I'm 59 years old and I saw them when I was 14 years old with Bon Scott, at a community hall in Wendouree Ballarat. Still one of my strongest memories. Angus played on his back while spinning around like a dying blowfly.
It puts a smile on my face and a tear in my eye at the same time to see Malcolm Young. He was not just the power rhythm behind the music but he was also such a good person. RIP MALCOLM!
Better than Scott Ian, better than Pete Townsend, better than Keith Richards, better even than James Hetfield. Simply the greatest rhythm guitarist of all time.
BTW I attended to this gig back in 2009, Bs As Argentina (Live at River Plate) I was 24, what an amazing and unforgetable experience this was. South American crowd know how to rock.
Have seen AC/DC so many times. One year... 3 nights in a row in Seattle ('81?)... second night Brian tripped over the monitor and fell on me in the front row. Caught his beret, but had to give it back to him ! Was invited backstage. Cool security guys. WOW.... those cannons !!! In a much smaller 20,000 crowd place. SO LOUD ! SO GOOD ! Damn nice guys in the band. Malcolm was actually the coolest !
My first concert ever was this tour 81. This song and that concert cemented my die hard love for ACDC. Was at the top of the Coliseum and when the cannons when went off. The wind from them was literally blowing the hair out of our faces up there. Can't explain the feeling. But i still feel it all these years later when i listen to this song. Thanks. Sweet memories.
I didn't get to see them til the '91 tour he mentions, but this performance is no comparison to seeing the live in their heyday. As good as this was, the '91 performance I saw was 5x better.
Yeah those cannons got them banned from my local arena for 10 years, they over-loaded the powder charge and cracked the foundation of the building.....God love em. Saw them in 89, and 92 I think, still one of the best concerts i have ever seen.
@@jcbass2u poor guys. Bet they had to pay out the ass for that. I'm near Cincinnati and they tried to ban them from playing there but didn't succeed. It was either the 81 tour or another cant remember the specifics .
Hahahahahaaha Im from Buenos Aires and I went to their concert and till dis day it was the best concert I've ever been too. One of the best days of my life for sure.
Because you have no way home otherwise. I had to leave a metallica concert early. Didnt like it but had no choice otherwise i wouldnt be able to get home for the night.
I remember when i saw these guys live 2006 in Helsinki Finland, audience age range was literally 8 to about 70. Kid next to us was 8 and he was with his dad and when this song went speedier, that little guy started to bang his head like crazy! I loved his passion🤘🤘🤘
The rhythm guitar player Malcolm bought that guitar in the 70s for a couple a hundred bucks and played it pretty much exclusively his whole career and was worth over a hundred million dollars when he died. Not a bad investment.
Yasss one of my favs!!! I saw them live in 2017!!! #longliveangusyoung I get the chills listening to this one and being there live too lol I almost had tears it's a badass show!!!! My mom saw them in 78 and 2017 with us!
Saw these guys in 1984 in Phoenix in an outdoor show. After the song was over they set off the big 4th of july style fireworks from behind the stage. It was my first concert and it was awesome!
My dad tells me the story of when he saw ACDC live years back in an enclosed indoor arena and the canons made him deaf for three days and brought part of the ceiling down! It was an old arena to be fair!
I concur, those canons were insanely loud. Made the mistake of not wearing ear protection my first time and my ears were ringing well into the next day.
Im 50 years old, and my mom took me to see them at the Metropolitan Center (The MET), Bloomington MN in 1981. When those cannons came out, omg! I was rock stuck for 3 days! RIP Mom. Love you.
I have NEVER seen a whole crowd bob and bonce like that! It was literally an "ocean" of people, the way they bobbed and bounced was like the waves and ripples of water's surface.
Been a fan of AC/DC as a kid since the late eighties, but unfortunately have only seen them once live. This same tour, Amsterdam in 2009. Still one of the greatest concerts I've been.
