Quick addendum that I haven't seen anyone point out: Spinda's spot patterns are based on all 32 bits of their Personality Value. A pokemon's shininess is determined by comparing their personality value to a trainer's two ID numbers. For any given Pokemon Emerald save file, there are about 524,288 Spinda patterns that will always be shiny, with the remaining 4.2 billion being essentially shiny locked. At an absolute *minimum* you would need 8192 saves to have enough coverage to be able to shiny every pattern, but given the extremely high chance of repeats the actual number would probably be somewhere in the millions range. Additionally, there are several personality values that cause the spots to be rendered mostly off the body such that you can't see the exact placement (e.g. spindas #FFF1C710 and #FF00C701 are identical), meaning you'd have to waste time determining the exact personality value so you know which pattern it actually is. You'd also be locked into their abilities and natures per pattern, if you were trying for those, which frankly I'm surprised you aren't. (Feel free to correct me on any of this, my knowledge is based entirely on skimming Bulbapedia articles and half-comprehending the math involved)
To add another fun level to the 100%-ing, every possible combination of IVs on every pokemon, including shinies and variations. You could go 'you can't do legendries cause there's only one instance of them' however consider that you would just have to replay through the game and then trade them across
2:28 So happy to see a 40 Cakes shoutout! I still can't believe just how long the second Seedot is taking, it'll be like 2034 by the time it finally happens.
Technically you have to get every Pokémon, with each type of iv spread, and max out evs in different stats, and get every nature, and every ability, and nickname all of them, and give each one a item.
Nicknames can be changed though so its not really completable... unless we want a living dex of every possible nickname. That could be a good use of your time.
I was thinking that! 25 natures, 887,503,681 IV spreads, 21,006,573,495 EV spreads (maybe. I'm not sure), altogether that's 4.66 × 10²⁰ spreads. Per pokemon. Now make them shiny and non-shiny, have different abilities where applicable, same with forms (Spinda...), catch them all in every different ball, and create a living dex of all of them at every level from 1 to 100. Now, on to contest stat spreads...
Every level, IV combo, EV combo, contest stat combo, pokeball, item, gender, nature, ability, moveset (1-4 of every move in every order), Egg Move knowledge (outside of the 4 slots), and ribbon combination. On each Spinda. Once you're done you can do the same but with shinies!
The editing on this is phenomenal. The amount of effort these research and calcs must have taken is wild. Dude legitimately put more effort into the sponsor segment than the last 100 sponsors I've seen combined. That's my GOAT.
The thing about truly 100 percenting the game that would also mean you would have to have every single Pokemon with every single possible nickname IV's and EV's secret ID, and so much more by that time are sun would explode, it would take over a trillion years for that to happen, I calculated for about an hour
A lot of these things can be grouped together, catching normal spinda while going for the shiny ones, using the required battles to help with the leveling, and not wasting days looking for mirage island
Congratulations, you just 100%ed one Pokémon game. Time to get to the rest of them! After all, you have several trillion new generations that came out in the meantime to catch up on!
This video doesn't take into account that you can only hold 420 mons in the box. This means you'd need 9526 copies of emerald to house all your mons, which would then have to be doubled to account for having both a shiny and non-shiny. This also means you'd have to beat the game an additional 19052 times just to be able to train all of them, and then you'd also have to either trade a mon holding the Liechi berry or get one naturally that many more times too. I would hope the other berry just works with multiple games and not a one and done 'cause good luck getting almost 20k of those.
I would argue 100% Pokémon Emerald would take longer. He said that you would have to get Perfect IV's for every Pokémon and their shiny forms. If you were trying to 100% complete this game, would that not mean that you would have to get ALL of the IV stat distributions? Does 100% not mean every Pokémon and every form of Pokémon needs to have every value in every stat possible? If I'm wrong, let me know
Not to be that gal, but you could get the Leichi Berry from an event Zigzagoon (shiny holding the item given out to apologize for the berry glitch) and cut off the time needed to find Mirage Island.

