Thank you Katie, I can highly recommend it. It's stood the test of time and is a nice size. There is also a smaller version in the book too. I'll be making a new one for myself soon xx
Karen, am a couple days behind, I have a fun memory to share. One year I made my 2 brothers a dozen briefs ( pants) but I got bored sewing white jersey, so I used navy jersey with orange stitching, velour, a tricot, and in general had a blast. Turns out each brother had his favorites. It’s a great idea, pants for the men in our lives. Thanks
Oh I love this!! How fun that they each had a favourite pair. I'm looking forward to seeing my husband's reaction to the boxers lol. I'll report back! It's so great for using up scraps of fabric too ☺️ xx
Thanks Sue, I also use mine all the time...I don't think you can ever have too many either, always need them for different projects. Thanks so much for watching and commenting 😀 xx
Thanks Bridget, I do like having lots of crafting books. I've requested some more for Christmas, so I'll be sharing a video all about what books I have and a short review on them xx
Thanks for sharing all the lovely inspirations! May I just add another idea for the needle cases: I made smaller ones with different fabric types on the inside, just cut out with my rigg rag scissors, Jersey, cotton, leather... To put in the used needles of your sewing machine when you switch them. So you will quickly find the right type of needle again. Very helpful and it looks really nice! Love your channel, all the best from Germany
@@nataliab8530 hiya! Oh thanks so much, so glad you enjoyed this video. What a fantastic idea for the sewing machine needles. I’m always forgetting what I have used and what I’m currently using in my machine. Thank you for that 😊 xx
Thank you...great I'll definitely share all my books then. I'm getting a few more for Christmas too, so perhaps I'll do two vlogs and split them into dressmaking books and crafting books xx
Love all these ideas, lots of different things. I have the Kath Kidson book & a lot of the things from the German author’s book you showed look very similar to the Debbie Shore book. Great video Karen.😊
Thank you Ali, I love having books like these, you can guarantee to find a nice gift to make. I don't have any Debbie shore books, although I did take one out of the library recently ☺️ xx
Hi Karen, I have all the Tilda books and have made up lots of beautiful gifts from it. I think Tone Finnegar is Norwegian. You are right that reading the book makes you want to sew everything!
Thank you Mary, yes you're right she is Norwegian! She has some lovely projects in her book. I'll definitely revisit these patterns now I've been reminded. I hadn't picked up the books in awhile xx
Love the pin cushion idea, I have a lot of old chunky bangles so think I might swap the wooden ring out for a bangle 😊 I also glued my ready made pincushion to the top of my pattern clips jar, which keeps them together but the lid acts as a good balancing structure when at the machine 😊
Thanks very much, it's a nice make that pin cushion. Fab idea for using a bangle! Oh yes, I can imagine that's very useful with the clip jar. I have made a pin cushion before that sits on the top of a jar, it was one of those kilner jars where the top of the lid comes apart xx
Brilliant ideas. I love your needle holders. I think I will make one for myself for keeping sewing machine needles I am using /switching etc I made a good few infinity scarfs this year. I also included them in my video:) My daughter loves to put pins in colour order too:)
Thank you!! Glad you've taken some inspiration from this video. They are great little needle cases. I love the infinity scarf pattern...I need to make more as I wear mine a lot. Lol, it's funny isn't it when they sort them out! Thanks so much for watching and commenting xx
@@sewlittletime are your boys getting annoyed with you for messing pins up after they sorted them out? I got big speech about putting things were belong from Alice. Actually it was a shorter version if my giving out about mess in her room and not putting toys/clothes away 🙈 Kids are soo funny
Thank you for this vlog, some great ideas there. I have all the Tilda books and they are great for looking through when your sewjo is low… I currently have the bag project on my cutting table ready to make a start on. Xxx
You're welcome, I enjoyed making this vlog and it refreshed my memory for some of the lovely projects available in those books. I need to dust them off and get using them again. I have quite a few of the Tilda books - so many lovely thing to make. I've asked Santa for a few more books for Christmas too, so I'm thinking of sharing all the books on a vlog soon xx
I really enjoyed this Karen. I own all of the Tilda books and Poppy’s. I’ve recently up scaled (by hand) the house door stop pattern in Poppy’s book, as the patterns aren’t full size, but not got around to choosing fabric yet. It was lovely to revisit the Tilda books. I recognised your old pin cushion was tilda, how did you get a wooden ring big enough to fit? Or is it smaller than it looks on film. X
Thanks Claire, glad you enjoyed it. Getting those books out reminded me of all the lovely things I want to make! I'm pretty sure I got the wooden ring from panduro hobby...it was one of the shops listed in the books, but they've since closed down. You can get these rings online still though. Just Google Tilda wooden ring. There are two different sizes...a small and large and that's the large I've used for the pin cushion xx
I’m a little late to the party! I think you have some great ideas. Thanks for all the links. Please tell me what a snood is. Is it like a hoodie, just not attached to anything, that you can wear like a scarf but pull it up to cover your head? What are the dimensions of yours? I’m sure everyone loved your gifts!
Hiya, thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed it. A snood is more of a neck warmer. The free pattern and tutorial are on the apple green cottage website and it comes in 3 sizes...you need just 2 pieces of jersey fabric or fleece the largest size requirement is 25" x 9" per piece (64cm x 23cm). The infinity scarf measurements and tutorial is also on that website xx
Hi Judith, yes I did make it, it's the infinity scarf. There are measurements on the apple green cottage website. I might have included the link in the description of this video xx
I have never before seen a pin cushion that I would ever consider making, but I would make one like yours.