Saw em at Market square arena in Indianapolis in 1985, when they did this song, the cannons were like somebody kicking you in the chest! When the lights came up and everyone was walking out, it was quiet, everyone was shell shocked! What a night!
I saw these guys in 2009 and I was right next to the stage and when those cannons went of it was like a someone knocking the wind out of ya. Best show ever!!
"Back In Black" came out when I was in high school. I saw AC/DC on their "For Those About To Rock" tour. One big cannon on each side of the stage. Great concert.
It's great how you / dad announce these videos with all their love for music. Have a lot of idea and convey it to your children. For the most beautiful thing in the world: music. Please keep it up! 👍
Saw them in Christchurch New Zealand. QEII stadium. The cannon fire echoed off the Sumner hills miles away. Legendary. There will never be another AC/DC. Also, I envy that you can get your teen daughter to sit with you and experience the best days of Rock and Roll. She's cool. Mine just rolls her eyes at me and thinks I'm a has-been.
I've seen these guys a couple of times, once was in Greenville SC, and this was the last song they played; and when they fired off all the cannons at the end of the song, we were so close to the stage we could feel the heat from cannon blasts on our faces- IT WAS AWESOME!🔥 I also saw them at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts the summer of 2010.
This song holds a special place in my heart for a couple of reasons. I saw these guys when I was a teenager in the 80’s and when Desert Storm started, I was stationed in Korea and one of the bars we went to would play this song with a video of tanks firing and every service member in the bar would go crazy.
I first saw AC/DC live December 15th 1983 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. When those cannons went off (being at an indoor venue), the whole arena shook each time. You know that feeling when you’re listening to a song cranked and you can feel the base, it was like that time ten. I wear glasses and even my glasses vibrated each time lol. The ironic thing is that despite the title it’s always the last song because of the cannons. It’s just a great way to close show. I’m one of the lucky fans out there that during their Who Made Who tour (for me and nine other guys in Toronto September 12th, 1983) met AC/DC back stage and we were all dressed like Angus and were on the speakers for the first bit of the song Who Made Who to start the concert. They’re very short (Angus is like 5’3” lol) and surprisingly (except Brian Johnston) very shy! Super guys too! I also met Steven King because he was a judge of the Angus Young look alike contest that was months before the show lol. Anyway, great review!
I saw ACDC first time in 1977 in Hamburg, Germany. Small venue with M. Y. using 20 stacks of Marshall's to kill my childhood eventually. I was 16 and am still thankful for the blast...
My own AC/DC cannon story. Saw them in the late 80s in Shreveport. During this song, one of the cannons malfunctioned. The mechanical part that made the sound and smoke came out of the cannon and landed beside the stage. It was behind the audience barricade, so no one was hurt. It was still attached to a thick electrical cord and still functioned. We were siting on the same side. The next time it fired, it was EXTRA loud. Since it was outside of the fake cannon, there wasn't anything to muffle the sound. It was my first time seeing them. Another person in our group had seen them several times before. She said before we went that AC/DC is always loud. After we left, she confirmed the cannon malfunction, made it twice as loud as usual. It was an experience I will never forget.
The thing about the canons is that the inspiration came a little earlier. I have a few books about Accadacca & during their first tour of Great Britain, the tour bus was travelling down a country road when Malcolm saw an old Howitzer Canon in a farmers paddock. He saw this & thought it would be an idea to save for later on. Observations he made were always taken into consideration for future writing of songs.
I saw them about 5 years ago in Glasgow, the guns on the video are nothing like actually being there, the shock goes through you. Even with ear plugs in it took me 3 days to hear properly again
When Malcolm died and the era of ACDC finally ended, I died inside. I loved Bon so much and when he passed I thought ok, that's it. Then Brian came and did an amazing job! They tasted different at first but in a positive manner and they were still ACDC. Literally any one of the group members were kind of replacable but none of the Young brothers were. Angus was AC, Malcolm was DC. It's impossible to compare them to other artists even within the same genre. ACDC managed to create their very own league in Rock Music.
