Maybe find a vintage mother of pearl buckle for the dress. I have my husbands grandmothers that she wore on her wedding day, I need to think of something to do with it.
I haven’t celebrated Halloween since my kids were 3 and 7 when I got saved by Jesus. 2 1:7 Timothy says “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV For God has not given us the spirit of FEAR, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. I’m glad you had a good time in my home state of VA
I, too, make my own woodstove firestarters from paper towel/tissue cardboard rolls- to make them cuter, i wrap each in waxed paper sheets and twist the ends like a Christmas popper. They rest in a brass bucket near the hearth til they're needed. Thanks for taking us along on your Fall prep journey...❤️
Not a Halloween fan.. 🍂🍁 Fall!! That dress is gorgeous. I decorated for fall several weeks ago. I just wanted to extend all the feels as long as possible. Very simple w natural twigs, leaves, Indian corn, wheat .. Today is my mom's heavenly birthday. 9 months after her death. This is such a comfort to watch today. 🕊️
I love Halloween but I’m not for the dark stuff. It’s more kitschy cute black cats, bats, candy corn, jack-o’-lanterns and maybe a ghost or two. No horror or skeletons or dark. I made a neon Halloween quilt that is so fun a few years ago. I’m all for fun but the horror isn’t my thing.
My son has beautiful rugs. To clean them he puts them in the back of his small trailer and takes them one at a time to the do it yourself spray car wash. Works very well.
I love to use the fall months just to focus on being thankful for the blessings from the Lord. Halloween is so dark and evil. Just not what is healthy for our souls. Thanks for sharing your great finds. They're all beautiful. I've been where you're at with the clean up and dust from sanding wood floors. It's so much to recover from. It's worth the results, though. Enjoy fall, everyone!
I have washed my large living room rug on our trampoline. The airflow is good for it to dry. I just used a steam cleaner. I agree with you about Halloween, it has taken way too dark of a turn, I would say demonic. It’s hard to even want to walk through Home Depot around this time of year, so creepy! The red dress is really pretty on you, I like the idea you have about removing the buckle. I thing a beautiful antique brooch would be pretty at the neckline.
I can identify with what you guys are going through! Our house is late 1800’s and we have been slowly redoing it over the past three years. Right now it’s new floors for the kitchen, then on to me painting the cabinets. I think I am going to do some type of a grayish finish where the wood will still shine through. We have finished installing the two shelves by the fridge with old barn wood. Turned out amazing! I am almost finished decorating the guest bedroom and one more tic on the box of finished rooms. After the kitchen it’s onto the sunroom at the front of this cottage. I am not striving for perfection, because I will get that one day. ❤When I see Jesus face to face. ❤
I totally agree about Halloween…we use to heat with only wood…it is a job..plus we had to replace our front porch and do the crawl space which was non existent…oh well we all survived…know you will too…
No Halloween here, either! I just celebrate harvest. I have a really nice amber glass collection including a violin, a pair of Victorian shoes, a lantern, a pumpkin, and a 1940’s vase. I love pulling them out in the fall. Enjoyable video! Bless you and your family!
I feel the same about Halloween; I was never big on decorating for it & stopped celebrating it in any way a few years ago. It seems like the decorations are so dark &, as a mama of young children, I dislike it even more when I see the grotesque things people put out. I embrace fall harvest - mums, pumpkins we grow, antique crocks, dried hydrangeas, foraged goldenrod for a natural, homemade wreath. So beautiful & life giving. 💜
I agree on Halloween. Because my grandson lives here, I will put out only a couple things for him but mainly it's all Fall. I love your old farmhouse! I wish I had a front porch.
I 100% agree with you about Halloween! (and my birthday is October 30!) The only good thing about Oct 31 is that it is the anniversary of the Reformation!
Your home is beautiful. I’m trying to adopt the less is more approach without minimalism. I think you have just the right balance. I love blue transferware - I have a small collection as well. And I think the white mixed with brown glass bottles is perfect. I’ve got a very small collection of those also. I don’t even care about Halloween anymore. You are right, it has become so dark.
