Youre who i rely on for the 100 percent real steelers news. And i can feel you depression and realization that this team just isnt good enough and i sadly just agree with you. If everything goes right we lose in the 2nd round. Over and out
2nd round is the absolute ceiling. And if the Texans weren’t playing as bad as they are right now, no one would think they could beat them either. The Steelers are the poster team for mediocrity and Tomlin is their King. They will NEVER compete for a SB as long as Mediocre Mike is on the sidelines.
I'm tired of hearing about Mahomes, Allen, Lamar... Burrow... not having a QB is a resentful experience. As a follower of the team...I'm getting disappointed with the false hope of having a good team that can contend. Its a pipe dream, making me question everything about the team. This is year 5 of 3 in a row December losses... Its painful to watch the team get to 10 wins and fall apart when it matters.
If you are disappointed, I get it. Me too but this team is better - top 10 team but not top 6 -KC, Philly, Balt, Buf, Det, Min. We have below Ave QB, average OL, lack of quality receivers and our two best and highest paid defenders not making splash plays.
So true. We will not be contenders until we have a franchise QB, it’s just that simple. Those teams you listed weren’t sniffing a Super Bowl until those guys arrived.
Now let's somehow draft Amos out of Ole Miss or Porter out of Iowa St. In round two of the 2025 draft, keep Pierre as CB4/gunner, cut Sutton, draft Bowman as a slot safety (Kazee replacement) in round 4 and the secondary is hopefully a strength going forward.
O-line has stunk for years. They draft people and move them to positions they've never played. Tomlin hires yes men. Those 2 things alone are a recipe for success. Not. Tomlin is long past his expiration date
Does anyone think this team is better after they allocate most of their upcoming cap room to a QB whose arm is failing, throws to boundary, & doesn't see your 10 mil/year TE? Corey Trice impressed the hell out of me. One of few bright spots of defense.
Matt, what do you think the plan of attack should be for the offseason? It’s clear we need cornerback help, should we pursue someone like DJ Reed? Omar signing PQ seems to have opened the door for larger free agency splash. Love the show!
Every given Sunday, anything is possible in the playoffs, but the Steelers seem done after watching them get dismantled for the past three games by top tier teams. I'm already thinking of draft. I hope they move Pickens. Also, we need to not be the highest paid defense. We can bring the salaries down some and probably do just as good or bad, however you look at it. We need help on the o line bad. Idk about Russell Wilson now. He holds ball way too long and we giving up more sacks than i can remember. Maybe we dont need to be signing him for crazy money. His play definitely giving us reasons to rethink that signing.
Everytime the Steelers get stomped, the time to throw is really low. They just allow quick slants, drags and outs all day long and give up 5+ yards each time
The more I see of Russ the more I wish we got off Fields. Also no matter how good people think Trice might be I hope to god they don’t act like he is the answer as starter next year. This secondary is on life support and needs better scheme AND an infusion of top end talent badly. Especially at corner
The more I see Russ and Fields, the more I wish they kept Pickett and flushed the coaching staff. Mike Tomlin doesn’t have a clue on how to use or develop a QB. He was gifted a HOF franchise Ben. Ben’s the only reason he has any playoff wins and the one ring. 18 years of being the HC, name ONE QB outside of Ben that Tomlin drafted/developed.
I think everyone was excited for Russ when he started after injury. I've always said I preferred Justin. I think he was improving from his time in Chicago and he was taking care of the ball. If we would have stuck with him and let him grow into the offense I think we could possibly be in the same situation (as far as record) as were in now and had a better outlook on the position for next year. There's no way I would resign Russ.
Justin sucks too. There isn’t a QB on the roster that should come back next year. You want to pay for Fields, but you were ready to hang Pickett? Pathetic.
@@jordellfreshbreeze7133 - I agree, Fields is better than KP… also, the offense under Fields was only marginally better than with KP having most of his games resulting in under 300 yards of offense. In the end, neither are of the level the Steelers need to compete - more potential with JF but I hate talking about potential after the first 3 years in the league as it’s most likely wishful thinking at that point.
It's time. I'm tired of the same old garbage, same old looking unprepared and getting embarrassed. Tomlin needs to go, and so does 80% of the coaching staff.