I got to see these guys in Austin when I was in my high school days. The thing that amazes me is seeing the energy that Angus and the audience are showing, and knowing that this is usually the last song of the concert. How are any of these people still standing? So glad to see that this song passed the awesome test!
I saw this tour in 1981. My very first live show. Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA. I still remember it fondly. We were on the floor just a few rows back from the stage. I’ll never forget. Keep up the great work, love your videos!
Saw them perform in Oldenburg Germany in 1988. And I was In back of the hall buying beer at the time when they were playing this song. I felt the cannons physically. Best concert I have seen by far.
I saw the "for those about to rock" tour at the Baltimore civic center in the early eighties. My first concert. I wore the shirt I got until it fell apart.
Went to the Monsters of Rock at Castle Donnington August 1991where AC/DC headlined. After the gig Donnington received complaints about the cannons shaking windows and frightening pets..... FROM OVER 5 MILES AWAY! My ears were ringing for days after that gig.
Seen these guys live with my dad when i was 10yr old in Melbourne Australia, We were about 30 rows back from the stage on the floor, Ear plugs in the whole time it was so loud and so amazing, halfway thought the show, Security pointed to me and told me and my dad to follow them and they took us all the way to the front of the stage and i got to stand so close as possible for about 20min it was such a nice thing to do. as i kid i was in awe and will never forget that
I saw AC⚡️DC at the Donington Rock Festival in 1991 and they had the canons lined up along the top of the stage. The band were loud as hell that night but not half as loud as them canons. You really can’t tell how loud it is in the videos but we all got absolutely deafened.
im 34 now but i was your daughters age when my parents took me to my first ACDC concert. it was the Australian leg of the Stiff Upper Lip tour, id grown up with ACDC from a baby so it was in my blood, but that first concert, one ill never in my life forget. fun little fact before they were even a well known band, they used to play at our local pubs/bars & would practice at my dads old high school, dad used to help set up & pack up there equipment.
if your never been to a AC/DC concert it is something you have to experience at least once in your life, that was a statement that made me go see them in sydney, that and being a long time australian fan of them.so when they were home in sydney i went to there sydney concert and it was a experience to say the least.it was just like in this video.with thousands in the front of the stage and seats all around the sides and front of the stage
My daughter since she was about 15 collects vinyl she is 22 most young people like downloads or cd's her favs are ac/dc,Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin I can go on .I hope Annie can appreciate that these bands are still around today and gaining new audiences..cheers.
worked on their 'Stiff Upper Lip" tour in Australia ground crew plus front truss followspot operator --- its loud up there but when the cannons go off....WOW love the videos
I have to agree with a lot of comments. I also saw them in a small venue and the ceiling was falling down when cannons would go off...end result AC/DC was banned from playing there ever again....great memories.
Speaking of kids in the audience...I brought my nephew to his first AC/DC concert when he was about 8 yrs old. But I took him to his first ever concert when he was 5. Kiss and Aerosmith. I took him to a lot of shows so he saw Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, Korn, Linkin Park, Metallica, Ozzy, Roger Waters, Paul McCartney, SOAD, before he was 13 yrs old.
AC/DC was my first ever live show as a 13 yr old during the Razor's Edge tour. Unforgettable show and Angus is a global treasure. I respect you trying to teach the ways of good music to your daughter.
I remember being at castle donington in 1991 when ACDC headlined, Metallica,Black crowes, Mötley Crüe and Queensrÿche played also that summers day. ACDC had twenty one cannons on top of the stage for this. What a day!! all for £22.50.
This Show at the Cow Palace in San Francisco was the Loudest Concert ive been to. The Cannons were crazy loud, my ears were ringing for a full day after.
As for the Braveheart or Gladiator question...I have to go with Braveheart. Oh and don't forget about Extreme - More Than Words when it comes to acoustic guitar !!
