Get a pex fitting with a sodier side to put to the copper cos that sharkbite will not last forver .

It doesn’t have to last forever. When I have the time and extra money, I will end up re-piping the entire property with pex. So there is no need to. But thank you for the tip.

Just wanted to mention push connections should be temporary

@@jamesbutler4877 That’s a fair statement I guess. I worked with a plumber for 2 years and they did the sodier one, copper to pex fitting, like you said, is the best option for a permanent fix.5 years and beyond probably do the best option. But in my case, the shark bite fitting is the best option because I’m going to reroute and redo the entire house through the ceiling because it’s a slab and has copper in the slab. I don’t want or care to jackhammer on this one. The shark bite fitting that I used is good for many people in many situations, and is probably the best option for a homeowner, considering that soldering takes quite a bit of skill and would cost more money to buy the stuff just to do the fitting and the fitting will also cost money as well, I agree with you 100% though. I just don’t want everybody to see it and think that the shark bite fitting I used is no good because it is good in mannny situations and is the easiest fix for anyone. As long as it’s not intended for a very long time. Or they could fix it, and when it leaks, they could fix it again easy no problem opposed to the soldering.

I don't think code always to to use push connect fittings behind a finished wall and I understand I've used for a quick temporary fixmyself .

Maybe, maybe not, depending on your location. In my case the wall is not closed and the fittings now accessible. That way I can see it’s performance and get to it fast and easy. Thanks for the info!

The shark bite fittings are 100% allowed for permanent behind wall use by the manufacturer and code. The fittings you are thinking of that are not allowed behind walls are compression fittings. In fact you even bury shark bite fittings underground as long as you use the manufacturer approved sealing tape to wrap the fittings.

Shark bite behind the wall not a good idea

@@johnjobber2219 These shark bites would not be inside a wall. They would be inside the box friend.
