The band by itself said 1970s from a distance; mesh bands were a Thing. The face said 60s, and that that's without knowing a thing about the maker or date numbers on the watch. What's it worth? Metal weight, doubled, plus rarity and design value. For watches, it's whatever some collectors will pay on the day. I was figuring 2000 as a start value, but don't know enough of watches to know where it would end.
With the price of gold so high these days, it’s often gold value, but with this being so original, working well and with its box, I hope it’ll do more…but the market is ruthless!
Hiya David, I was fortunate to have owned and sold a lot of early Bulova watches, 20’s & 30’s. I kept a Bulova Lone Eagle II with a rare 13AF movement and another with a common 10AN movement. My favourite was an immaculate 1937 Bulova President, curved case…still regret selling it. This vid has reminded me to find another!! Good luck with the sale, it’s a beautiful watch that deserves to do well.
The bulova lunar pilot was worn by astronaut David Scott on the second mission to the moon after his omega malfunctioned. His timepiece sold for 1.6 million dollars relatively recently.