Saw AC/DC at the open air Bowl in Milton Keynes UK quite a few years ago. Glad I did before it was too late. Absolutely brilliant. The loudest band I ever saw though was Iron Maiden at Brixton Academy in London. An indoor concert and not the biggest venue but again brilliant. I couldn't hear properly for a week after.
i am just 3 years older than he is.. i have a daughter that is 29 now “luckily she loves rock like i do”... when ur daughter said “a little teenager, little kid in the audience”... i immediately thought “yeah, i know, i should have took you to some of these... DAMN”.. haha
the For Those About to Rock tour was my first hard rock concert and the Cars 1st tour was my first. This was the opening song and it blew the roof off the Forum in LA.
Stompie Joe Correction: At the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles they opened with Hell's Bell's and the encores were "For those about to rock" followed by "TNT." It was my first concert as well, three weeks shy of 14 years of age. Phenomenal! They played two nights in a row at the Forum, February 21st Sunday a 22nd Monday. I was there on the 22nd. Both nights had the same set list. And Midnight Flyer was the opening act. They also played the Sports Arena one night on the 23rd and returned to the Forum on the 24th. All sold out. My ears are still ringing to this day.
A 21-gun salute is the most commonly recognized of the customary gun salutes that are performed by the firing of cannons or artillery as a military honor. As naval customs evolved, 21 guns came to be fired for heads of state, or in exceptional circumstances for heads of government, with the number decreasing with the rank of the recipient of the honor.
This song always reminds me of Jack Black in School of Rock !!! I remember growing up w/ my Mom blasting classic RocknRoll ... she was a teen in the late 70s into the early 80s graduated in 83’ i was born in 86’
Saw this original concert at the Capital Center in Washington,D.C Blew me totally away...glad you are teaching her about awesome REAL rock...Enjoyed your review! 1981. Take her to some real concerts. When I saw this in 1981 tickets were $6.95 per tix.
This was just a few blocks away from my home back in those years. I was 19 and I every time I see a video recorded there I regret I didn't attend to that concert... I was studying for college finals, what an idiot I was hahaha.
As a rocker, I was at a festival and watched hey boy, hey girl with the chemical brothers. One of the highlights ever. Soft ground, the bass made the audience kinda go like a wave
I have been on 7 ACDC Concerts and I would visit another 7 if possible. I have seen this concert setup I think in 2009 in Cologne and I have a few blinking horns laying around here in the house. - Cool Video. I hope one day I can visit it together with my two sons.
seeing she likes acoustic, u should do some of the MTV unplugged and yes u so need to do some edc grew up on that too going to raves in the 90 early 2000

Patrick Armbruster thank god somebody said it!!
I thought he said that the song was AFTER the black album !

i luckily checked comments before i made any comments. duuuuhhh is the only explative you should of added.
Yes indeed
I wouldn’t trust fans who left an AC/DC concert early lol. I’ve seen them 3 times and could not imagine leaving early
People who leave an AC/DC gig too early should be sentenced to death.
WHY!!!...would you leave a AC/DC concert early
1ghobie people are idiots.
Leave early? That is a sin, punishable by death!
I was at Donnington '91, left 3 days later.
It puts a smile on my face and a tear in my eye at the same time to see Malcolm Young. He was not just the power rhythm behind the music but he was also such a good person. RIP MALCOLM!

River Plate 2009, Buenos Aires, Argentina; best Ac-Dc concert ever!
Let There Be Rock..... Paris, '79 is a great one as well.
i have to disagree , best live concert glasgow 1978 where if you want blood was recorded. they never ever got that raw sound back after that.
