The only truth is that you need to love yourself first and learn to be full within yourself, before trying to seek love.
Afterwards, when you are with a partner, make sure that they love you as much as you love them.
Unless you can get to this point, then certainly, marriage is not for you. Of Course, love is just a bunch of hormones, but IF you can rise above it, and maintain attraction, not just from your partner, but from the other gender as a whole, your marriage will be pretty much successful.
The only issue that occurs is when there is a lack of attraction from one of the 2 partners towards the other.
Most people treat marriage as a final T-20 game, where you win when you get married. Nope, not at all. It is a constant Test Match which requires consistent dedication and efforts from both the parties.
Marriage is hard work, where you have to be consistent and present for your family. If you are lazy or love to spend time alone, it is not for you.
No one is forcing you to be married, ultimately, it is a choice. Some people like it, some don't, some have successful marriages and some do not. It is a numbers game powered by a lot of other socio-economic factors.
Bollywood/Hollywood movies dekh ke karoge, toh obviously fail hi hogi. Stay true to your purpose, genuinely love the other person, even when the attraction fades away, only then will you be successful in it.

This is probably the best perspective(s) I've heard on this topic. As a 23 year old, the idea of marriage has always been anxiety inducing.
I am going to be 40 in a few months. I really needed it. I am there right now. I have wasted a lot of time trying to find relationships, nothing gave me happiness, except, seeing my list of things I enjoy everyday. Seriously, Whenever I am working on my hobbies, I don't feel the abandonment fears, fears of feeling inadequate etc. I am not there yet but have started feeling how awesome it can be to enjoy my own company.
