The Film “History of Yoga-the Path of my Ancestors” is a 6000 year journey into origin, evolution & development of yoga. Six years of extensive research, filming; contribution of 30 eminent scholars; 35000 kms travel, 137 locations to record from 84 Archaeological sites, 37 Museums, Libraries, Temples & Shrines. The story explores the elements of Yoga in Harappa Civilization, Veda, Jainism, Buddhism, Sufism, Hath-Yogic practices of medieval times & other peripheral doctrines. The film ends in 19th century where modern science acknowledges the potential of yoga in a new light. India's magnificent Iconography, Temple Art, Diverse Culture & Ancient Relics, Wall paintings, Manuscripts unfold with wisdom of yoga in this path defining Documentary.
The film had 100s of successful shows across India, Europe, USA & Canada including many premier Institutions like IITs, IIMs, IISc, IIC, NCPA, BHU, Major Yoga centers in India & outside and MIT, IOWA state Univ, UIUC, LMU, Google HQ etc 31 places in USA & many more abroad.
Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India had screened it at All its Indian Missions Abroad on Intl Yoga Day 2015 and IYD 2016.
National Television Channels of India, DD National, DD Bharati & Lok Sabha TV has Telecast it on IDY 2017.
Ayush Ministry, GoI, had placed the trailer on their official website with PMs video in 2018. All Govt schools & Colleges of several Indian states have been gifted with the DVD & have screened the film.
His radiant smile at the end of the video just about brought me to tears! What an absolutely amazing man, truly a gift from God to humanity. I also smiled at what BKS meant years ago to students: "Beating, Kicking and Shouting." :) I started Iyengar Yoga classes about 30 years ago, and found it rigid and disciplinary, very stern. I did not like it. But the years have gone by and I realize that trying to achieve the best posture is ideal, BUT we must allow our inner voice and guidance system to achieve it. And it requires DEEP RELAXATION during every minute of Yoga practice, and never an iron will. Not even the best Yoga teacher can or will be better than the great Aathma within us. THAT is the greatest Yoga teacher.

I began yoga in the 70s under a BKS Iyengar tutor and find what you say is absolutely true. He is right about the postures and practice. It’s relaxation and looking within and listening to within to show you the way. Union of body mind, I was always racing ahead with my mind and expecting my body to obey.

We need your beating guruji to bring beauty of yoga, missing you, when I opened my eyes in yoga you left to heaven, now I only have your teachings in books and videos. These days yoga is getting commercialized, but I have not lost hope, i will try to learn yoga to the core, wherever you are bless me with your teachings and beat me, kick me if I am not following and practicing yoga correctly.

What book is he talking about?
Indian philosophies are not based on one book but several over a period of centuries by the realized human beings. The others, Abrahamic religions believe in one book, he is referring to that. The difference.
The very state of the single mind is subjective to artificial meanings so when one is introduced to a holy experience he becomes temporarly sick. Fatigued . So improving ones asanas he can become single minded. Walk on two legs but single minded. 😮😮