I am not a Halloween person at all. Even as a child I was not a fan. I decorate for fall...It's beautiful and is my favorite season. I have little touches in each room. One thing I added last year is a Gratitude Tree. I saw a Thanksgiving Tree by Linda Smith Davis and decided to go with my own theme and put it up on October 30th (The date I became a Mama for the first time...I'm so grateful for that!!). It has pine cones, small pictures frames (With my Children and Grandchildren's photos in them). Leaves, Turkey feathers, artificial fruits and wooden beads. It's so fun and I add little things I am grateful for during the season. It's up until I decorate for Christmas.
So much I loved ! First off that dress was stunning on you. Your a beautiful woman. The tip on washing the rug was so great ! I never would of thought you could do that with the rugs. I love those two beautiful urns you have at your entry. They look perfect there . My grandparents had two on their front porch made of cement that I always loved . One day my brother drove down to just remember our house and our grandparents house across the street and there were those urns tossed by the side of the porch like junk. My brother spoke to the owners and offered to buy them but they weren’t the nicest people and they said no. Those urns are still right where he saw them a few years ago. I totally agree with you about Halloween it’s very dark and I’ve had nothing to do with with it for many years . Could I suggest on that evil night maybe get some family and friends togeather to read some Bible out loud and pray togeather? Read particularly Ephesians 6 10-20 . Lastly I loved the treasures and gifts you brought home from your trip and where you placed them all . How Blessed we are to see blessings in loved ones and people and the beauty in simple things. Thankyou for this lovely video as Iam enjoying a cozy dark very rainy day here in coastal Maine . Have a very beautiful blessed day 🙏🕊💕🌻🍂🌾🍁🍄🦞
Oh, the red dress is a treasure and it looks perfect on you! You are right, old houses are not for the faint of heart. We had an old one in Buckley, WA for 17 years. It was charming, but as we aged, the upkeep was kicking us. Totally agree on the Halloween being very dark lately. I keep my house with a sprinkling of fall.
I do understand how difficult it is for keeping an old house in order. We have a house built in 1641 (in Germany) with what we call the new build where the kitchen is from 1801. It is worth it as the are a living entity. Really enjoy your videos and also like reading the comments.
I use the toilet paper rolls with dryer lint too. My husband being the ‘man’ doesn’t use them unless it’s a last resort. lol. We don’t do or decorate for Halloween but I do Fall decorating.
Sarah, such a lovely video. Creating a clean slate for each season feels right. You found and were gifted with lovely pieces. The purple transferware plate is beautiful. I don't do Halloween and don't watch Halloween decorating videos even from my favorite content creators. Fall is so rich with colorful leaves, pumpkins and bright colored mums. 🍁🍂
My little money saver regarding the fireplace is, I save and dry all my tea bags, place them in a glass jar and pour some lamp oil in. They work so well, is real cheap and you reuse something that normally end in the bin. ♡ BTW.... love your channel
Feel the same about Halloween. I love fall with all the nature available to me. Sarah, you are beautiful in what ever you wear. We are so thankful to have such a knowledgeable person as you. I have been so inspired by She Holds Dearly. Marilyn from Michigan ❤️🙏🏻✝️
I agree with you on Halloween. Here in Ontario the outdoor decor is not only dark but cheap and ugly too. So many reasons not to look! I love the beautiful watering can! Ive ruined one before by storing water in it and then it rusted and started to leak. Its best to store them empty in between uses.
Old houses are often the best even with all the work. We are currently living through the massive flooding that hit WNC. It is amazing to drive through the hardest hit areas. Many of the oldest homes are still standing. Yes the will need gutting...but the are standing. Homes that are less than 50 years old are gone...collapsed or washed away completely. Love your cozy home.
I love this! I have read in an old almanac and construction manual for construction beginners, on how to build homes to last. It was published back in the 1950s. I think I have it somewhere in my book trunk in storage. Anyhow, the older houses are still standing because they had and have strong foundations and bones. Every other house after 1990s and 2000s It's all made out of paper. Literally paper. It's wood over wood. No bricks, no stones, no mortar underneath the house to allow it to swing side to side during winds or earthquakes. Now, most large buildings 14+ stories have a type of mortar stabilization underneath, but rarely does it work for a massive place. It would be wonderful if city planners implemented those ideas back. It would save many people a lot of money! I hope you have a great Autunm! 🍂🍂🍂🎃🎃🎃
Great finds. The dress looks beautiful on you, and the shoes look like a perfect color match. 😊 I saw an idea for firestarters years ago. Dip dried pinecones in wax.
