Gee Russ, since you so excitedly announced the update you forgot to mention that this update Added support for automatically activating the US Remote ID only when the aircraft is used with an Intelligent Flight Battery Plus, but does it actually turn off when using a 249 g battery? No other UA-cam channel mentioned it either, I watched hours of videos and someone should have mentioned this, yes I know it would make it go over 249 g but its hardly any extra weight at all. Really sucks. Ok thanks I off shopping for lighter batteries.
I went out and purchased today $1600.00 worth of DJI Mini 4 pro with the plus battery fly more combo and did not realize that it would turn on RID when using the plus batteries. Kind of sucks really, If i would have known that I would have just purchased the DJI Air 3 fly more combo being that now I still have to register my Mini 4 pro due to only a couple ounces of extra weight. I have a Mavic and wanted the Mini 4 so I would not have to register another drone so now I have to buy 3 more standard batteries.

Does this update disable the Remote ID if used with standard battery? Wonder if plus battery for Mini 3 would have any effect on this, if so.
@@Poophead1 If I understand it correctly and it does what they say, It should turn off when using the standard 249 g battery and only turn on when using the the Plus Battery. As for the Mini 3 Plus batteries I don't know if they will force it on or not, but with the technology we have today and all batteries have control chips in them so it more than likely will turn the Remote ID on when using any Plus battery, but who knows.
If I had known the plus battery was going to turn on Remote ID and force me to register my Mini Drone I would have never purchased the Plus Combo. I did today have a start up error that said (REMOTE ID ERROR) not sure what that was about.
@@wmnapier Purchasing the Plus Combo was always going to force you to register, no change there. Prior to this update, the mini 4 always broadcast RID, so if you have the plus batteries, as you do, RID was going to be broadcast before this update and after. No change. What has changed, for the better for recreational fliers, is that when using the std batteries, RID will no longer be broadcast as its not required.
Hugely excited for the air 3 update, was beginning to wonder if DJI had forgotten this drone but this is a great update 👍🏻👍🏻

This is Awesome, active track 360 vision assist and doin panoramas with the 70mm lens and being abomb to zoom in photomodes are the only 4 things really wanted and now they all came
That looks like tons of fun. I've been flying a Mini 3 at 250 degrees/second for angular velocity. It's easier than you'd think to flip it out of the sky. I think slowing in revers flips the drone enough to shut-off the props. That motion controller probably prevents the flipping-shut-down I found when playing. Now I use N mode or slow the angular velocity back to 130d/s before flying high-up.

Thanks, Russ. I had forgotten the Mini 3 Pro was also compatible with the motion controller and goggles. I just picked one up from a friend (so I could have a less-expensive drone for those riskier shots around the lakes and something really lightweight for lugging around all day on vacation. Off to check Marketplace for the goggles and controller.
I also couldn't figure out how to get my Vision Assist back on the Mavic 3 Pro, so thanks for mentioning that!

The Air 3 has been a long time coming! When Action Track 360 cane on Mini 4 Pro, there were over a dozen threads begging for it on Air 3 over on DJI Forums. 11 of them were mine!

Awesome updates. I like the idea of having to use the stick and goggles. Although, I've never used that on any drone, it's great. I've flown helicopters before, but I still think it's a little different when it comes to drones.

You’re absolutely right. You actually feel like you’re IN the drone when you’re flying FPV ! I bought the DJI FPV because I was finding that flying my MA2, and my other drones too, just by looking at my phone, was NOT giving me the feeling of real flight. Not long after I bought the DJI FPV, I picked up the motion controller for it. It’s awesome ! I’m bummed that my MA2 and Mini 2 aren’t updated too. 😢
The new improvement now in the lower price drone makes lower price drone more valuable. Now, more than ever I don't need the high price drone when I now have all the bells & whistle. The part that I like is the Vision Assist. It will help me a lot.
Im still useing the mini 2 , i was thinking about getting a new one, well maybe this summer ill do that, looks pritty cool

Mostly excited for the vision assist on my air 3, but it’s nice having consistent features across both the mini 4 and air 3 now. Since I use both for different jobs. Also excited about zooming in photos but I mostly take them in 48MP so I guess I’ll finally shift back after holding out even though others said they didn’t like the 48mp ones as much.. either way. Lastly if the air 3 got the auto paths for active track did it also get the little path indicator like the mini 4 pro released with? Where you can draw the path it takes to move positions while in Active track?

The mini pro 4 is my second drone. I activated it yesterday on Christmas. It has been raining for the last two days here.
I chose to go with Amazon's replacement rather than care refresh. It appears to me to have better terms than DJI's.

That'll be right, I just only about 3 hours ago order a pair on nreal glasses to use with my Mini 4 Pro ... its for the best, goggles would make them pretty much illegal everywhere here in Australia
Hey, great work on the video! I have a quick question regarding the bottom obstacle sensors. With the DJI Mini 4, you're able to fly with the Drone chest height and use active track. With other drones when you activate active track, the Drone automatically flies further behind you slightly upward to about 12 ft. I'm sure this is a safety feature or something. However, when the DJI Mini 4 Pro came out, you were able to finally get active track video shots of yourself at a normal video recording height that looks like someone is recording you with a handheld camera which is absolutely awesome. However, my mavic 3 Pro doesn't do this. I know this update is coming to the mavic 3 Pro soon, but with the update the air 3 just got, are you able to fly chest or face height and still use active track? Thanks!