One of the problems with Fields were some statistics showing turnover worthy plays. His was becoming higher as the games went on. This was especially troubling when you consider that he wasnt really throwing it downfield. We know that the more you throw it downfield the chances of turnovers are higher just from the sheer number of oppourtunities. With turnover worthy plays, they have trends to show that this play or that play had a high likelihood of being a turnover. The fact that it didnt could be variables, like just luck, but the play itself is looked at as simply a bad play. Overall, this showed people that his low turnover rate was an anomoly and a regression to the mean is inevitable. None of this means that it was for sure going to happen, but it showed some people that his stats didnt match his play. Russell on the other hand had a really low turnover worthy play rate, which meant that regardless of the outcome of the play, it was the "correct play". The fact that hes having turnovers now, could be seen in many different ways. It could be argued that hes getting incredibly unlucky as not all turnover worthy plays result in turnovers. It seems to some that Russell's "luck" has no margin for error vs Fields luck having an incredibly high margin for error. Both are expected to regress to the mean.
You talked about Russ, the height, the decision making, etc. I dont think Rudolph was great, but I do think he was someone who stood tall, got the ball out and showed enough last year to get a shot this year. I dont think its absurd to assume he couldve gotten this team to 10-6. I certainly believe he couldve had better chemistry with the receivers and he could actually SEE receivers running free (the point about height). I still wonder who the future franchise QB will be, or how the Steelers can find him.
Don’t finish in the middle. Draft no later than pick 10 or 11 depending on how many QB’s in a given class. Unfortunately even that’s no guarantee. They hit the jackpot with Ben, but there are tons of QB’s drafted in top 10 who are busts or simply serviceable starters.
That's an interesting piece about home teams and Christmas. It got me thinking, well how has that bore out over the years? I looked it up. This game against the Chiefs showed the short comings of the Steelers in certain areas. There will be upgrades but not enough through the draft alone. The Steelers need to replace Wilson because he Is not the answer at QB.

3 games in 11 days just isn’t right. Other teams do it too etc, a bunch of Malarkey. You can’t tell me a schedule like that doesn’t take away from preparation and practice time. I’m glad that stretch is over. Back to the Xs and Os. If we can’t improve on defense then the offensive mentality needs to change.
How is cam Sutton so bad lol. He was pretty good with us before. Our defense is stacked on paper. I don’t understand. Other teams do more with less… like the chiefs
Wilson is and should be the only backer that should control our destiny bar injury. The problem isn't Wilson but the five line front. Straighten this porous non-protection front five to change the out come. They couldn't stop a good 4 man pass rush of a major highs hool program the last three losses. Let the quarterback win WITH PROTECTION without injuries and not the end of our chances. Fields should remain out of the game. He's as cold as a witches t. He's THE WRECKING CREW nothing more. If he's used pull the covers over our heads. An non-porous offensive line is what the team will feed off not some rooky whose known to throw interception(s) per game that would kill any defence. I don't know who's worse...the 49ers De'Vondre Campbell or George Pickens with his passive-aggressive, borderline personality disorder? GP14 had no business near the "CHIEFS" post-game Netflix interview. Not going full go on plays, taking off his helmet during the game, and the list continues to go on from week to week. He's an uncontrollable problem on the football field. No way he should have the entire Steelers organization stuck-up with his weapon of volatile antics. No way should the Steelers be forced to depend on the unstable and immature mindset of this guy (and good Lord, who decided to make this guy WR1). May as well make a deal with the 49ers and add De'Vondre Campbell and keep GP14 on weekly suspension. Outstanding WR skills, substandard thought process.
I see two sides to this coin: This was his MO prior to drafting him and then they did so knowing they were pairing him with KP and Canada in an offense that MT wants to be very conservative and then followed up with AS that’s really run heavy. Then they out him in a WR led by Diontae who had the single biggest “pouty quit play” I’ve ever seen and there was no public punishment, meanwhile, Chuks makes an offhand comment about quitting on a play and is benched for the rest of the season and released afterwards. In a lot of ways, I see this as the bed they made. I don’t disagree with your points, rather, I see getting rid of him as putting a band-Aid on the symptom instead of treating the cause.

Will not be surprised if we draft a rb this draft
This guy says Wilson is doing bad but fail to mention he is doing bad because the offensive line is getting him hit sooner then he wants.
If that's the case, the ball needs to come out faster. Either russ needs to stop holding onto it or the scheme needs to draw up quick pass plays.
Agree - Russ holds on too long and is made worse that we don't have WRs getting separation.
Great last point, Matt. I head the same thing for Thanksgiving games and it makes sense. Even the Lions struggled with the Bears this year.
