This played in cobra kai season 3 when Daniel was in the car on the way to the village, remembering his time in Okinawa. Made me cry, even though shows and stuff usually dont.

Me too. When this played in Cobra Kai, something just filled me up...Mixture of nostalgia, longing and a profoundly deep feeling. Seeing Daniel looking out of his car reminiscing his time in Okinawa with Mr. Miyagi and Kumiko was so touching. Such a great score!! Without any exaggeration, Karate Kid story made day to day life into such a deep and profound spiritual experience and gave meaning to Master Disciple relationship. Cobra Kai did a miracle, after so many years, by continuing that essence with Johnny & Miguel. Karate Kid was about ancient eastern wisdom of Mr. Miyagi and Cobra Kai is about Johnny struggling and reviving himself after years of suffering and teaching the next generation through prism of his experience and in his own western style.

Same, even though it was my dads era but he showed me and my siblings the sequels when we were growing up so it was a different type of nostalgic presence when we all sat down to watch the show

5 years since I’ve lost my mom. I’m at the beach in Hawaii wanting to send off her memorial lantern. The wind is blowing, so I may not be able to do it tonight. I miss her and this music gives me solace. I was lucky to have her in my life and blessed that she was my mother.

"you know when my father died i spent a lot of time thinking i wasn't a good son: maybe i could have listened a little more, spent a little more time with him. I always felt so guilty like he did everything for me and i didn't do nothing for him: than one day i realized i did the best thing for me before he died.than one day I realized i did the perfect thing for him before he died. i was there with him and I held his hand and i said goodbye."

The words Daniel spoke in this scene broke my heart. I felt the same with my father. He was unconscious for 2 weeks. They said he would go at any time. I came. I was on my knees holding his hand and praying aloud and talking to him. He opened his eyes and turned to me. And he moved his lips. A kissing movement. I kissed him on the lips for the first time in my life. Because I knew with all my heart that he thought I was my mother. I always sounded like her and still look like her when she was young. He was confused. Almost 70 years together. She was the sun, the moon, and the stars in his sky. I couldn't let him down. Afterwards, he closed his eyes. It killed me inside. He died the next day. She was the only thought in his head to his last breath. I was never so fortunate in love. I spoke of it in his eulogy. I spoke of it in her's months later. I know he did not want to watch her die, so he left first and waited for her. Watching. Waiting. Loving. She had ovarian cancer for 15 years. They're together now. I lost them both last year within months of each other. Knowing they're together is all that keeps me going. Her, I barely spoke to for the last year, for very good reason mind you. She did something horrible when I was a teenager. She knowingly put me in harms way. It continued for years because of her. I was scarred emotionally. I buried it for decades. And then it came back, and I couldn't bury it again. But still. It was wrong. She was my mother. Good and bad. I carry that guilt as a lodestone on my heart.

This piece was such a powerful 1.
It's both sad & nostalgic at the same time & I like how we get to hear this in Cobra Kai season 3, when Daniel gets driven to Tomi Village.
Man, was it a surprise what we saw of modern day Tomi Village.
