    Really a thrill to see someone like yourself who's good at this. As a kid - back around '76 - I very badly wanted to know how to make an arrow head. I spent a lot of time looking for a big piece of flint - little did I know how far I had to go after that! 🤣

      Sounds like my story hahaha. About the same time frame as well. Patrick's videos were instrumental in my learning process. Back in the 70s we surely didn't have much info about this, let alone videos.

    Coffee and breakfast with Patrick nice!btw your point arrived safely in the mail!its awesome!try this out with your tool tips after you file them,run the tips parallel with the teeth of the file,your pressure will determine depth of grooves,it has really helped me with notching grabbing the edge,I do a cross hatch on the rounded tips,give it a try see if you like it

    i have a small point type challenge for you , it is the "kilmarnock type" from scotland . there are some very well made ones with a very distinct shape as far as tanged and barbed points from the beaker culture go . i find it really complicated to get the shape correct with the barbs and tang and notches looking like the originals . i would really like to see one made well , since you are making the small stuff then i thought you might want to try

    • @marycomeau9364
      @marycomeau9364 6 місяців тому

      This is such a beautiful point type. It is amazing that this point was from the bronze age. So cool, I also think the notches, stem, and barbs look like parts from American projectile points. Andice notches, perdiz stem and, toyah barbs. It is like the knappers put all the cool looking features and put them in one point type.
      Thank you 💗💗💗

    Hello watching this video now and I heard you say if you don’t nap in a few days, you kinda get a little rusty. I heard Danny Collins in Oklahoma. He’s a Flint napper I watch he said the same thing.

    40d comes from the old ( pre 1970) English money system called L,S,D. They used the old latin words for some reason Libras(pound), Sisterce(shillings). denari (pennys). Latin spelling might be a bit off! Love the videos

    Common nails larger than 40d are 60d and 80d. Don't know if your hardware has these sizes.

      Probably not. I didn't see them. But I'll check out the hardware stores in a bigger town on my next excursion.