It's quite wild to think that if you sat down and played Pokemon Emerald for the first time in 2004/2005 and did a Shiny Living Dex, you would've theoretically completed it by now even after 6 generations of Pokemon have gone by
That gym leader edit sequence at 0:40 is sooooo clean. You sly fox, Frank. Jump scaring me with a sponsor transition. As soon as I heard "Pokeblocks" my eyes widened and I remembered why Game Freak and I have problems. PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF Mirage Island was top 10 edits I've seen from you Frank, love how it kind of faded in, those effects were just the chef's kiss. Emerald 100% Subathon when???
I recognize this is a joke, but I have to do the typical internet thing and start an argument in the comments :P I'd argue that names are not a completion thing, since it's something you input into the game rather than something the game awards to you.
You did well in this video, but you still missed a few things, which are not limited to: - Unique IV combos - Pokerus (rare effect you get from battling in the wild, although there’s a good chance you’ll get it in that amount of time) - Every other Pokémon if we left Emerald - Every single unique item, TM, key item, and so on
For completion, rather than just going for perfect IVs, I was expecting him to go for one of each possible combination of IVs for each one. To simulate that, just add roughly 9 more 0s to the end number (2^5 possibilities for each value, with 6 stats, means 2^30 or ~1 billion of each pokemon)
This is such an interesting video as it shows how vast time actually is and how dumb probability gets. For us, even 20 years is an extremely large time period. But in the context of the video, it's just silly how miniscule it was compared to what was to come. After a point, the numbers stopped even making sense to us. Some numbers so large that the universe might not even be there anymore.... Even mundane things like video games can reach impossible time periods with probability. Puts into perspective how short is the time we will actually experience.
Another incredible vid Frank! Can’t wait for ur next upload and I am sure it will be as good as this one. We’re all rooting for u. But while we wait for your next video we will be sitting and vibing… maybe with intent
That is mental 😂 With how long (and expensive) the berries are, just maxing one pokemon fully (so shiny, max ivs, all ribbons..) is going to take over a year most likely. And then you only have a single perfect whiscash 😂
Ok so to put that last number into perspective, our universe has been around for 14 billion years, theoretically we would have to live through our universe's entire existence 8 billion times to get to that number of years (please correct my math if I'm mistaken)
I would love to see a whole spreadsheet of the math for this XD I feel like math teachers could use it as an “in” for kids who don’t like math, except this would probably make them go “well, this is insane and I could never get to this level.” Incredible video
You just missed it the fucking sun just blew up for some reason has me dying and BTW I know these are kinda funny but the actual work you put in is fucking insane man. You have to be a goat when it comes to UA-cam at this point.
You forgot: -Capturing in every type of ball -Capturing one of every nature -Capturing one of every ability -Having one at every possible level on each mon. -Having 99 of every possible item -Having all signature moves -Having all event moves -Acquring all secret base items
This doesn't even mention that if you REALLY wanna 100% it, you also need one of every level Pokemon with one of every possible combination of IV's, plus getting each of those with their hidden abilities too
You'd have to be Beerus from DBZ Super to 100% Pokemon, because you have to be immortal and literally control the planets so you can keep playing. Or run the most insane computer imaginable.
a couple of things that would speed up the time: 1) to find all the shinies would probably take a bit less time if you factor in abilities like magnet pull and use the repel trick when possible. it wouldnt make shiny hunting any faster but it would decrease the chances of duplicates 2)you would have already gained a lot of evs from battling the elite four so every pokemon would already be at max evs by the time they were at level 100 and even if you reset them all back to 0 evs pokemon can give a max of 3evs depending on the species which can be doubled with a power item and doubled again with pokerus for a total of 12 per battle aswell as any vitamins you buy with all your elite four money which instantly give 10 evs up to a max of 100 per stat for all games gen 3-7 (gen 8 + after is not capped to 100) so it would take a lot less time if you were doing it optimally. 3) genderless pokemon like magnemite CAN breed what you said was only half true genderless pokemon cant breed with eachother but they can breed with ditto(excluding 2 ditto which cant breed) which would produce an egg of whatever the other pokemon that isnt ditto 4) i know this was done not including rng manipualtion but since it isnt a bug, cheat or hack it would probably take an experieced person 15-25 mins per shiny 31 iv pokemon meaning it would take a lot less than 55000 years
This is one of the reasons why Pokemon has become the game I play literally every day. It is almost literally an infinite game. (The other reason is that I love it as a fidget toy, just sitting and pressing buttons all the time makes me focused and relaxed)
Don’t forget you need to step on every tile in the game, get every pokemon with every possible stat variation, get every pokemon with every possible move combination, get all of the shinies/variants of all of those, and then use every possible move/item with every single one of those against every NPC’s pokemon in the game and every possible wild pokemon. Oh, and you need the max amount if every item. Yeah, this is stupid.
Instead of watching this video I could've called my grandparents or done some dishes. Maybe get some push-ups in or meditation. Instead I spent 17 minutes of my limited time on Earth learning that there is no point trying to catch every 6*31 IV shiny Spinda variant because the heat death of the universe would occur before you'd be able to get them all.