I do like the ability to use the goggles, done it with the mini3pro. But it is painful to switch back and forth between regular controllers and goggles. At least for me. Perhaps a video about that would be useful. Thanks
Saw some amazing videos done with DJI Avata. Do you have any thoughts about the Avata? The protective casings for the props looks like a great innovation.
Great video, I was also excitedly waiting for the goggles support, like the Mini 3 Pro. However, when would someone actually use the visual assist in real life? I mean, if you have all the other feedback about obstacles, would you stop and switch to one of the sensor cameras? I am struggling to see when I would use that. Thanks
Thanks Russ! Brilliant presentation of all these newly added features! Still a little heartbroken that my Mini 3 Pro did not get to have all this. The same thing happened when I purchased my Air 2. The Air 2s came out and had all the trimmings so I've been left behind twice by DJI. I keep wondering if DJI will come out with an A3s and do the same. Deep down, I don't see that happening because they have given so much to the Mini 4 Pro and the Air 3. All this drives me crazy! I'll likely skip the Mini 4 Pro (even though I like the added goggle feature) and go with the Air 3. Thanks again and happy holidays!

Hey there great video about update ..... maybe you can explain how to use the 3x 70mm camera to do panarama sphere or 180 .It seems the djy fly app does not stitch photos like it does using the regular camera .Have you tried using the 3x camera doing pano sphere or 180 .If you have a solution or advise would be extremely helpful.I have looked for vidros on how to make it work on you tube with no luck .....hope you have a great new year cheers from Canada
Hi Russ. Great job on the drone front. I am primarily a still photographer shooting landscapes in Utah. (Lucky me.) I was disappointed to hear the Air 3 Zoom feature requires 12M shooting. Leaves me out, but I will wait for future upgrades with my fingers crossed. Also, the still shots on the Air 3 are noisier than on the Air 2 using 48M. Must be the new sensor, which again I hoped would be better.

What would be good is auto home point update would be handy to have when filming from a moving vehicle
Can the motion controller be used as kind of "beacon", so you can fly (or at least enable activetrack) without having to use the controller or goggles? So similar to the beacon on the skydio r2. Would be great for activetracking while biking.
Can you edit the firmware on mini's yet? Kinda hesitant to buy a drone I cannot control.

Another important thing to mention is the new firmware update, automatically activates remote ID on the mini four Pro, when using the extended flight battery in the US.
No, it does the opposite , at least in terms of a change. It doe NOT any longer activate remote id broadcast when using the standard battery

Merry Christmas to all as well. I own a DJI Air 2S and have no intention of replacing it. I wish DJI would offer the possibility of using the Air 2S and other drones with the new DJI Goggles 2 and the new DJI RC Motion 2. By not making them compatible, they are forcing us to buy a new drone and dispose of the previous one, which is always a problem and a loss of money. In my case, DJI is going to lose a customer, because I will not upgrade my drone to another version nor will I buy the new DJI Goggles 2 and the DJI RC Motion 2 until they make them compatible with the Air 2S.

They won’t make anything for the air2s, air2s is outdated and they won’t update it, it’s sad but that’s what it is
I like the Air 3 photo zoom, vision assist and active track 360° the most. The Panorama is nice as well. Enjoy.
I'm very new to drones and only recently bought a Mini 4 Pro. I'm so new I've only flown it three or four times. Right from the beginning I was drawn to FPV so seeing these updates is exciting and after I master regular flight I intend to get into it. This will just make it easier. I do have a question though. If you're flying FPV aren't you required to have a second person present as a spotter for line of sight? Thanks.
A spotter is required, as the goggles do not allow for VLS. It’s too bad Russ didn’t do this, or even mention it. 🫤

They need to add that is on the pro 3. So we don't have to stop recording to change cameras on the air 3.
I tried the avata a few months back with the goggles. I didn’t like it and sent it back. The goggles screen was grainy like the old picture tube tvs where. Maybe there was something wrong with it or is that normal? The avata only had about 15 min flight time before it would give low battery warnings. I just got mini 4 pro a week ago and loving the longer flight times and better camera. Now I’m tempted to get the goggles again and try them out with the mini 4 pro. Any advice would be appreciated.
Feb 26th, have a question, hopefully I didn't miss the answer...when flying any of the new ocusync 4 drones that are compatible with the integra goggles and motion controller 2 , are they using ocusync 4 or 3? since the goggles were originally designed for ocusync 3 I was just curious.

Any advice if you own an Air 3 but not very far from a radio tower? Is it possible flying at my home? I never had an issue with my Air 2s, but seldomly flown it. DJI Air 2s was my first drone own it about 2yrs and that is the length of time I’ve ever flown a drone. I’m a beginner.
