you both❤ Petra

@@susanvelez6534 Thsnk you, Susan, for taking the time to write such an uplifting reply. There is something very special when someone who is in the midst of a difficult trial is keeping their eyes on the Lord and even sharing something from their heart that is so encouraging. It was very touching to read. I will keep you both in my prayers as the Lord will remind me. He really is the unshakable, solid rock we can rest on when everything else is in chaos. My husband doesnt notice or care how i am dressed. But if i put on red lipstick he always compliment me. He just a sucker for red lipstick as i sometimes think - why don’t you use it yourself😝. And i think i have over 50 red lipsticks by now. And 20 nude ones. And if i Wear the nude lipstick- no reaction. Men are sometimes funny creatures
Those wings made me feel light as a feather while your comment weighed me down but only for the moment. I agree it’s not my most flattering dress but that’s not always the goal. After looking at this video while editing, I decided not to re-film just because my dress wings added some undesirable volume. It feels so good to be getting past the perfection I would once re-film over and over for as I anticipated the comments I could possibly get🌹
I admire how you respond to comments like this. Very inspiring to me. And, though my opinion doesn’t matter much, the dress you are wearing in this video I thought was very pretty. That is one of my first thoughts.
Hi Nikki! You are so super encouraging! I recently purchased a new face cleanser, just for mornings, and started wearing mascara again. These small things really do so much for the day. I would like to start wearing dresses, but I'm a bit overweight. Would you suggest i go ahead and buy a dress to get started, or wait until I lose a few (many) pounds? It might bec worth it to go ahead and buy a dress. My thighs keep wearing through the jeans anyway. I think if I'm buying a $40 pair of jeans, I might save to be buying dresses instead. Do you have any input on buying dresses when you intend to lose weight? Thank you in advance! Thank you for being such an inspiration! 💐💖💐💖💐
That means a lot to me, thank you! I would highly recommend getting yourself a handful of dresses you can cycle through. You are deserving of feeling and looking your best every day no matter that dress size. My best advice and what I have done since gaining weight and not being able to fit into my non-stretchy dresses, buy dresses in fabric that does. I’m more comfortable and they expand and contract as I do. While I have intentions, this still allows me to enjoy this part of my life that affects every other area🌹
I'm so proud of you for taking care of your face and adding mascara. I think you should purchase a comfortable, stretchy dress. You will feel so good about yourself and you should celebrate who you are now. It will inspire you in your weight loss journey. Blessings ❤

Hello my dear, it’s my first time watching one of your videos. What a delight to have found you.
NIKKI!!! So amazingly said ! Love it! Great video thank you for sharing! Can’t wait for volume 2. 🌹👍
Thank you kindly, Gloria 🌹
Hi Nikki lovely video, l still dress up everyday , sometimes l go nowhere but in myself I feel clean and well put together, it absolutely makes the day better. Lovely seeing Lady and she has grown so much absolutely gorgeous. Thanks Nikki love your dress. ❤❤
Thank you thank you Nikki for encouraging me today . I'm really needed this video
Great video as always. You have such great advice and encouraging word for us all.
Thanks Nikki
So lovely and exquisite
Your videos really inspired me so much during the years.
I can even say that my life is now much better, like an upgrade.
Dresses are my uniform thanks to you, dear 👗 and so are nude ballerinas
How can I thank you enough for all that you share with the world?
Thank ypu Nikki, you reied to my query about chores and dresses last time in the comments. I have got a few dresses now that are day dresses and ok for house cleaning, but im also put together ❤️ thank you x
I love dressing up everyday. I have loved it since I was a kid. I used to watch my mom get dressed every morning. I remember all the moms at the school were dressed nicely growing up and always had on nice jewelry and perfume.
I’m a stay at home mother to a toddler now and when we go to play dates at the library or park all the other moms are literally wearing pajamas. I feel like I don’t really fit in with the other moms :/
Just curious to if anyone else has this problem or am I not going to the right play dates?
Same here. Many people look like they just rolled out of bed.
Not fitting in is a good sign! Keep on dressing like a civilized person ❤
I haven't seen that but personally, I'd rather look at PJs than booty shorts and crop tops. At least in jammies you're covered up!
I just received the 2024-25 rosebud lifebook. It's beautiful and practical. I absolutely love it and look forward to using it this year. Thank you. ❤
That’s wonderful news 🌹
Hello Nikki thank you for the video, it's encouraging. I try some of these things, but there is always room for improvement. I also start the day with reading the scriptures, I need that time to start the day.
Absolutely!
I'm the same in Brittany, France!
Oh cool, the book sounds good. ❤
Just ordered the lifebook in hardback. I do hope that's the one with the routine. Enjoying your videos.
I would love to wear dresses but struggle to find a style that suits me
Thank you for all your interesting and also beautiful videos. I follow your channel for years now and do find new inspiration and motivation in everyone of them. I am sad tha the the lady of the house is no longer available on amazon. I go back regularly in the hope of finding it to buy again🍀
All the best for you and your family🙏🏻
Greetings from Switzerland
I love blue too 💙
I’m catching up on some videos I’ve missed and I see you have a puppy just like the one we got a couple months ago. Ours is male and potty training is not going so well! Hope yours is doing better than our guy.
She is doing very well as long as her area is limited to the morning room throughout the day. She chooses to use the dog door to go outside.
Hi, thank you for the video. I wanted to ask what you wear around the house during cold winters?
I love to wear sweater dresses when it’s really cold🌹
I give you a lot of credit!
I feel awkward in dresses. Make up and nail polish make me uncomfortable as well.
I wear women's cloths. Just not dresses or skirts. I will wear mascara and lipstick for maybe a wedding.
hi Nikki✨
love this content😊❣️♾️
Hello and I'm so glad 🌹
I loooooove this video ❤❤❤
Where did you buy that dress?
That was a Ross find 🌹
OK, so where do you get all those cute little dresses? There are very few in the stores these days.
Most of my dresses come from Ross these days. I have also found many on Poshmark, 2nd hand 🌹