This was only Emerald. You still got... 6 more Generations worth of Pokemon and all their games' dumb time waster side attractions. OH! And you forgot to factor in the amount of times you'd have to replace Emerald's clock battery and troubleshoot it in external devices and software.
The funny thing is, Spinda patterns are based on PID which determines IVs and Shininess. Meaning even if you did somehow play the game for that long, you would fail in your quest because there’s only a handful of Spinda patterns that could be shiny for your specific trainer and many of them wouldn’t ever be able to be 31/31/31/31/31/31. You would also have to restart the game multiple times to get through all the shiny patterns because you would need countless different TIDs and SIDs to get every shiny spinda. This also introduces the fact you would have to keep rolling different Trainer ID and Secret ID combinations every time you started a new game. And lastly, emerald’s calculations for determining IVs is really flawed and makes getting 31/31/31/31/31/31 even when breeding way rarer than it should be, and even worse for trying to catch a 31/31/31/31/31/31 pokemon naturally. I wonder what that hellish task would look like if you calculated it out.

Why does the Nutpea berry look like that and then also have SUPER HARD firmness and a size of 4.9 inches?? This berry put the freak in GameFreak
IDK but probably
Stop he's already dead
So much math.....my head hurts, Frank is a mad man
The thing about truly 100 percenting the game that would also mean you would have to have every single Pokemon with every single possible nickname IV's and EV's secret ID, and so much more by that time are sun would explode, it would take over a trillion years for that to happen, I calculated for about an hour
Frank made this vid so he could count his Analogue Pocket as a tax write off. Smart man.
ingenious
Hey it's him 👋
A lot of these things can be grouped together, catching normal spinda while going for the shiny ones, using the required battles to help with the leveling, and not wasting days looking for mirage island
I would hope the other berry just works with multiple games and not a one and done 'cause good luck getting almost 20k of those.
except he talked about how many copies of pokemon home you’d need (a game that acts as a universal pc)
@@doorsby I missed him mentioning pokemon home. Interesting. But I like the idea of keeping it all on official cartridges.

16:52 "THERE'S A LOT OF RIBBONS, UH OH" Made me lose it, oh my gosh this is insane to think about adding all of the ribbons to the fudge ton of spinda
If I'm wrong, let me know
oh my….. you’re right
@@AstroidmaniaVideosjust add a few dozens of zeros at the end of the current number of years

Frank, you might be the biggest troll poketuber, but your content is fire. Love your unique videos like this
Not to be that gal, but you could get the Leichi Berry from an event Zigzagoon (shiny holding the item given out to apologize for the berry glitch) and cut off the time needed to find Mirage Island.

It's quite wild to think that if you sat down and played Pokemon Emerald for the first time in 2004/2005 and did a Shiny Living Dex, you would've theoretically completed it by now even after 6 generations of Pokemon have gone by

