Finally finishing this book today. Thank you for making this AI audiobook, I might not have read it otherwise. The breaks and pacing, along with the tone at times seem all too human to be AI. Kinda crazy. If you have some time, could you explain what your workflow is to make these? E.g. The AI software used for TTS and any tips on how to make a better end product? Thanks again, I really appreciate your videos.
1. I begin by collecting clean audio samples of the voice I wish to use. 2. I then provide these audio samples to ElevenLabs, which processes them to generate a custom "AI voice model". 3. Next, I input the desired text into the voice model and simply press 'generate'. 4. I then put all the generated audio files into Shotcut for editing.
I listened to the whole thing and now I feel nothing but sorrow. His warning's are chilling and seem to have come to pass. What future do I have if I am digitally censored for not believing in the dominate narrative. Carl Sagan RiP
@@d0lvl0 A lot of the ideas from the last 10 to 20 minutes of part 1 talk about all the ways rational discourse is suppressed. False dichotomies, CRT places "lived experience" over being objective or rational instead of trying to critique what qualifies as such, it leans in to emotion and memory as at best just as valid as objectivity and rationality. I am not even trying to be one of those dorks who obsesses over dumb "culture war battle grounds" like CRT, it is just another example of the false dichotomies in politics or what I like to call binary extremes. He also mentions the escalation of clandestine operations, the internet losing it's openness as it is now a desert with walled gardens compared to the island hopping archipelago it was. Or the fact that news has gotten more sensational and less relevant and less informative, child abuse and the more dubious or conspiracy sided part that Qanon believes is just like many other times and events in history. Or how science can easily fall prey to the same problems of religions where you have doctrine that none may question and untrained and unofficial inquisitors or witch hunters. Again not trying to take a side in another "culture war battle ground" but Covid was not handled the best by the experts, public information changed and even flip flopped in the very beginning. And that is expected but they handled it terribly by not preempting and explaining that as data comes in procedures and policy may become obsolete and change quickly and they will increase the certainty level of the theories as time goes on and data comes in. and non experts took to screaming at and taking it upon themselves to enforce some of these things that ended up being false or helped suppressed the truth by doing a moral shouting down of reasonable inquisitiveness. I could go on, but we are definitely have a fascist at a institutional and in organizational sense but not doctrine or ideology government. Allen Dulles and other American power mongers and their respective counterparts in other countries across the world learn a lot form fascism, the U.K. already had one toe dipped an anyways with its Boer War internment camps and all the meddling it did in foreign countries to avoid war and instead relied on clandestine tools like espionage and propaganda, even flooding foreign markets with drugs to create/ bolster a black market economy if they were being barred for the legal economy and even weaken the government. It is a lot and can feel hopeless but to me it is just a reminder to hold myself more accountable and to worry about what I can control first. Being caught up in party politics (which is the only way unless you are a billionaire) is a big waste of time and more of the negative or toxic mindset to take. To be objective and find the nuanced solutions or to constantly research and learn and change accepted facts when needed after rigorous testing has shown erros outside the accepted margins of theories, is tough but is the only way to actually maintain and even progress as a society.

The Ai voice here is top notch. I was quite convinced until I heard him say hrs as h-r-s and not hours. Then I knew I had been fooled. But other than that the voice was perfect

'Joshua Graham's' resolute and humorless delivery frequently imports a heavy element of disappointment and even disgust toward Sagan's targets for what they are: for-profit charlatans and their adherents - frequently more fervent in their devotion to ideology than the profiteers, for they are the ones who have bought into those schemes, and therefore stand to lose aspects of their livelihood, rather than their mere commerce - as well as fearful hegemony and credulous, casual consumers of snake-oil and tabloid sensation. It is interesting to hear and inevitably draw parallels to today's 'Did-My-Own-Researchers' and Andrew Wakefield cultists - the common element through the centuries is ignorance, both through forces of imposition and those held with desperate conviction; as such, it is a fault that, with historical consistency, defends itself with violence and is one of the few faults upon which defeat by violence is, in turn, just. What a good choice for narration.
This guy isn't just a critical thinker, he is a negative minded individual who apparently believed in nothing. I am an open minded individual that cannot imagine going through life being so critical of everything that 'other people' may believe causes me to write such a book condemning them. I fail to see the popularity and yet...I will still read the last half of this most ridiculous book just to see if he ever mellows out and stops condemning those who believe in stuff that he doesn't. I am not one to believe things just because someone says it...and he condemns others beliefs because he 'says' they have no proof but what is he doing?...expecting you to believe what he says and provides no proof. Some of the examples he gave as proof that a certain belief was false...well, he obviously picked through which examples to use because there is a ton of others who have proved him wrong but of course, they did not prove him right so he didn't use them. After finishing this book I can say that though I agreed with much of what he said, 'how' it was presented here was quite poor. I would not ever recommend this book. This is MY opinion and I expect no one to share it nor do I wish to convince anyone, I am merely sharing my own opinion, it is not up for debate so save your arguments all you trolls.
I disagree with you, but I respect your opinion. Honestly, good on you for sticking through this book and finishing it despite having such disagreements.
You condemn him using far less evidence than he uses and I, too, am just sharing my opinion. Sagan would at least debate, while you just want the final word and anyone who won't give it to you is supposedly "a troll". So much for being "an open minded individual".
Sir, you are not considering the year of the book, historical context of those years. I think Carl would be amazed to live in 2024 when so many things are being questioned, both science and religion.

Hehe, this is like a dream come true. Amazing
Was something I was looking forward to do, since I do enjoy the book and the character Joshua Graham from fallout new vegas.

What specific dominant narrative are you referring to here? I totally agree