Yes! Yes! I believe women should wear dresses. I do not own pants. I enjoy watching your videos Nikki.
When I grew up, we couldn’t wear pants to school so all I had was dresses and that’s all I wore till high school. I wish I wouldn’t of stopped wearing them every day. My mother wore dress every day and she did all the housework and had five kids.
I agree about dressing up! But I am surprised to see that you don’t sit down at any point while you get ready. I sit to do my hair and makeup.
I want my home to look like that 😮
Wouldn't be surprised if your wedding ring is feminine and elegant. My Mom's wedding ring was simple but elegant.
Putting on love every day ❤ I like that
You are so amazingly beautiful and so sweet keep up with your great work 💕 coolcat dan
I trally enjoy your channel, love rmbracy my femininity
Dear Nikki,
I hope this message finds you well.
❤ Susan
Dear Susan,
I am so sorry to hear what a struggle you and your spouse are going through. It is heartbreaking to see someone you love experiencing such a hard time.
@@Petra_T_J Thank you so much Petra. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼Yes I’m a woman of the lord and I pray all the time, for him I have a Hugh list- also to give me the strength to keep him safe. His immune system will be very compromised soon. Staying strong because The Lord is with me. God Bless you for sending such a beautiful loving message. Susan ❤️❤️❤️🙋🏻♀️
Sending love and blessings from Sweden💕

This isn't for the average person. This is for elegant people with lots of money
Average people can wear dresses too. I don’t get what you are saying
Huh?? Um, thrift stores and rummage sales exist...
I’ll be sure to wear a dress when I’m mowing my yard and shoveling gravel next weekend
Wonderful, remember your pettipants!
It can be done! Our ancestors did much dirtier and harder work in dresses, after all. But I am not judging if you'd rather wear pants 😊
She sounds like a smarty!
❤
I think you are very rich and live in a mansion.
You know what they say about assuming...
I said its what I think based on your show, not assuming anything.
Please look at this video and see the blue wings sticking up on your shoulders. Adds even more weight
@@TheLadyoftheHouse I thought it complemented your curls
@@TheLadyoftheHouse The dress is gorgeous on you and accentuated your eyes. I admire the way you handled this comment.
Angel wings 👼🥰
Blessings ❤
I agree, those little steps make all the difference and move us in the right direction 🌹
@@StacieBussey Thank you for your kind and supportive words! 💐💖💐💖
@@TheLadyoftheHouse Thank you, Nikki, for such a quick and heartfelt response. No sooner did I see your response, but I also saw that you are doing A Dress a Day in May again. I'm going to revisit last year's vlog for more inspiration again. I'm pretty sure I missed some. I do remember once you spoke of stretchy fabrics, so I'm hoping to come across those again. Thank you, once again, for your response. This is such a beautiful and supportive community! 💖💐💖💐
