I use a Renata 386 button cell battery with a little piece of aluminum foil between the lid and battery for the meter. Never had an issue with it. But best bed is to use a light meter app on your smartphone. Or as someone mentioned, there’s also an battery adapter for the use of more modern batteries.

I have this Canon 50/1.2 screwmount lens for the Canon 7 rangefinder. I have it on Leica, Sony E and Fuji X adapters for portraiture and occasionally for zone focus street photography. A beautiful, but soft lens. Great pickup and nice vid. Cheers

Interesting video, and I intend to try using the battery adapter information in the comments
I have the 0,95 lens, and although I haven't shot film in awhile, I remember the lens being awesome in low light. I am going to start shooting some film again, and play with using the Leica lenses from my M3 on the 7s.
I love the old cameras, and have acquired a small collection of the old rangefinders over the years including a Kiev 4a and a Leica copy. I haven't used the Kiev, but for someone just starting in the hobby, the Fed is a great camera for the price.

you can get the pratedthai MR-9 battery adapter for 20 bucks on ebay which will convert a 386 battery to 1.35V and make the meter work properly

Use the meter in a different way..........so what way is that? Shouldn't you elaborate since you mentioned it? Do you even know? And............you said, if you stop down it is easier to focus??? Wait, what??? It's not an SLR. So how does that work?

Stopping down will give you more DOF and more will be in focus and thus "easier to get thing in focus" I guess that's more accurate way to say it

@@DPhillipsStudios Yep. I call myself also a lucky one as once, found a Minolta SLR body with multiple lenses, including a 58mm F1.2 in a big ugly black bag, that no once cared to look into and I paid $15 for all the goodies included, in a Thrifty shop! but still my hope is to find one of these Canon P or 7 with that F1.2 MLT or why not, if it is a dream, having an attached 0.95 …….. Well definitely will let you know (To make you more jealous! if I ever find one but who knows, you may burn me sooner on that my mat). Again thanks for all the good things you do on YT n your good content.