It was probably an issue with the fern bulbs in themselves, try to get the wild ones that “ creep “ beautifully everywhere and plant them. The more rustic and wild the best
I pressure wash my rugs! We drape them over scaffolding and I start with using laundry detergent in the "soap" dispenser on the washer, spray them very well with that (if particularly dirty, I let that sit on it for a while), and then change out to the pressure nozzle and thoroughly wash all the suds out. If I start early on a good weather day, they are ready to be laid back down the next morning and they smell so, so good!
I am only a few minutes into your video and totally understand about old houses. My house in Queensland was built in 1898. Currently I am painting my office, which involves steaming wallpaper and painting 12 foot high ceilings. So the furniture from the office is everywhere else in the house. I am relocating a huge dresser to our dining room, but first have to get rid of a very old piano. Currently on my covered verandah is all the sheeting for the fireplace that we are replacing, and the vinyl flooring that will go in the kitchen once the old fireplace is out. We have to wait so new flooring is not damaged. When I look around all I see is chaos. For the last two weeks, I pulled a muscle in my back, so nothing has been done. It does drive me a little crazy, and then Christmas is coming up quick. I need to have things done, so I have room for all the Christmas things!Love your videos.
Sarah, you have such an incredible husband that is able to do all the needed upkeep on your home. I truly enjoyed this video, the puppy is getting so big. I had never seen purple transferware before, it's quite beautiful. I love all of your treasures. Just a thought, I noticed on the gold hook with the crystal knobs that they would be less noticeable if you put a little rub n buff on the screws. God bless you my sweet Sister in Christ.❤
Very nice video. Lovely house and all of your furnishings. Nothing 'fussy'. Just pleasing to look at and a comfortable, welcoming place in which to be. Beautiful red dress, too! Looks great on you. Thanks for the video. Happy Fall!
I just love your channel…..your voice is so soft while narrating the video. You have a beautiful home and property. Your esthetic of decor is so much what I love….and by the way you are so pretty…thank you so much for sharing your talents
Oh Sarah! You look beautiful in the red dress. Your going to stun your guests 🥰. You really find such neat things. I love how you think. The last little picture you put on the shelf! I love it and pared with the brushes and the little light colored coat displayed by it! I am in love ❤❤❤. Thank you Sarah for your sweet and soft soul 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Beautiful! I enjoy your style.💕 Yes, I agree with your observation that Halloween has become too dark. I was shocked to see some of the items they are selling in the big box stores for “ decorating” ! Just gruesome.
Hi Sarah, I have been following you for about one year. I watched the Bespoke 2024 video, what a beautiful video, thank you. I also completely agree about halloween. You are an inspiration to me. Thank you.
Such a lovely video, I enjoy watching you arrange your items in the home. You have some great areas to shop in for vintage items, I am a little envious but more happy for you.
Hi Sarah, Deena from Graceful Living uses tassles heaps in her decor. In her last video (or the one before) she did a quick tour of where she put them in her house.
The only advice I can give on ferns is that all my ferns are in full shade. I have ferns for the ground and ones for pots. All shade. I actually never have had any variety of fern that likes full sun. My Kimberly Queen fern can take some morning sun. But she gets shade after that. My Boston ferns stay in full shade. My ferns thrive all season and still currently are. (I’m in SC Zone 8a) All my ferns get consistent water. I never let the ones in pots dry out. But I have a variety of ferns besides the classic Boston and Kimberly Queen (ones you typically see on porches) and all thrive in shade.
Really enjoyed this video. The red dress is beautiful on you. I would look for a vintage buckle, somthing metal with scrollwork. But the way you styled it looks nice too.
I just did my rug, and i used the Bissell cleaner liquid, then my husband helped me hang it over our swing porch frame, it was dry by the time we came home from church.
