The 60's, and 70's was definitely their golden period. Powered alot of minbikes and gokarts with those motors.

FYI The change to the motors in the 80s that made them better was my father. He was in prison and his idea was stolen by a prison, guard and sold to Briggs and Stratton. He told me this six months before he died in 2021. His name was Jeffery Harden. He was incarcerated in the Georgia state prison system when his idea excuse me his invention was stolen by a prison guard no less and There was nothing he could do about it because he was behind bars.

Older was better, modern Briggs engines are about even with other manufacturers.

Disappointed with the video, would have been cool if they talked about the different older models rather then show what was going on in the world at the time. That history we know.

Too bad their new engines are just Honda clones that don’t often last longer than five years. And over all I like Tecumseh engines more, they lasted way longer than these did

Too bad today most of their engines are made in China now and are made with a lot of plastic components, even plastic crankshafts and lobes with crappy plastic governor's that break. Plastic carbs are okay though because of ethanol gas. I think that today Honda is the engine of choice, still a lot of plastic. But at least better quality. I miss old Briggs and Stratton and old Wisconsin Robin engines.

I have an old quantum 120000 from 2004 it's brilliant. As you say these were made in the USA for Hayter. Today the parts are made in China and not to as good standard. Hayter has since started buying Honda engine after using Briggs for years. Something not right there. It appears Briggs are now run by accountants and not engineers. Maximum profits is key instead of a stable profit and maximum jobs for the country properity. We live in a selfish world full of greed. We need to support manufacturing. The world wasn't built by bankers.