Live in Donnington 1991 is the best sound, but River plate is the best audience (in my opinion)
Indeed they killed it and the crowd killed it too

So many people lost their voices at these concerts their so hype their insane AC/DC is legend man
Its the crowd, the smoke, the lights, the energy is felt through everyone. These show rocked. Play her thunder strikes if you haven't already.
i am 24 years old and i went to see them in são paulo, brazil in 2009, it was the best thing that ever happened to me
My daughter since she was about 15 collects vinyl she is 22 most young people like downloads or cd's her favs are ac/dc,Iron Maiden and Led Zeppelin I can go on .I hope Annie can appreciate that these bands are still around today and gaining new audiences..cheers.
worked on their 'Stiff Upper Lip" tour in Australia ground crew plus front truss followspot operator --- its loud up there but when the cannons go off....WOW love the videos
I can testify that when this song plays live you can still hear the cannons about a week later! AWESOME EXPERIENCE!
Yup, Nuno Bettencourt can tear it up on the Acoustic.
From canada, well done dad, my daughter will be old enough soon, A takeaway from this is to rock to your own rhythm.Cheers to both of you
Saw AC/DC at the open air Bowl in Milton Keynes UK quite a few years ago. Glad I did before it was too late.
Absolutely brilliant.
The loudest band I ever saw though was Iron Maiden at Brixton Academy in London.
An indoor concert and not the biggest venue but again brilliant.
I couldn't hear properly for a week after.
I thought the Hampton Coliseum was gonna come down. Probably the best concert I’ve ever been to. Definitely the loudest.
angus love how he jams he headbangs through the whole song never missing a cored
You had to be there. You could feel the energy building and it just blew up with the last "salute you". Unstoppable.
Saw them in Memphis around 82, for those about to rock, cannons knocked tiles out of the coliseum roof!bad ass!
Beautiful reaction. This is ARGENTINA!!!!🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
i am just 3 years older than he is.. i have a daughter that is 29 now “luckily she loves rock like i do”... when ur daughter said “a little teenager, little kid in the audience”... i immediately thought “yeah, i know, i should have took you to some of these... DAMN”.. haha
even more amazing is this performance came after they have been playing on stage for an hour and 48 mins, plus angus just played a 15 min solo
the For Those About to Rock tour was my first hard rock concert and the Cars 1st tour was my first. This was the opening song and it blew the roof off the Forum in LA.
Stompie Joe
Correction:
At the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles they opened with Hell's Bell's and the encores were "For those about to rock" followed by "TNT."
It was my first concert as well, three weeks shy of 14 years of age.
Saw them with Bon once and several times with Brian....an experience no one could understand if you were not there... energy is unreal
Great song and Great reaction as well. AC/DC is one of my favorite groups
This song always reminds me of Jack Black in School of Rock !!!
I remember growing up w/ my
Mom blasting classic RocknRoll ... she was a teen in the late 70s into the early 80s graduated in 83’ i was born in 86’
Oh yeah, Bryan Johnson has that distinct ( Constipated on a Toilet Voice! ) I LOVE IT! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Glad to see this. I did the same with my daughter. Not her fav but much respect. She grew up with this. Ty for carrying on
This is one of my top AC/DC songs. I'm glad she's enjoying.
Saw this original concert at the Capital Center in Washington,D.C Blew me totally away...glad you are teaching her about awesome REAL rock...Enjoyed your review! 1981. Take her to some real concerts. When I saw this in 1981 tickets were $6.95 per tix.
Getting some of that crowd mentality is the best feeling, you definitely have to take Annie to one.
Brings back memories of seeing them on many tours...
I hope one day I can visit it together with my two sons.
seeing she likes acoustic, u should do some of the MTV unplugged and yes u so need to do some edc grew up on that too going to raves in the 90 early 2000
psychonerd13 nirvana, Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains unplugged were 🙌🏻 chefs kiss 🤣
Soda Stereo
I saw them on Halloween night 1989 in Lubbock Texas. At the end the cannons went off and cracked the dome of the coliseum. It was so loud.
When I was 15 back in 1981 I saw doing the tour for this album. This song was the finale with real cannons. Made an indefinable impact on me.
I love the interactions you have with your kids. It's fun to watch.