Such beautiful finds! I think you had a diy for christmas bells a few years ago, right? That tassel might look nice incorporated with those! Thank you for another peace filled video ❤
Omg ❤Sarah. I love ❤️ love ❤️ love this episode and how beautifully you herald in the new cozy seasons you’re entering in USA. 🇺🇸. It’s springtime here in Australia 🇦🇺 but honestly I feel so much more connected to the American seasons. It always fills my heart ♥️ with so much joy ♥️♥️♥️. Thank you 🙏 for sharing ❤your home. It was amazing to be back in behind the scenes this past week. So fills my cup. Very grateful to you and Anne for all you do to bring it together. Thank you 🙏. ❤❤❤
My husband is the Halloween lover, so the only room in our house with Halloween decor is our pantry. His coffee stuff is in there so it works out great
Lovely vlog Sarah, I relate to much of the content. Love the Christmas dress for $10!! Looks wonderful on you! I felt so peaceful watching today, TFS all of it! 😊
Not a fan of Halloween. I absolutely love tassels and have several. I did look for some today at the estate sales I attended. Purple transferware is beautiful. You came home with a beautiful collection, Sarah. All the things I would have bought, too! Oh, and the dust...I'm still working on that project from our floor project this summer. ❤❤❤❤
I so missed being at Bespoke! So glad you had a wonderful experience 😊. I love fall, transfer ware and the Lord! Of course He's first! Love your videos ❤. Happy Fall 🍁
I do like Halloween but, it definitely has changed over the years. I mostly do jack-o’-lanterns, crows, a skeleton maybe some cobwebs. No gross stuff. Mostly the whole haunted house vibe.
I'm sure you were a great fern mama! Perennial ferns don't grow fast. They aren't going to do much the first year. They are going to do a little more the second year and then hopefully flourish in the third year. It isn't always like that, but with a lot of plants they are really just getting established in the first season. I'm glad you had enough time at Bespoke this year to do some antiquing! I know last year you had your nose to the grindstone and weren't able to go to the shops.
One thing Sarah; the lint from the dryer has synthetic and plastic fibers in it. Burning could be toxic to your puppy and kitty as well as possibly coat your chimney shoot.
I so agree with you on Halloween. Instead I decorate for Fall with leaves, hydrangeas, mums and pumpkins.
Same
I wish Halloween could be removed from the calendar. It's not at all what it was meant to be.
I also don’t do Halloween never have. I decorate for fall through thanksgiving
Maybe find a vintage mother of pearl buckle for the dress. I have my husbands grandmothers that she wore on her wedding day, I need to think of something to do with it.
I haven’t celebrated Halloween since my kids were 3 and 7 when I got saved by Jesus.

Your “ ministry” brings such calm to my soul! Thank you and bless you!
The red dress is so flattering on you, Sarah. Instead of Velcro, hook & eyes would work well.
Melinda, I feel so deeply for you. My mama passed away 2 months ago & fall is not the same without her. Prayers for healing for your heart. 💜
@@morganlynn7235 🕊️🕊️🕊️. I appreciate your kind words. I'm so very sorry for your loss. It's a tremendous loss. 🤍
Mrs. B here, thank you for the comment on Halloween. So true. Enjoy your posts!
I love the music. It sounded like the Ava Maria ❤
Also your decorating is extremely beautiful and calming. Thanks for sharing your talent.

I am trying not to be jealous about your red dress find! Red anything always speaks to me!! You'll LOVE Erin French's cookbook~~
Oh thank you!

The people who sell these carpets in Turkey and the middle east have suggested using ivory soap. They also use a squeegee to extract the water.

This was so delightful...
It was like a breath of fresh air, on a sunshiny day ❤
That stunning dress is darling on you!

Ur Easter purple transferware is also appropriate becuz purple is the color of Royalty, and Easter is all about our KING JESUS!! 🩷

I used to keep the wood burning stove going also in the middle of the night. Yes it is a pain to get it going again. Yes. On not doing Halloween!
Спасибо за красивое вдохновляющее видео. ❤
I love Halloween, its just fun and a little spooky.
Thank you for sharing.
Your antiques❤
I ignore Halloween altogether, I don’t even give out candy😅
Your home is lovely and the red dress is gorgeous!
I love your video they are so calming and you have such good taste in decoration simple but elegant at the same time 😊
I loved this video! You're channel is such a blessing. 🍂🍁

I decorate for Fall too, it carries me through Thanksgiving. Thank you for the idea on how to wash a large rug! Have a beautiful week!
