    Guys, I’ve got a bunch of these conte a Paris graphite and pierre noire pencils. Now I want to see what other stuff this brand has😂

    Oh wow the core is so thick 😮! Congratulations on almost reaching 5K subscribers 👏🏻!! These pencils would definitely be good to cover big spaces! They work really well with for the landscape too! Such a calming nature scene 😍! Yay for finding a scrap piece of paper. The charcoal shows up so well with the paper being on the tan side. The tree branch turned out good too! Perfect scenes since it’s officially Fall time 🍁🍂! 💖

      Thank you!💙 I should really do more calming landscape scenes☺ I love fall (its my favorite season!) so more of these to come!

    Conte pencils are fairly common here. I definitely prefer carbon over charcoal because it's less messy. I really like that landscape and the tree branch! I always unintentionally smudge charcoal everywhere, lol.

      I like them and now I'm considering trying out some more types of conte pencils. I'm still confused what the Pierre Noire is formulated with, because they also have an entirely separate carbon pencil too lol. And thank you- I'll just call it tree branch + dust😂

    Conte of Paris also does pastel pencils I have a bunch. As for carbon and charcoal pencils I love working with them myself.

    nice looking landscape 😀
    I usually use Conte crayons, they work great for sketching or adding colour if needed to a piece. I think we had a bunch of these pencils at college for life drawing, but don't think i still have them.

    Good video as usual. Never used these myself, but I could feel that I might let-rip as I usually do fine detail. They might be OK for 'going a little mad' sometimes, lol.

      Yeah I’m used to fine detail too! The bluntness of these pen isk kind of scares me but they have their uses. Thanks for watching!!

    They’re actually both charcoal, I think the Pierre Noire is an oily charcoal pencil and that’s why is smoother, Conté also has the Carbone line, which is carbon.

    • @AlexisCassandraArt
      @AlexisCassandraArt  3 роки тому +1

      Ah that makes sense. I love oily charcoal much better than regular charcoal or even carbon if I’m being honest! Just less of a mess. Thanks for your comment!

    Conte actually created "The 1st Graphite pencil". He invented it!!! Of course they make graphite pencils too!! Just not so popular as their charcoal pencils though! Faber Castell also has a long history thus a lot of experience, and took the wheel of the leadership at some point in history! Also they only French, that managed to establish it's position, as No1 selling item worldwide, is the BIC lighter and their pens!!

      Oh wow! I've learned a lot from the comment section of this video, even that these pencils are an older version that isn't sold anymore. I love how much knowledge you guys bring in-thanks for that!

    The Contés with golden lettering are not in production any longer. Don’t give them away if you haven’t already! Production seems to have been outsourced and artists have after that complained about the quality. And I also myself find the newer Pierre Noirs (with white lettering) have a tiny bit different characteristics than the older ones (although that may be because clays, waxes, binders may change with time when you store them for many years). But foremost that there are some-not much, but still too much for some kinds of professional uses-coarse “grains” appearing in the leads from time to time. If you’re into detailed and smooth drawing on hot pressed papers that may not be good for you. My self, I use them on more textured paper together with charcoal, so it doesn’t matter too much.
    Now, that problem may possibly have been solved with later batches… Because in the description it now reads that the lead paste is filtered. I haven’t bought anything recently. So I couldn’t tell. And not sure if similar issues have been identified with other types of Conté pencils and crayons. Pierre Noir translates to Black Stone. So it likely isn’t made from charcoal. Perhaps some mined graphite/carbon pigment that can cause abrasive particles to appear.
    Unfortunately there is a risk in reviewing old art materials. Production may change more or less without notice. Conté a Paris isn’t the only brand. The largest game changer for illustrators seems to have been when Italian FILA 20 years ago first outsourced, then soon ceased it’s production, of a charcoal pencil called Ritmo. And so many artists had been using it (unknowingly to FILA it seams). There is a charcoal pencil called Ritmo today, but it’s manufactured by different company who has possibly used a non-trademarked name or bought the trademark.

      Ooh good to know, I will be keeping those then! I do have quite a lot though. Sad that the quality has decreased in these. The ones I have are quite loveley!

    My comment got swallowed odd. Anyway Conte of Paris also has pastel pencils I have a bunch of them. I also love to work in carbon and charcoal pencil with the pastel pencils. You should try oil impregnated charcoal it’s a neat medium.

    • @AlexisCassandraArt
      @AlexisCassandraArt  3 роки тому +1

      That happens sometimes I've noticed. But I saw your other comment! I think cretacolor charcoal pencils (the oil-based ones at least) may be similar to what you're talking about, but I've never heard the term "oil impregnanted charcoal" before and now I'm curious LOL

      Hi Alexis, well I'm in love!! This charcoal is soooo easy to work with and love the contrast, lol
      You need to try a charcoal piece
      🙂
      Yup
      It's a bit messy but instead of spending 20 plus hours on a graphite portrait, I can finish this in less than 8 hrs.and this is just first attempt, lol
      Anyway using Marie's charcoal, not bad, easy to get nice point on it.
      🙂
      Oh, I have carbon pencils, but I hate trying to blend with them, their so sticky to me