This video is awesome, the editing, the story, the art, the idea, I love it
You could have named each of them every name you possibly could
At that point Earth would come back in the new universe
I recognize this is a joke, but I have to do the typical internet thing and start an argument in the comments :P I'd argue that names are not a completion thing, since it's something you input into the game rather than something the game awards to you.
You did well in this video, but you still missed a few things, which are not limited to:
- Unique IV combos
- Pokerus (rare effect you get from battling in the wild, although there’s a good chance you’ll get it in that amount of time)
- Every other Pokémon if we left Emerald
- Every single unique item, TM, key item, and so on
16:44 "it would take about 6 pbtpbptpvtpbprpft exp"
"THERE'S A LOT OF RIBBONS - UH OH!"
Or you know..... 5 minutes in PKHeX
Your videos are put together soooo wellll 😭 definitely think you deserve more recognition
Hey, at least they gave immortal people something to do.
1:40 gender differences were not introduced until gen IV
This is such an interesting video as it shows how vast time actually is and how dumb probability gets.
For us, even 20 years is an extremely large time period. But in the context of the video, it's just silly how miniscule it was compared to what was to come. After a point, the numbers stopped even making sense to us. Some numbers so large that the universe might not even be there anymore.... Even mundane things like video games can reach impossible time periods with probability.
Puts into perspective how short is the time we will actually experience.
don't forget that you have to get every species of pokemon with every possible nickname
15:40 the sun blew up
999x of all items + pokerus, all dialogue and battles
Another incredible vid Frank! Can’t wait for ur next upload and I am sure it will be as good as this one. We’re all rooting for u. But while we wait for your next video we will be sitting and vibing… maybe with intent
At this rate, we’ll get every shiny Spinda with perfect IVs before gta 6
13:15
The 4th 31: *Am i a joke to you?*
The 4 & 27: you are worthless to us
This is also the amount of time it takes for game freak to fix every bug in gen 9
That is mental 😂 With how long (and expensive) the berries are, just maxing one pokemon fully (so shiny, max ivs, all ribbons..) is going to take over a year most likely.
And then you only have a single perfect whiscash 😂
Ok so to put that last number into perspective, our universe has been around for 14 billion years, theoretically we would have to live through our universe's entire existence 8 billion times to get to that number of years (please correct my math if I'm mistaken)
wait until the speedrunners hear about this

Who’s gonna tell him that gender differences made their debut in Diamond and Pearl, not in Emerald 😭😭

This doesn't even mention that if you REALLY wanna 100% it, you also need one of every level Pokemon with one of every possible combination of IV's, plus getting each of those with their hidden abilities too
I'd just like to point out that if you were to do this, you would have to live through 2,036,532,800,000 universes to complete this. how is this real
Is this video inspired by blucubed 100% Minecraft video
Yes :)
Just wanna say, the editing on this video is insanely good. Great job man.
Hi Patterz.
I know you will be reacting to this.
You'd have to be Beerus from DBZ Super to 100% Pokemon, because you have to be immortal and literally control the planets so you can keep playing. Or run the most insane computer imaginable.
a couple of things that would speed up the time:
1) to find all the shinies would probably take a bit less time if you factor in abilities like magnet pull and use the repel trick when possible. it wouldnt make shiny hunting any faster but it would decrease the chances of duplicates
2)you would have already gained a lot of evs from battling the elite four so every pokemon would already be at max evs by the time they were at level 100 and even if you reset them all back to 0 evs pokemon can give a max of 3evs depending on the species which can be doubled with a power item and doubled again with pokerus for a total of 12 per battle aswell as any vitamins you buy with all your elite four money which instantly give 10 evs up to a max of 100 per stat for all games gen 3-7 (gen 8 + after is not capped to 100) so it would take a lot less time if you were doing it optimally.
3) genderless pokemon like magnemite CAN breed what you said was only half true genderless pokemon cant breed with eachother but they can breed with ditto(excluding 2 ditto which cant breed) which would produce an egg of whatever the other pokemon that isnt ditto
4) i know this was done not including rng manipualtion but since it isnt a bug, cheat or hack it would probably take an experieced person 15-25 mins per shiny 31 iv pokemon meaning it would take a lot less than 55000 years
Johnstone: "light work"
This is one of the reasons why Pokemon has become the game I play literally every day. It is almost literally an infinite game. (The other reason is that I love it as a fidget toy, just sitting and pressing buttons all the time makes me focused and relaxed)
Dude you're UA-cam channel is 10! years old now how come it feels like you only just started making videos keep up the good work
Don’t forget you need to step on every tile in the game, get every pokemon with every possible stat variation, get every pokemon with every possible move combination, get all of the shinies/variants of all of those, and then use every possible move/item with every single one of those against every NPC’s pokemon in the game and every possible wild pokemon. Oh, and you need the max amount if every item.
Yeah, this is stupid.
Smallant be like: so in todays stream we are going too 100% pokemon emerald
Instead of watching this video I could've called my grandparents or done some dishes. Maybe get some push-ups in or meditation. Instead I spent 17 minutes of my limited time on Earth learning that there is no point trying to catch every 6*31 IV shiny Spinda variant because the heat death of the universe would occur before you'd be able to get them all.
Surely you would need every single possible combination of 0-31 IVs and spread of EVs or you havent done 100 of the game

100%Minecraft still takes longer😂
Perfect explanation for why the contests are so bullshit. Who designs something that takes over 500 million years of nonstop gameplay to complete?!