Very nice video. Lovely house and all of your furnishings. Nothing 'fussy'. Just pleasing to look at and a comfortable, welcoming place in which to be. Beautiful red dress, too! Looks great on you. Thanks for the video. Happy Fall!
LOVE the dress! ♥️ It looks so nice on you, like it was custom made! God bless you and yours.
I just love your channel…..your voice is so soft while narrating the video. You have a beautiful home and property. Your esthetic of decor is so much what I love….and by the way you are so pretty…thank you so much for sharing your talents
Happy Fall! I love decorating for this season.
Everything is so lovely. Thank you for sharing!
Hi! Ferns are woodland plants. The do very well in the shade and damp to dry places. Think walking through the woods. Hope this helps. X
Oh Sarah! You look beautiful in the red dress. Your going to stun your guests 🥰. You really find such neat things. I love how you think. The last little picture you put on the shelf! We celebrate Harvest!
thanks for the video. cheers oh and loving your blue dress!!! link?
Beautiful! I enjoy your style.💕
Yes, I agree with your observation that Halloween has become too dark. I was shocked to see some of the items they are selling in the big box stores for “ decorating” ! Just gruesome.
Very nice decorating. Thanks 🎉
You should get a small psi pressure washer to use on your porch... THEN use it to clean your rugs!
What a gorgeous dress! ❤Looks stunning on you!
Thank you so much!
Your dog is precious!!!
Love the tassels ❤
Really enjoyed this video. The red dress is beautiful on you. I would look for a vintage buckle, somthing metal with scrollwork. But the way you styled it looks nice too.
Such a pretty dress!
You are stunning in that dress! What a pretty color on you!❤
You are absolutely lovely and your home is beautiful!! I’m not a Halloween fan so I love your fall decor ideas!❤
Just subscribed. Met you on Kristin’s vlog. Enjoyed this vlog. TY.
Welcome!!
I just did my rug, and i used the Bissell cleaner liquid, then my husband helped me hang it over our swing porch frame, it was dry by the time we came home from church.
I love the beautiful red dress
Thank you!!
Such beautiful finds! I think you had a diy for christmas bells a few years ago, right? That tassel might look nice incorporated with those! Thank you for another peace filled video ❤
I love your red dress and it looks beautiful on you. Thank you for sharing.
Ps. I love ❤️ everything you create and what catches your eye with the vintage finds at Bespoke. Oh my heart ♥️
Glad to have you back!
My husband is the Halloween lover, so the only room in our house with Halloween decor is our pantry. His coffee stuff is in there so it works out great
Love your dog!!!!!!
Lovely vlog Sarah, I relate to much of the content. Love the Christmas dress for $10!! Looks wonderful on you! I felt so peaceful watching today, TFS all of it! 😊
TFS also the special gifts from the ladies at Bespoke- they really gave you beautiful things that are so on point of who you are!!!
I like the wood stove
Not a fan of Halloween. I absolutely love tassels and have several. I did look for some today at the estate sales I attended. Purple transferware is beautiful. You came home with a beautiful collection, Sarah. All the things I would have bought, too! Oh, and the dust...I'm still working on that project from our floor project this summer. ❤❤❤❤
I so missed being at Bespoke! So glad you had a wonderful experience 😊. I love fall, transfer ware and the Lord! Of course He's first! Love your videos ❤. Happy Fall 🍁
You were missed, Shelly!
I do like Halloween but, it definitely has changed over the years. I mostly do jack-o’-lanterns, crows, a skeleton maybe some cobwebs. No gross stuff. Mostly the whole haunted house vibe.
Fur baby is too darn cute.
Ferns often grow close to other habitats that compete for water. They reach for light. Maybe adding the Wort will help.
Okay, I have to stop this video to say - the dress! It's beautiful, and perfect on you, perfect for a redhead. You remind me of Demelza, from Poldark!
What wonderful finds from the retreat. Love all your ideas and style
Thank you so much!
I love transferwear I’m trying to get pieces in greeni have some but so hard to find…. I also want the brown I have the red holiday ones
You look incredible in that dress ❤
Love all your antiques from Virginia. What are the names of the books?
